I mean, in fairness, OP does state, “possible” in thread title.
Totally! We look after each other in this community.
We totally agree with what you’re stating,….However.
After installing this update our trusty X 52 Pro lost some of it’s lighting and both MSFS Flightsims were a flickering mess. Starcitizen and other games were not affected. After reinstalling the Saitek driver + DDU’ing and then installing the latest Nvidea driver everything seems to be back to normal.
Cheers m Dears and happy Flying.
If this is true you may want to keep an eye on KB5077744 as well. This out-of-band update includes everything from KB5074109, plus an RDP fix.
That’s a shame! I’ve had it on mine since the 13th, and I am not noticing any change. I’m on the older 581 Studio driver. Cheers!
The info I posted states that KB5074109 is a “Critical Update.”
It also states that ‘some’ users have reported serious problems after installing it.
It’s not a “rumor.” It’s cautionary information. While I appreciate the intent of your comment, it’s a bit insulting to suggest that I posted it without looking into it. I think my reputation here is pretty solid. I’m not some random guy who jumps around the web reposting everything I read.
My apologies.
Has anyone here installed the 5074109 update and had problems with Nvidia GPU and MSFS2024?
Nope mate.
I didn’t have any issues with the GPU (RTX 4090) and MSFS 2024 - but to be precise, I uninstalled that update, disabled “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” in Windows Update and paused updates for a week.
I did this intentionally to test the impact of that update using various benchmarks from the paid version of 3DMark. I used 3DMark because I didn’t experience any FPS drop in MSFS 2024. After uninstalling the update, my 3DMark scores were slightly higher than before, but still within the margin of measurement error.
Yes indeed. Post Windows Update there were graphical issues with both Flight Sims. After uninstalling the latest Driver we then used DDU to completely scrub it out before reinstalling the Driver.
Perfect Gentleman no less.
in the current day and age with the genuinely shocking state that Microsoft patches are often released in, i’d be extraordinarily hesitant to tick the “get latest updates as soon as they’re available” box. in the last year alone, KB5066835, KB5050009, KB5050021, and KB5053598 were all terrible on initial release. boot loops, black screens, hard drive corruption, 50% framerate drops, you name it.
and to think i used to be a member of the Windows Insider Program. ![]()
I have been waiting to install 5074109 until any problems are sorted or fixed. Somehow this update was installed on my PC anyway. Possible I clicked the wrong thing when shutting down a couple days ago. In any case, it is now installed and I don’t see any problems in flight FS2024 or with the latest Nvidia driver released and installed today. Fingers crossed.
At least the statement quoted from Microsoft was written by a person - no AI would write what is quoted:
FYI, you’ll start to hear about Windows 26H1 - it is ONLY being released for new silicon (eg, Snapdragon X2)
What to know about Windows 11, version 26H1 - Windows IT Pro Blog
Windows 11, version 26H1 is a targeted release that supports some of the new device innovations coming in 2026. That means that this release is not being made available through broad channels but is only intended for those who purchase these new devices. At this time, devices with Qualcomm Snapdragon® X2 Series processors will come with Windows 11, version 26H1.
Windows 11, version 26H1 is not a feature update for version 25H2.
- Windows 11, version 26H1 will only be available on new devices with select new silicon as they come to market in early 2026.
- Windows 11, version 26H1 is not offered as an in-place update from Windows 11, version 24H2 or 25H2 on existing devices.
As some of you may know, I had paused the Windows update due to known issues with performance and Wi-Fi functionality.
Today, I resumed Windows update and made sure that update KB5077181 is being downloaded and will install.

This update fixes known issues with gaming performance, resolves the black screen problem on NVIDIA GPUs and ensures proper Wi-Fi network functionality.
So if anyone has paused Windows update like I did, you should resume it and install KB5077181.
So it happened that 25H2 was automagically&forcibly installed. There was I, eagerly anticipating to get some stick time. The game ran horrendously. No other changes. Did manual check for updates like the OP. Latest drivers on devices. Messing with system level settings isn’t what users should do get this level of title to work. Uninstalling brought back the status quo, back to normal.
Same happened to me but with very different results as my PC has been running as good as it ever has. I had a slimmed down build of Win 11 installed and 25H2 surprisingly didn’t pile on any additional bloatware that I could tell. AI and Recall were the biggest concerns but none of it was to be found after installing 25H2.
I don’t doubt your bad experience as I have had several of my own after updates - just wanted to provide feedback on a different outcome.
Two quite different opinions and experiences. In my case, after installing KB5077181, the system seems okay - well, “seems” because after closing, for example, MS Edge my desktop icons refresh themselves, which is really strange.
EDIT
It turns out this isn’t a Windows update issue. I got bored, so I decided to find the cause - it turns out the desktop icons refreshing after closing Edge is caused by the Startup Boost setting. After turning it off, the desktop icons no longer refresh when Edge is closed.
Edge settings > System and Performance > Startup Boost tab
Turn off Startup Boost
New AMD chipset drivers were released 5 days ago for AMD motherboards - I mentioned it yesterday in another topic. Just bringing it up here as well, because stable systems also mean up-to-date drivers.
A new version of the AMD chipset drivers was released 5 days ago.
In my case (I have the MSI X870E Carbon WiFi motherboard), the version available directly from AMD is newer than the chipset driver version provided by MSI.
It’s worth installing the new AMD chipset driver.
