World ground models replaced with white/blue sprites

 Thank you for using the Bug section, using templates provided will greatly help the team reproducing the issue and ease the process of fixing it.

Are you using Developer Mode or made changes in it?

No

Have you disabled/removed all your mods and addons?

No, I’m using 3rd party airports

Brief description of the issue:

A couple of times recently when approaching to a 3rd party airport (not sure if it’s only connected to 3rd party content though) I have completely lost the 3D models (buildings, trees, etc) of the stock world scenery. The models have been replaced with two-dimensional white/blue sprites, looking like boxes all over the scenery.
In connection to his issue, I have usually also lost ground textures at the airport of arrival, and also nearby airports (both 3rd party and stock airports), which results in purple ground colour.

Provide Screenshot(s)/video(s) of the issue encountered:

NOTE: The building seen at the bottom of the firts image is part of a 3rd party airport scener, which is why it didn’t disappear. Only stock 3D models seem to be affected, not 3rd party scenery.

ICAO or coordinates (DevMode > Debug > Display position)

Around EICK this time.
It has happened around EKBI previously

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:

This is not a bug, it’s an issue with your system. Bugs are for the sim itself, not 3rd party addons , or where the problem can’t be reproduced. Try posting in support first to see if others have the problem or the solution. Good luck.

How do you mean? I’m on Xbox so it’s not like I can tweak the system out of spec :man_shrugging:

See above.. sorry, I just edited my original comment

But it has affected stock scenery only, not the 3rd party scenery that I’m approaching to. The problem might of course have been triggered by me approaching a 3rd party scenery causing the stock sim to exceed memory usage, but I still think it’s a relevant bug to report. Especially since the majority of simmers are using some kind of 3rd party content these days, so it could affect anyone really.

I did search for similar bug reports to ensure that I don’t create a dublicate, but I couldn’t find it to the best of my ability so I created it as a new bug finding.

I don’t see how this cannot be considered a bug just because I can’t give exact conditions for how to replicate it. We know that most bugs in MSFS are complex and depends on multiple factors, so it’s almost impossible for a normal user to identify the exact combination of conditions needed to replicate it. But ok, let’s keep it in the community support section and see what kind of feedback we might get here.

I think the point is that it doesn’t seem to have been reported elsewhere, and given the millions of people who use the sim, with bugs you’d typically see lots of people reporting the same or similar problem.
Have you checked the third party scenery vendors support platform to see if anyone else has had a similar issue?

Remove all your third party addons, and try the sim.
Is the issue still there?
If not, add your third party addons back a few at a time, and then trying the sim, so you can narrow down which is (are) causing the issue.
You can then contact the developer of that one (or those) and see if they have a fix.

The problem with the suggested approach is that this issue does not occur every time in a consistent and predictable way. It has only occurred twice for me, ever, and with a few weeks in between. In other words, this bug is most likely far less frequent than the other commonly known issues such as Black Avionics Screens, loss of ATC audio, etc. And even those bugs are not reproducable in a reliable and predictable way, they come and go with seemingly little to no logic, as is heavily discussed in other topics on this forum.

One time is no time, but twice is a trend (which is a saying we use here in Sweden). Thus I didn’t report this the first time around. But when it happened to me a second time, I thought it was worth reporting this.

It’s worth mentioning that the two occurrences I have had happened in completely different locations, and the 3rd party airports I was heading towards are from completely different developers. So I see it as very unlikely that this is closely related to the specific 3rd party content. I rather believe that this is yet another possible outcome due to loss of ram memory on the Xbox Series X

Mod conflicts, which are known to cause issues similar to this can be from any mod you have. I have seen third party airports affect aircraft nowhere near them.
Mods which could cause this type of scenario do not need to be involved in the flight or connected to each other in any way.
