I think I solved it brother. Do the following, put it to download and leave it there. It will take a while to start downloading, but it will start. Trust. vlw!!
Just updated my setup to Windows 11. It was very stable under Windows 10 and I feared to cause a massive breakdown.
Everything went especially fine. Noticeably faster than Windows 10 on the UX side. Quick and snappy. Pleasantly surprised.
On the MSFS 2020 side, NOTHING BAD TO REPORT.
The app is still working as expected. VR is as smooth as before.
For the record, Iām running a Ryzen 3600, 32 GB RAM 3200, SSD, Radeon 6800XT MBE, WMR Lenovo Explorer.
P.S.
The video driver seems to have been replaced with the Microsoft one. It carries the version 27.20.22025.1006. Seems to be fine for now.
Yeah. Apparently the progress bar doesnāt work properly in the xbox app. After a while is shows installed without showing the progress.
I upgraded 3 computers to Win 11 yesterday, one of which is my FS2020 system. Of all Windows updates I have done over the decades, this is by far the smoothest and major issue free. FS2020 is running just fine and dandy in VR in Win 11
Strange that people have problems with HAGS on.
I get a better experience with it set to on.
Fps is the same on or off but I get stuttering with it off, smooth with it on.
Apparently there is some issue in performance drop in combination with Windows 11 and some AMD processors:
The old man from Maui and myself are flying in VR. HAGS does not effect (my) experience in pancake mode but introduces big stutters in VR.
This requirement for Windows just been around since Win 11
With the exception of some bespoke and exotic boards if itās been produced since 2016 it supports TPM 2.0. So what is the problem except switching it on?
Donāt do it, I did and had to roll back all sorts of issues . There is no upside and itās not a magic pill!
Thank you for sharing your concise and deeply considered observations although I canāt help but notice that 90% of posts on this thread are at odds with your obviously thorough investigation.
To be concise it ruined my overclocking using the intel XTU and my CPU dropped from 5.3Ghz to 4,8Ghz. It destroyed my frame rates and I spent a day rolling it back and getting my OC back to where it was stable again.
If you want to be on the bleeding edge then upgrade but even my IT advisor for my company is waiting 6 months as he said the constant patching and deep changes in the first 6 months create all sorts of instability and problems with the windows code.
I will now be waiting until everyone has had their issues as I have had enough issues with MSFS on itās own over the last year.
Just be aware that we have a lot of people that seem to get high on updates for no reason and they bark like excited puppies and then there is the rest of us. I chose stability.
- Performance impact may be more detectable in >8-core processors above 65W TDP.
So this should affect me but I canāt say Iām impacted. I have no better frame rates but it all runs like butter ā¦ and reading this maybe Iāll even get a boost later this month
OK thatās a lot more explanatory ā¦ And I agree OCāers are going to get hit worst. However I think you will find you may not be able to escape Microsoftās clutches in the sim once Direct Storage is fully implemented because of syncing issues. Are there no soft underclocking solutions?
If Intel XTU isnāt working properly yet, people that use this for overclocking should be able to apply the tweaks that it has made directly in the BIOS settings. My BIOS overclock from 4.8 to 5.2 GHz certainly survived the jump to Win 11 without issue.
no issues here what so ever
Hmmm what did you do that took you so long to roll back? I also reverted back to win 10 due to other reasons/issues, but the snapshot restore took me like 20 minutes and everything was exactly configured like before updating to win 11
I did the updateā¦ hated itā¦ tried to go back and it failed. tried to boot off my backup W10 ssd. on bootup it went out the internet and checked my id then failed to load. Im stuck with W11 in my flight pit.
W11 gave me 50% hit on my FPS in FSXX. I found this guy that helped get me back to 40fps in ultra.

Oh yeaā¦ the task barā¦ I use the task bar for info and multitasking. I run it on my second monitor but we cant move the taskbar in W11. Everyone knows that games usually run better in full screen mode. Well, that covers up the task bar. Running games in full screen usually defaults to the primary display, where the W11 taskbar lives.
So I made my second scratch monitor the primary. now my taskbar is where I want it. I started the sim in window mode and dragged it to my main monitor then held Left alt and hit enter making the sim window go full screen. did a normal sim shut down and normal PC reboot. I loaded the FSXX and it popped up on my main monitor in full screen running 40 fps in Ulta at LAX.
It corrupted several registry entries for Intel XTU and it took me a day to find the entries . Without deleting the entries I could not reinstall Intel XTU until I fixed the registry. Itās not easy fixing broken registry entries.
It also corrupted the windows installation and Windows update was broken and that required me to run a few MS Dos Commands like SFS /scannow ect which find a lot of damaged code.
I guess itās different for everyone depending on their hardware and what programs they are running.
I would suggest you run the SFC /scannow in Command prompt as I had several corrupt and missing parts in windows that were repaired.
Thanks for the hint. I tried SFC /scannow and it reported no errors on my side. Maybe i was just very lucky that nothing happened, but on the other hand snapshot restores should actually always revert every configuration and application back to previous state.
So i really wonder what made XTU rampaging on your side. Maybe its just too deeply integrated into the system. Iām using Throttlestop for OC, which luckily reported no issues after the revert.
But yeah as you said, maybe it just depends on the installed software and the hardware configurations for everyone.
