The person who responded to me from the support team yesterday was probably ■■■■■■ me. By complete coincidence, I found today the below menu (see screenshot) which appears to allow me to chose another font. I haven’t tried but it seems that this is what it does. I can chose either (1) a font already existing on Windows, or (2) a custom font with a .wwfz extention (I am not familiar with this file extension).
Of course we want (2) since this is an Airbus custom made font. I presume that someone has already produced this font, or, soon will.
If you happen to know where to find this file, please let me know, I would like to get it.
Winwing seems to do a lot of their social media/marketing stuff through YT Community posts. It sound like some things like the brightness control will be setup in a more automated fashion with an upcoming software update:
EDIT: the same posts are on their official FB and Instagram accounts/pages as well if you’re looking to keep up with that they’re saying about stuff officially.
Anyone willing to summarize with a brief tl;dr on what the best course of action is (Global vs Regional site) for ordering Winwing products to the United States?
I want:
Airbus MCDU
Boeing 737-style FMC
one (1) mount
EXPED button for my Airbus FCU panel
I’ve seen folks getting their pre-ordered flight computers already (Airbus and Boeing) to US-based addresses (I’m in Minnesota), which means they had to order from the Global site, correct? But when I do that, shipping via FedEx is the only option and it is $65! Is this just “you gotta pay to play” or am I missing something?
Airbus and Boeing flight computers both appear to be available from the Global site for that high shipping cost, as is the EXPED button I want. The mount is only available for preordering.
Conversely, on the regional US site, both flight computers and the EXPED button are out of stock and listed “preorder only”, but the mount is in stock.
Goal here I guess is to just get all four of those items to somehow ship in the same box for one flat cost. I don’t mind waiting but I’d rather not pay $65 in shipping, and this shipping amount that I’m seeing seems to be higher than I’m seeing anybody else reporting.
Nope, that’s pretty much it. If you want the new stuff (PFPs, for instance), the Global site with drop-shipping from China is the only way to go, and the shipping is going to bite you. By contrast, you can get much cheaper shipping ($7USD for one of the PFP/MCDU units for instance) if you’re willing to wait the month or six weeks it takes for a pallet of stuff to literally take the slow boat from China to stock the US distribution site.
Personally, I can wait. I’ve got a PFP 7 on order that’s still about 4-1/2 weeks away, more or less.
I found out my order was cancelled due to a technical glitch on their part during the product launch. I’m pretty upset about it. “Upset” because this website will censor the word I want to use. That was a lot of wasted time and now I have to wait months. This will be the last product I get from them.
Cool, thanks for taking the time to respond. Oddly, I’ve seen anecdotally from other US folks that ordered from the Global site that their shipping totaled closer to $30 or $35 than the $65 I was quoted but at that point the difference is only a few bucks anyway, not worth losing any sleep over, I’d just as soon wait and be patient.
Just for a bit of further info, I purchased a couple of the clamp mounts in the US and received them in a week with free shipping. I’ll wait for the MCDU and PFP 3, which I pre-ordered.
Join the club. There are a lot of us waiting on pre-orders. I expect it’ll be at least a month or so for those of us who ordered from local shipping locations.
Jeez, if you’re going to have to wait on a pre-order anyway, why not see if you can do it locally instead and see what shiiping costs would be. Those global shipping costs are crazy sky high!
Not sure what “local” means? I tried to order via the European Union store, which includes custom duties so I guess this is why that humongous shipping fee of 40+ euros.
The problem is that the items cannot be bundled in one shipment, so preordering now meaning I’d have to pay double the shipping cost. I’ll have to wait.
Surely the 3 are exactly the same, just different bezel colours and the other is just a slightly different design. How they interface to different aircraft is software based, not hardware.
Yeah, no idea why it happens. I tried a couple more times and I’m still getting double the shipping costs. On top of that now it shows this about availability:
It’ll still let me preorder the PFP3N from the EU store, with an ETA of 45+ days. So like I said I’ll have to wait for a couple of months until they sort out their inventory.
update: ok found a way to pre-order both items and group them in a single order:
I won’t ask which EU country you reside in, as that is private information. Instead, I would recommend contacting Winwingsim support directly to inquire about why you are being charged double for the shipping of a single order.
