Some of us just want to see the flying networks burn (IVAO, VATSIM,…) (joking). Skies filled with A380 with pilots going crazy, ATC trying to sequence medium and light wake turbulence aircraft between A LOT of A380, not enough heavy parking spots,…
And we will patiently wait for that moment when you feel that the product is ready, thanks for the work!

This is now getting very interesting - their latest update on discord included a pic of electronic checklists something which is available on real aircraft.
I am still surprised this is being released as freeware considering the amount of work that has been put into airplane, Nevertheless I am really looking forward to flying this - Can do some proper EK ops out of Dubai.
Whenever this releases - places like Dubai & Heathrow will be crowded by A380s on online ATC networks.

I bet I would! Having seen the video of the complete flight, that is far more than enough for me to have fun. That probably holds true for 95% of its user base, but I take your point.
Lets just hope that people who fly on live ATC know what they are actually doing and not disrespecting online traffic for a product one of the developers clearly stated its not ready yet (A380 on Vatsim/IVAO). No need for that to fill their servers as they have enough nonsense now they deal with.
Oh yes - definitely! As vatsim controller myself I do have deal with what you describe above and sometimes I’m on the verge of loosing my patience. But key thing is to stay calm and keep the airplanes moving, if they don’t do what I ask them to do then I improvise - sometimes it works & sometimes it doesn’t. I also try to help new pilots when my workload permits - If it’s busy on freq then I am sure you can imagine it is not possible and I just politely point them to right place where they can find help.
I have noticed lately on Vatsim that whenever any new addon plane is released, many people tend to flock on vatsim/ivao for their first flight in that airplane. Take Fenix A320 or PMDG 777 for example, when these two was released places like Heathrow, Dubai, Newyork…etc was overcrowded with almost all stands occupied. On approach all of the holding stacks became full very quickly. Half of the pilots I encountered didn’t know how to program their FMS or carry out basic task (such as flying a constant heading or speed).
I take it it’s not available to the public yet even in alpha. It’s still all greyed out in the installer. Interesting update though.
It’s a very well thought out and informative post, that many will read and understand, but many will not and there will be countless breathless posts about it being broken, un-flyable, junk, etc… I hope their Discord mods are well prepared!
Anyway, I love FBW’s work and look forward to a great (and unbelievably free!) airplane.

Can’t WAIT to get my hands on this one. I’m more excited for this than anything else currently in development (that I know of) and more than any aircraft in MSFS 2024. The A380 is a machine that will still, every time, stop me in my tracks when I see one flying over - really looking forward to trying to [virtually] fly one.

Yes - Definitely looking forward to this. We haven’t had any complex A380 addon for flight sim yet (previous releases by other developers don’t count as they are NOT complex in terms of system simulation in any way shape or form), this is going to be worth wile - Yes it is still Alpha and what not but as long as it is capable of flying from of A-B along few other bits and bobs like Holding, RNAV approach…etc then I am happy!

everyone is keen on the 380 until they find out there are only maybe 20 airports in the world where you can fly to! lol
for me too big i have zero interest in the 380. maybe i am the only one.
FBW should have built the 350.
Very big plane you are right. But if you flies real routes, that’s not a problem because you’ll land on airports able to receive it
It flies into Glasgow (8743ft runway) and Edinburgh (8386ft runway) regularly from Dubai (7 1/2hr flight), so it doesn’t need particularly long runways if it’s not fully loaded for say a 13 hr flight. So the 10 airport theory doesn’t hold up.
From a rough google search: “According to Airbus, the A380 can run scheduled operations to 140 airports across the world.”
Now gates at any given airport that can handle the a380 might paint a different picture.

I think TundraKeks22440 was reffering to gates.
All the airports able to receive the 747 have runways long enough for the 380 (more or less, i agree it’s not exactly the fact, need perf calculation… But I mean, long runways are pretty common around the world).

I think there is generally a single gate it uses in Glasgow, so yes gates are one key factor here. I’m kind of looking forward to doing some performance/load planning around taking off from and landing at shorter runways though.

I am quite excited by this aircraft as well but after enjoying the 8x on the 777, 4x on the 737 and the 727…
Anything less than 4x would somewhat painful, especially in a aircraft that real world operators don’t seem to use on anything less than 7 hours…
I hope fbw enables simrate but going off anything airbus related…

Agree, 4x makes a huge difference. I guess we’ll find out in due course.
