Working Title CJ4 Mod Version 0.4.1 Released

We are excited to :loudspeaker: v0.4.1 of the CJ4! This contains a bunch of bug fixes as well as an exciting addition to our sounds - specifically the Passenger Briefing Announcements.

While we fully expect to have to release ANOTHER update after the impending Asobo update, this work was all done, so we figured we’d make it available anyhow…

Known Issues

  • Modifications of the flight plan can be slow at times. The cause for this is Asobo’s FacilityLoader which they need to fix. When the FMC shows “Working…” it indicates an operation is in progress.
  • Sometimes when entering an airway and the exit fix, the airway name will change to the shared airway, however the routing is still correct.
  • You cannot currently select Direct-To of a fix on your approach that is not the initial approach fix. This is a limitation of the sim flightplan system at present. We are currently overhauling the flight plan management system to allow for much more flexibility and stability.
  • After using Direct-To, the navigation will not always automatically sequence to the next fix and may enter ROL mode. You can re-activate NAV to navigate to the next fix if you encounter this issue.
  • The aircraft is still using the built-in MSFS autopilot (for now). All the existing limitations of that still apply. It does behave a bit better with the various enhancements applied.
  • FLC stability appears to have regressed with the autopilot aircraft energy calculation changes in 1.9.3. We have made some improvements to this behavior in this update. We will continue to investigate after the 13 October 2020 patch is released.
  • Some flight plan distances are still misreported when the approach is activated. We will look at this more carefully after the Asobo update.

Well, what can I say other than: you complete me <3

Seriously though, thank you for delivering yet another killer update. Good luck tomorrow!

Awesome update. The briefing makes this totally immersive with my MMO.

Thanks a mil.

Excellent work. Few questions. Is there a TOGA mode that I’m missing? Can you possibly implement being able to change pitch of the FD with the VS wheel when in pitch mode? I think ABOSO messed up with the flight director when you’re flying manually. It gives pitch cues but not bank when turning to a new heading/capturing loc/ intercepting Nav.

There should be a TOGA mode enabled by pressing the buttons on the ends of the throttles but it’s not implemented yet. Also the FD is pretty bad already from Asobo.

Thank you very much for the Mod if you can fix or create the autopilot please make it your priority and fell free to charge for it. I can’t believe they broke the sim so much I was enjoying cj4 with your mod so much prior to Japan update now I’m devastated.

The pitch stability of the AP should be increased with this latest version. Are you still getting AP issues?

Unfortunately, a full AFCS system for autopilot is extremely complex and is a long term item. It’s on our list, but it’s going to be a while. We obviously can’t charge for modifying the IP of someone else, but it isn’t something we would want to do either. It’s a fun hobby for us, not a paid gig.:slightly_smiling_face:

In pitch mode you should be able to set the FD with the VS scroll wheel. Can you implement that somehow?

I didn’t have a chance to check your latest version yet I’ll guess it will be after tomorrow’s update I hope things will improve and your patch will fallow. Are you saying there is a less of a dolphin dance with your update ?

We have mostly, but not completely, eliminated the dolphin effect.

Awesome!

Also nice to see you were able to work out some of the issues I raised :innocent:

I really love your mod!

Does anyone got a POH or performance charts?

I just had a short flight from EDDH to EHAM and can confirm the positive feedback! The plane flies smoother than ever and the new features are great. But is it intentional that I don’t see a hint in the MFD anymore when the parking brake is set? It is a little irritating. Apart from that just a great project!

The parking brake CAS message now matches the real plane behavior: you will only get a parking brake warning (yellow, not red) when your throttle is above 70% and the parking brake is still engaged.

Thanks for the update! Makes sense to me

I was able to make a smooth climb to FL420 without any oscillation. Thanks!!

Keep 'em coming, we appreciate good QA :+1:t2:

I had to leave and couldn’t test the CJ4, but I just saw on Discord one of the devs say:

So far we haven’t noticed any alterations on Asobo’s end to the code surface we use
Plane seems to boot up OK so far

Can someone else confirm the avionics issue?

That is interesting. Maybe I jumped on conclusions because I simply came to expect that something is broken after an asobo update…

Edit: I did. Going straight from the update screen to the sim apparently caused some mods to not load (but the G36 was loaded). weird.

Now this is what I call an UPDATE!
keep up the good work guys really enjoy your stuff.
