World Updates - please use numbers not Roman numerals (or sort Content Manager by Release Date)

Please consider using numbers instead of Roman Numerals when naming World Updates, City Updates, Local Legends, Famous Flyers, etc. After all it’s not MSFS MMXXIV.

It’s fine for a few, but when you are planning on dozens, it does become much harder to decipher, and more importantly, harder to sort in the Marketplace list.

Edit - perhaps like the AIRAC cycle naming: World Update 2312 would be 2023 December. Concise, informative, sorts properly.

Edit 2 - or allow sorting of the Content Manager by release date!

It’s easy.

I = 1
V = 5
X = 10
L = 50
C = 100
D = 500
M = 1000

MMXXIII = 2023

No one said it was hard. :blush:

How about like the AIRAC cycle - an established, concise naming convention:

World Update 2312 - that way we know the date, and it sorts properly in the marketplace.

Or if you prefer Latin:

Quomodo fere similis est cycli AIRAC - constitutio, concisa nominatio conventionis; Mundus Renovatio 2312 - hoc modo diem cognoscimus, et proprie in foro digeritur.

Careful of the “Codicem conductum”!

Yeah, we’ll leave it there. Voted BTW.

For the Forum Mods - I notice a new “Globe” (Translate) button under posts that have non-English? But when I click it I get this error…

perhaps Bing doesn’t recognize Latin? But it’s the year MMXXIII…

Yes, please use numbers!

Here are some of the most widely used:

  • 一 one
  • 二 two
  • 三 three
  • 四 four
  • 五 five
  • 六 six
  • 七 seven
  • 八 eight
  • 九 nine
  • 十 ten
  • 十一 eleven
  • 十二 twelve
  • 十三 thirteen
  • 十四 fourteen
  • 十五 fifteen
  • 十六 sixteen

Describing the current beta testing for Sim Update 十四 , looks just right!

Funilly enough, I can read Japanese numbers - much easier than Roman numerals for me. But, the marketplace still sorts by US alphanumeric

OK - slightly off topic, but…

Google Translate at one time had an Easter egg related to Lorem Ipsum. The first two words would translate to “Hello World.” With each added word of the traditional first sentence, the translation would change to something else. But the time you got to Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit it would revert back to “This is boring.”

By the way, if you have no clue what I’m talking about, you can learn all you never wanted to know here!

What in the name of Superbowl LVIII is this all about

Flight sim math.
Clear to depart runway III-V climb and maintain flight level XXIII

Agreed. At first it was easy but now it’s just taking up space and making it difficult to reference or even remember when certain updates happened.

I was going to use Superbowl as an example - but didn’t want to start a riot. I would prefer Superbowl 2024 (… cue the riot).

It does! It looks like an aeroplane and a map! Perfect.

You get one Brownie point for “aeroplane”.

But this is easier. 2023 means…2023. Besides, what have the Romans ever done for us?

Ok folks, let’s stay on track and keep to compliant posts. This topic is starting to come off the rails. Thank you.
