Wind and turbulence in the Career Mode is ridiculous

yes are real winds check windy

Have the same problem since I have the IFR cert and use live weather. I’ve turned it off now and hope I can have a flight with a proper landing tomorrow. So annoying when the wind just flips you over at landing and basically trashes your pilot rating

The upside is I am getting REALLY good at landing a 172 in insane crosswinds lol.

To add to this, trying to fly the Helicopter missions with these same erratic winds is insane!!

Hi, I have the exact same thing. In free flight, I have no problem. But in the career, the weather is extreme (I have the 180$ bonus for it after the mission), but it’s really hard and the people onboard with me don’t like it…

Right now, where I live (and where I set my airport in my career). it’s really really windy and I was thinking if the game take real condition for the career? And just remove the night for a day. I want to play, I want to fly, but I don’t think a cessna pilot IRL will fly with that wind…

Glad it’s not just me, all the career flights I’ve done so far - I’m still doing the short fly around a town and land ā€˜first’ flights - have all had crazy winds shaking the plane around.

I’m Flying from France To Coast of England right now as I type this. 0 wind and clear skies. Even though the pre start map showed partly cloudy. Its definetly some wierd stuff going on right now. I have not had any wind in 2 days. But 2 days ago flying in the USA (New England Area and my HQ area) it was pretty bad, not bad enough to ruin the mission. But bad enough if It was a real flight I would of stayed on the ground.

Still in 172 by the way on cargo delivery on a 1 1/2 hour flight. I have also been using that no clouds options, but accourding to this thread it does not effect in game… But yet here I am after weekend of using it, no clouds and 0 wind.

It heavily depends on where you are I guess.
My first career I started at KASH, Nashua, NH and I couldn’t even complete the required first mission it gives you after the PPL. The winds were so bad , and the runway they gave you was the wrong way, I had like 50 knot crosswinds and 70 knot TAIL winds and after 6 or 7 tries I just could never actually land.

I reset my career, started a new one at KDTS, Destin, FL and the weather is perfectly fine, not calm, but NORMAL, and I Was able to do my first few missions without any issues.

Yeah same thing, I posted about it yesterday:

I assume the weather is largely accurate to what is really happening at the moment with Storm Bert et. al. in Western Europe, although it’s frustrating that it basically turns the entirety of Europe into a hurricane for everyone. I suspect unless something changes we’ll have many more scenarios like this when the US gets its next set of storms and everyone globally is forced to not fly career missions in the US for several days. Would be nice to be able to disable live weather and have some form of randomly generated conditions for those who want to fly in a certain region but equally don’t want to fly a Cessna through category 5 hurricane conditions to do it. Or even for those early in their careers who don’t want to spend 10s of thousands of credits to transfer to another region just to avoid crashing every flight.

Edited, spoke too soon. The cloud setting did not change the wind for me. I just got lucky on one and had it behind me.

Same issue, in fact immediately was deducted points from a career mission because the VFR sightseeing mission was launching from an aiport in IFR-only conditions. ATC denied me permission to taxi and takeoff :face_with_diagonal_mouth:.

3KT winds and the plane is jumping around everywhere

Just tested and stopped my plane after landing towards the wind. 20 knots with my plane parked. Unreal. Guess the real world has 23 mph winds globally

it gets worse - I was almost flung into trees in Japan with a 40kph gust out of nowhere as I was taking off.

Yep same here, steady wind of 60-70 knots in most of Europe.

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• Yes

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• The weather simulation in missions is so bad I have given up.

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:

It“s close to impossible, that thosewinds in the carrermode are real.

Yesterday I had a flight from my homebase in the sim and in a real plane. The Sim had wind at 60kt, while my real flight had wind at 4kt.

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• Yes

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• Pretty impossible to fly/land with cessna 172 in tropical storm level 60-75kt cross winds. And the turbulence I get would break Cessna. This is in Career mode flight in europe: LFJR → EGMD

Agreed, yesterday I tried to fly a helicopter in these winds, it was darn impossible. I just quit the mission, today I actually got a full flight in the helicopter.

After a few missions, we unlock real-time weather…
BUT IT’S EVEN WORSE…
The turbulence is extreme… the aircraft (all of them) becomes uncontrollable.

I even had a mission on the island of OlƩron in France where the C172 climbed on its own, spinning around, and then dove straight down.

The problem is that Asobo (Microsoft) needs to give us the option to reduce or even disable the turbulence…

Because right now, even with 6 knots of wind, it’s unmanageable. It feels like the early days of FS 2020…
