WinWing MCDU issues

So the software developers out there may appreciate this: I have found and reported a few defects to WinWing over the past few months since I bought their gear (six pieces to date). They took seriously my reports, asked for more info, and fixed each and every defect within 2 days to 2 weeks. Sound familiar? A well functioning team supporting serious users. There are time zone and language differences to put up with, yes. But they have done a great job supporting me and my purchases.

I’m glad people are having better experiences with simapp - I want it to work well! It did eventually update. Maybe I’ve got a junk USB hub, but I think it was some of the lights not working well on the hub and it did work on the mb USB port. I have now done 2 flight using the MCDU and EFIS / FCU combo and it is very nice vs. touch screen Air Manager stuff I was using before.

Given that it is mostly working now, is Mobiflight better for anything in particular? I guess it would be if I had mixed panels from different vendors… other benefits?

One last question on the current config, I have just the left EFIS, and it only sets the left altimeter. I keep getting “altimeter disagree” messages and have to slide over in the game cockpit to set the right side one with the mouse. Is it possible to set both altimeters (or all 3 counting the back up one) via the hardware left side one?

Yes they did fix an altitude bug in career mode with the PAP3 when i reported this, but with this came another bug: Magnetic A/T Switch didn’t function anymore. When i opened a new ticket about this they simply stated “It’s not supported at the moment” then WHY did i pay an additional 50 bucks just to have a magnetic switch that doesn’t work, when it worked fine before? And it works with MobiFlight. This irritated me so i just closed the ticket and deleted their app.

It might depend on what plane you are flying. For the Fenix 319/320/321, you can set the altimeter to sync in the settings in the Fenix EFB (so I set the left altimeter and it syncs with the one on the right and also the backup gauge) and I use a powered usb hub and the Winwing efis and mcdu works great with no problem. Maybe try a decent powered usb hub. Here in the USA I have the Sabrent 10 port powered hub (60 watt I think) from Amazon that’s popular here. I use 9 of the 10 ports for various things and have never had a problem.

Just got the WinWing MCDU for Christmas from my children and feel sick as I cannot get it to work. Have other WinWing products, the Ursa Minor flight stick and Orion rudder pedals so have the SimAppPro app installed and running, its version 1.16.76 with no further updates.

MCDU is firmware 1.03 which it says is the latest.

If I select MCDU in SimAppPro and do a light test, it lights up. LCD quite often shows blank or WinWing logo. Started a flight in the Fenix A320, cold and dark. Powered up the aircraft but WW MCDU does not change to show what is shown in the sims MCDU. Pressing buttons on the WW MCDU has no effect in the sim. Using MSFS 2024 and sim path and community folder correct paths, Fenix is in the community folder. Simproapp environment check lists all my Winwing products. Tried different usb ports one or rear motherboard IO panel and other on front of case. Not using any hub. Will try a windows restart. Is the Fenix A320 compatible with 2024 SU4?

Fenix aircraft is version 2.4.0.2913 and up to date

Any help?

UPDATE

I forgot Winwing controllers need a keybind downloaded after selecting MSFS 2024. It shows a few which can be downloaded and I selected the top one. None mention Fenix but initial tests have it working. Will attempt a full flight later

Yes, the Winwing mcdu is fully working in SU4 with the Fenix. When you first load into the Fenix at a parking spot and have it on the external GPU…the Winwing mcdu should light up and load just like the efis and fcu. If it doesn’t, go into the sim app pro software and check the environment tab where you can scroll down to see if it all initialized ok for your devices. If you don’t see the mcdu try shutting off the simapp pro software completely and re-launching it while still sitting there in the Fenix on stand. Next try re-starting the Fenix software (I normally have the Fenix software running before I start up MSFS but I think you can also let it auto start when you load into a flight). If that doesn’t work I think there is a button/setting in simapp pro to clear out any old registry settings that might be corrupted, so try that next. Post back with what happens and we can get you sorted out.

The WinWing FCU, EFIS, MCDU can all work fine with Fenix and the latest sim.

There’s an order thing, if SimAppPro is running before the sim is started, the system works.

I’ve yet to try restarting Fenix.

Yesterday I bought the Fenix bundle and today, out of curiosity, I checked whether my Winwing MCDU and FCU would work with the Fenix using SimAppPro - and they do. I didn’t need to download any additional keybinds.

The important thing is that winwing-wwtwasm must be installed in the Community folder. Without it, for example, the Winwing MCDU won’t work with the Fenix (or other aircraft).

In any case, I’ve confirmed that it works, so I can now close SimAppPro and run SPADneXt.

In my case, SimAppPro was started after the Fenix was already on the airport in a COD state and once the aircraft was powered up, both the MCDU and FCU worked without any issues.

I’ve got more time today, so I’ll definitely hook up the EFIS as well - it’s been sitting brand new and collecting dust since February

EFIS works with the FBW here. Don’t fly Fenix so looking forward to your reports over time. Cheers!

Weirdly my MCDU refused to connect to the Fenix unless I add a profile in the SimProApp. App is set to start at Windows login so is already running well prior to MSFS 2024 or Fenix app starting. My Fenix is installed in my Community folder and I also see the winwing-wwtwasm folder there too. It works so I am happy and it really adds to the immersion

Yes the WW MCDU is a phenomenal piece of hardware.

We can learn so much from it; A330 Driver on YouTube makes a lot of relevant videos and after you try out his flightplan tips and tricks then immersion and confidence improve.

EFIS, FCU and MCDU all work without any issues with the Fenix and the SimAppPro. I verified everything was working correctly, then I closed SimAppPro and tested the setup with SPADnext, which I use on a daily basis. After properly configuring the EFIS profile in SPADnext, everything works perfectly there as well.

Had same problem. I set the mcdu to factory settings and all worked.
