Just restart and see what happens, looks like something wrong on your system, or you are not on your GPU but on the integrated graphics cars?
Also, whats that CPU? That does not exist afaik.
EDIT: oh, thats a laptop.
And how do you get 40GB RAM? That sounds strange aswell…

It’s a laptop. 40gb = 1 stick of 8 and 1 stick of 32. This game ran PERFECTLY before the latest updates.
I’ve restarted, checked settings, done everything I know to do. Tried clamping FPS to 45 in the NVIDIA settings. This is what I’m getting, you can see its barely using any RAM or GPU.
Performance is same whether I do DX11 or DX12.
try to switch back to DX11 setting… and as @HXArdito mentioned. try a restart
EDIT: ah… you restarted already… hmmm… you tried allready a different airplane thatn these mod ?
Yes, restarted half a dozen times by now. Tried switching back to DX11. I will do it again now, and try a different airplane. It’ll take 10-15 minutes to do all this with the way it’s performing right now.
OK, changed to DX11, using a simple stock plane, other than the plainly obvious in this photo, does anyone see problems with the numbers? No real improvement in FPS, still totally unplayable.
Your cpu is the problem. Lower your lod sliders.
hmmm… intressting is to see the diff in dx11 vs dx12 ( by main thread vs by gpu )… but that not explain the gap in fps… there are no other changes , e.g. a driver update ?
I ask me… can the shadercache cause trouble
@HXArdito … I thought he changed nothing to former setting… but yes, LOD to high can cause that too.
Thats a very strangeconfig which i think should not even be done like this. Did it come stock like that or did you made this?
lots of laptop users do this kind of mem config… but they lost of course some speed-up-features like dual channel…

exactly. id recommend to remove that 8GB stick as it is unnecessary anyway and does more harm than good.

never change a running system … he mentioned it works former fine with steady fps. But yes,… in case he have some money left it would be intressting what “wins” : the beneffit of dual channel or the free amount of memory for cacheing etc , but then with single channel.

It came with two 8GB sticks, I changed one 8GB to a 32GB. I have no problem removing the 8GB stick but it still begs the question “why was it working fine before the most recent updates?” You seem to keep glossing over that detail and wanting me to make fundamental changes to my system.
Oh no, i dont want you to do anything. Keep it as it is if it works.
Sorry, i dont know how to fix your problem.
ähmm… nope… requested was to change the LOD… the RAM config was a side-discussion…
Always make memory in power of 2. ( 2 - 8 -16 -32 - 64 - 128) etc
Hint: Computers deal with binary values - 0 & 1. So, if you use powers of 2, your hardware will use 100% of the registers.
MSFS is for PhD on areas of settings. LOL…Joking aside, for some reason MSFS is behaving different in VR and Monitor alone. I get 70 fps but 10 - 15 VR. The setting in VR is almost as if I have a garbage GPU. There are some issues with optimization. You need to go down one setting on everything. Try that. Restart the PC after you do the changes. It should go up to your previous settings. For some reason LOD is not working right for some people. Start with 100 then go up little by little. I bet is that what is causing your low FPS.

I will go in and mess with the LODs and report back. But it’s so annoying that an update takes something from perfectly fine to a hot mess like this.
Honestly, i dont think it was the update, there seems to be something wrong, but without having acess and see your settings, we can only guess.
But you never know, so many different systems might react different.
How is it in other games, also low fps?

What happens is that sometimes the update changes the settings for you without even noticing it. For me, it changed the traffic area to almost 100 percent. I never have traffic since I use vatsim. The only thing i keep to 50 percent is cars on the road, i care less about ships and fauna…LOL.
First of all…I apologize for being a little snippy, this is SO frustrating. I appreciate all your ideas and desire to help.
So I’ve been messing around with things some more, finally gained access to the .EXE file, and under Compatibility, I checked the box to Disable Full Screen Optimizations. Fired up the sim again and there was a marked improvement. 20-30 FPS now, but still extremely stuttering compared to prior experience. But I can get off the ground and maintain a trajectory at least.
EDIT: Other games have been fine, nothing bad. Assetto Corsa is probably the only other graphics-intensive game I play, which is a far cry from FS2020, but AC gives me consistent 100+ FPS.
Here are my FS graphics settings…I will keep playing around with these but please do suggest changes. I’ll also be getting my screwdriver out to remove the 8GB RAM stick later today.
