WinWing MCDU issues

Hi,

Today I’ve received my WinWing MCDU and am trying to get it to work in MSFS24 for hours now.

I’ve installed newest update as well as the older version but can’t get past the black screen on the MCDU.

The issue I am facing is that it shows a black screen on the MCDU it self, but when testing the lights etc from within the SimAppPro software it works flawless.

When I check the Environment Check page on the software it’s stuck at “The button and the axis are synchronized.(Pending Activation)”

I’ve, as far as I know, set the right folders for the game as well.

User Path Data: C:\Users\aad-a\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\SystemAppData\wgs
Install Path: E:\Xbox Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024\Content
Aircraft Model Path: C:\Users\aad-a\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Official2024\OneStore
Third-Party Aircraft Modem Path (I don’t have any third party aircraft installed.): C:\Users\aad-a\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Community

  • I’ve tried versions V1.16.72_Beta, V1.16.48 and V1.16.55 of SimAppPro.
  • I’ve updated the firmware of the MCDU as well.
  • I tried multiple Airbus aircraft and Boeing.
  • I am running MSFS24 - Sim Update 04 - Beta (PC)

I hope someone here can help me with this issue, thanks in advance.

Highly recommend going to the WinWing web site and opening a ticket using their chat window. They have always been quick to help me, but keep in mind the time differences between where you are and where they are in Asia. They have helped me every time I have had an issue within a day or two, or a week if a software update was needed.

I’ve done that, they just closed right after asking me what’s wrong
So I hoped someone here has had the same issue or perhaps a solution for this.

Also FBW A32NX?

From FlyByWire? I’m not using any third party apps at the moment. I am mostly using the built in career mode.

Hmmm, just a thought, have you tried in SU3 retail release?

I have not, I mostly used the default version and recently switched to the Beta version.

FWIW, I just completed 2 flights today in the FBW A320n in SU3 and my MCDU, FCU & EFIS all worked as expected with SimAppPro 1.16.68, which made me very happy as these are my first flights in 24 with the FBW Airbus.

Do you perhaps have a download link for that version of SimAppPro? And how should I download SU3?

Maybe before making any changes, check with WinWing to see if your MCDU should be working as expected in SU4 beta? And if so, which version of SimAppPro they recommend for use in SU4 beta. They may not have updated SimAppPro for SU4 yet, but probably best to just ask them?

I will wait for their response then, thank you for the help though, I will report back as soon as I got a response from them.

I am having similar issues after updating SimAppPro to latest version 1.16.72 Beta. Before I was running FCU Unit, EFIS L+R and MCDU just fine. Then stopped using them for few weeks. Installed new ECAM and AGP; installed Ursa Minor L and then updated SimAppPro to latest version and individually updated each piece of hardware.

McAfee software showed warning due to possible dangerous files after I started SimAppPro. Excluded those files, started all over again, same problem. Started MSFS2024 but hardware was not recognized by Fenix A320. Hardware powers up and it is detected by SimAppPro, all buttons test just fine but does not connect to MSFS 2024 Fenix A320. Not sure if it is due to latest MSFS 2024 update or SimAppPro bug but now I can’t use any WinWing product at all. Not even X-Plane 12!

Please post any WinWing reponse for all to read. Thank you

Luis

On WinWing web site of the MCDU product page, there is a table listed all supported aircraft so far WINWING , and you can see all the built-in airbus by inibuilds are not currently supported for the screen (only buttons can be mapping via some 3rd-party software e.g. Mobiflight)

There is also a ticket on inibuilds forum regarding the API which is necessary from inibuilds to support it, Winwing MCDU - Page 2 - Other - iniBuilds Forum , but so far it’s still WIP

It’s not Winwing’s fault that your antivirus flags files SimLogic.exe and WWTstream.exe as suspicious. McAfee is blocking them, so you need to change its settings and whitelist those files - along with the SimApp Pro app - so they can run properly on Windows.

I also just started having the exact same problem as the original post. I’m using the Fenix a320. The MCDU worked perfectly for months until the latest sim app pro update yesterday. The buttons work in the simulator but the screen is blank. I was going to try rolling back the software but the original post above mentions that didn’t fix it. Will report back later if I can fix it. The only anti virus I have running is windows defender which hasn’t been a problem until now but I will also check that.

@AadBuurman
I’ve got a moment for coffee, so I decided to help.

First of all, your patch path for MSFS 2024 is set incorrectly.

The correct one is below.
Install Path: E:\Xbox Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024

:warning:
Your MSFS 2024 launcher ended up on drive E because that’s where you installed it. That isn’t the default location. I’ve always said on the forum that both MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024 launchers should be on drive C to avoid permission issues with files and folders. Hopefully that’s not what’s causing trouble for you.

Make sure MCDU firmware is up to date. The latest version is 1.03

If yours is older, you’ll need to update it.

In the SimApp Pro click the Environment Check tab - all lines on the right side of the window should be green

the last line should show the names of the detected WinWing devices.

In the first post of the thread, I can see from the lines that the selected aircraft is the Asobo A320v2. The thing is, Inibuilds is working on this aircraft - Inibuilds’ Airbuses aren’t compatible with WinWing devices yet, as I mentioned on the forum.

That’s why I asked if you had tried the FBW A32NX. With that aircraft, the MCDU will work, as long as SimBridge is installed and running in the background.

Below is a photo I just took on my phone

as you can see, the MCDU works with FBW and MSFS 2024 SU4 beta 1.6.29.0

EDIT

I forgot to add that SimApp Pro, SimLogic.exe and WWTstream.exe must be added to your antivirus exclusions and allowed to connect through the Windows Firewall or any third-party firewalls.

I tested FBW with the WinWing MCDU using SimApp Pro version 1.16.72

If you want the MCDU to work with Inibuilds Airbuses, unfortunately you have to use third-party software like SpadNext, AAO or Mobiflight.

The change log for Simapp pro mentions that their mcdu does work with several inibuilds planes (a340 for example). I had it working with the ini a340 just yesterday but I will say that half way through a flight the mcdu stopped working and froze, where no buttons worked and the screen just displayed the last thing I had been using. so it seems to buggy as opposed to with the Fenix a320 where the mcdu has been rock solid for me until late yesterday where the screen is now blank. I will check the antivirus exclusions later today.

You sir, just made my day.
I’ve done exactly as you said and it seems to have worked. (The game is still installed on drive E, but that doesn’t seem to cause a issue.)

Do you have any idea if there are more planes which I can use through FBW or is the A32NX the only one for now?

For the ones asking about the WinWing support response:
All they said was that default planes like the A320neo are not supported and that you need to setup your SimAppPro paths correctly, and then the software will automatically detect all planes? (They kept rejecting the fact that you need FBW, most planes simply are not supported by the MCDU.)

Honestly, just follow TenPatrol’s advice and it works, use FBW.

The Inibuilds A340 is a third-party, paid aircraft. Support for this aircraft for MSFS 2024 was added in SimApp Pro version 1.16.67.

OP is having issues with the Microsoft/Inibuilds Airbus A320V2

which is why I mentioned the lack of compatibility. In SimApp Pro version 1.16.47, support was added for MSFS 2020 Asobo A320neo (v1). The Airbus A320V2 is still not compatible with MSFS 2024.

If I’m wrong, please correct me.

Always happy to help

As I mentioned, the MCDU is not compatible with the default Airbuses in MSFS 2024. The MCDU works with FBW and also with the Ini A340, Fenix, FSLabs which you probably don’t have. To make the MCDU work with other Airbuses that aren’t officially supported, you need third-party software. Mobiflight is free.
