WinWing PFP7 & PAP3 used with a PMDG 777 and SimAppPro

Interesting thing happened to me yesterday which was repeatable, so I thought it time to post about it, as we don’t really have a thread yet for things WinWing and 777s…

In the setting of the latest version of SimAppPro 1.16.55_Beta

When preflighting the 777-200ER (772) in the latest version 2.00.116 in 2020, the PFP7 display was operable until I started using the UFT; once I touched the UFT screen the display in the PFP7 went blank. I restarted 3 times to see if I could wash this out, but it kept happening.

I did not encounter this in 2024 SU2 with the same 772 in the latest version 2.04.116, so it appears to be limited to 2020. In both sims, the PAP3 MCP was operable and unaffected by this. Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this new twist? Or any other PFP7/777 issues?

Suggest you ask Winwing support; they are pretty active and when they believe it is an issue we can help with will contact me.

I am not aware of this issue myself.

Ugh…

Dear customer, could you tell us what is the UFT screen?

I made an explanation and suggested they contact PMDG directly for further clarification about what the UFT is.

I just sent these before and after photos to WinWing support on my ticket for this defect.

Before clicking on the hotspot for the UFT

And immediately after clicking on the UFT hotspot, the PFP7 screen blanks out simultaneously.

After sending these to WinWing…

NEW INFORMATION: After I sent the above, I closed the UFT and the PFP7 screen returned. When I reopened the UFT, the PFP7 screen blanked out again. Toggle behavior is the defect!

Another update sent to WingWing a day later after another flight…

NEW INFORMATION: I can use the UFT when it is placed on the leftmost/Captain’s side mount without losing the display on the PFP7. When I use the UFT in the centermost position, that’s when I lose the display on the PFP7.

Thanks to WinWing for this fix a week later. With downloading SimAppPro V1.16.56, the following condition from my OP is now resolved…

NEW ISSUE SENT TO WinWing support related to streaming MS store purchases into 2024:

In the setting of SimAppPro 1.16.56 and MSFS 2024 SU2; in both the PMDG 777-300ER (77W) and 777F (freighter) MS Store versions that became available in 2024 just yesterday, the PFP7 appears to work as expected but the PAP3 does not work as it does in other 777s. These units work together as expected in the MS store versions installed in 2020, so this is a 2024 streaming thing apparently. @TheFalconOne FYI WinWIng has acknowledged this new request and sent it to their tech team.

Thanks. I believe I have a call scheduled with them later this week. When I learn more I will share.

777-200ER PIREP: Good news unrelated to the above issues

Just flew the same route in both 2020 and 2024 SU2 back-to-back in the .119 772s: Both the PFP7 and the PAP3 worked perfectly as expected in both sims, on both flights running on SimAppPro V1.16.56, which was released today. This is a model that I bought directly from PMDG and is therefore a Community Folder model.

A fictitious DL729/7294 DEN-MSP took 1:27/1:26 courtesy of the jet stream at FL390 today. There was an eery similarity between these two flights across both sims which was surprising, so the scenery down there must be coming together at the server level. This is not a critical analysis, just a loose and friendly observation while we wait for System Update releases soon!

More good news: WinWing replied that they will fix the new issue I posted above in the next version of SimAppPro.

Pleased to report that both the PFP7 & PAP3 on SimAppPro V1.16.65 are working as expected in the 777-200ER (772) update 121 in 2020 & 2024.

Pleased to report that the PFP7 issue in 24 has been fixed in 1.16.61 for the 77F & 77W.

Pleased to report that the PFP7 & PAP3 are now working in the 777-200LR (77L) in SimAppPro v1.16.65 in both 2020 and 24.
