Windows 11 Upgrade

There’s really not much in it but Windows 11 does a better job of closing off unneccesary services etc. while gaming. Also new hardware and tech e.g. Direct Storage is bound to be better supported.

Yeah, but will it allow my Goflight modules to keep working??
Wouldn’t want them to turn into expensive paperweights.

That’s the main reason I have not upgraded.

I think that you can try it and revert to 10 if it doesn’t work for you.

I don’t see why they wouldn’t keep working. Windows 11 is closer to Windows 10 than Linux, at any rate. Never had a bit of software that ran just fine under Windows 7 stop in Windows 8/8.1/10 either.

I just upgraded to windows 11, reloaded msfs 2020, downloaded the latest version of shift+Z, and updated windows 11 and MSFS apps. But shift+Z does nothing, even though it worked well under windows 10. Any suggestions? I really miss the in-flight latitude and longitude.

Problem solved. This is what I did:

  1. Use the file explorer to make the directory AppData visible. It starts as hidden with a new windows 11 installation.

  2. Move the directory ambitiouspilots-shiftzstats to AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Community

  3. change userconfig as desired
