Working Title G1000 NXi Discussion Thread

Yep plus 10 characters

LOL, I might tackle IFR next. Taking longer flights has gotten me comfortable with working the radios now as something is needed to pass the time.

you need to select an altitude, if not the ALT mode of FLC mode will keep the current selected altitude

What would be the case for selecting Vectors over a Straight transition? Something else confusing in terminology is Straight often isn’t straight.

If I create a Direct To is there a way to delete/remove it. Only way I can find that works is to restart the sim.

Found this in the Garmin manual for the C172. Didn’t test it, though.

What a coincidence: it just so happened that I wanted to do the same thing yesterday and couldn’t figure it out either. I was going to try and search for the answer but now I just hope some kindly soul comes to our aid!

Did anybody in this topic ever explain why this is the case? E.g. how the G1000 calculates wind speed/direction? TIA

The MENU key doesn’t seem to work with the Direct-to Window selected I tried from both the PFD and MFD so not sure if it’s implemented or I am doing something wrong.

I’ve not seen anything written on this, but the Garmin obviously knows your heading and IAS and can calculate TAS from the altitude/air pressure and it also has your ground track from the GPS so the difference is the wind vector.

In order for a GPS to calculate external wind speed and direction it has to be in the moving airmass, which only happens once airborne. The GPS compares true airspeed to actual ground speed, and selected track to the actual track over the ground to determine what direction the wind is coming from and its velocity. These parameters cannot be measured until the aircraft is actually flying.

Sorry. I just tried it, too. Doesn’t work for me, either…

I brought this up a couple of months ago…never got a reply.

The check must be in the mail, we hope.
:grinning:
By the way, the procedure I posted above from the Garmin manual DOES work as described in the default G1000.

Thanks for trying. Thought I was going mad.

This has come up a few times in this thread. The Direct-To menu is not implemented. To exit a direct-to, simply activate a plan leg or go direct to any other fix.

What a pity :frowning:

Patience …

It’s definitely not a showstopper.

A G1000 NXi system costs an insane amount of money for retrofit or as a new option in a real life airplane.

I’d love to have a legit Sirius XM implementation too. Where I could link my accounts and pipe through to my virtual avaititon headphones.
