Worse Performance - SU7 - FPS

Agreed… Terrible…
I9-10850K
RTX 3070
16GB 3600Mhz

And cant get passed 40fps in the air and 30 on the ground and I get drops to around 20FPS… Its getting beyong a joke now

1+ Yes, it is terrible .

Im waiting the next update…

But you wouldn’t previously possibly because the PG had already been cached? Maybe you did originally and you just forgot?

I fly regularly in London which has pretty heavy PG and I’ve had no impact on fps. I have the area cached so I can only assume you people are suffering because of streaming in a heavy amount of data during the start of a flight? If you are at a busy airport with AI I guess that could compound the issue?

What happens if you ensre rolling cache is enabled and has been deleted since the last patch, sit on the tarmac for a few minutes before pushback/takeoff, is the performance still poor then?

The problem (like many others) is still not fixed with the new update. Asobo seems to be overstrained with fixing the game…

I can’t play the game since months. The sim is such a dissapointment, l wish l still could get a refund.

unfortunately, I’m at this point too. I just can’t be bothered to boot the game up now since all the performance issues.

I tried again with the latest update, but if anything the performance feels a bit worse, not better.

I don’t think Asobo are coping well with this sim. I don’t see it improving, I just see it slowly getting worse.

which performance issue prevent you to play the game and you expect should be fixed ?

I too no longer boot the sim up because of the degradation in graphics and performance. It’s literally getting worse and it’s quite upsetting.

I’m still supporting Asobo and have vouched for them since release, but lately its becoming too much. They don’t seem to be listening though :frowning:

I don’t necessarily have worse performance… I just keep getting switched to ‘offline mode’ because it says my bandwidth is too low… even though i have 100mbs download… makes no sense.

please post comparable examples for your issue which match with the topic “worse performance”, so that we can compare and/or give hints… eg. your system-specs, game-settings, used mods ( where you not should forget that there exist a third-party category ), performance values which are in your opinion worst, etc.

Otherwise about what should we discuss here in this issue-topic ? “degra…of” is just a wide range…

For more generall discussions / rants / whatever we have the blue category, as you allready know:

*AA has progressively gotten worse since mid-late 2021, seems like it may have been happened in the latest Sim update for me. The amount of shimmering (on edges of objects/water) and aliasing on all scenery objects has increased. Aliasing is worse for me on everything other than the aircraft itself.

*Cloud pixelation. I think there’s plenty of talk on this. Since late-ish 2021 the clouds again became extremely pixelated around the edges. They also suffer from some horrid contrast/brightness issues which make them look watercolour-y/flat in most conditions

*Performance. FPS was fine after the performance update, however in the subsequent patches it has gotten worse. In fact, it seems like it has degraded below launch performance for me personally. Flying a Cub around Nanwalek use to get me 60-75FPS, and now averages me around 50-60 max with a low of 40-45. I can say similarly around dense areas with the FBW A320 eg. YSSY, clear conditions as a standard condition - 50-60FPS average now dropping to 30-45. Flying the A320 through dense cloud also has a bigger impact on FPS than I recall it having. Sure the FPS is doable, I’m not expecting 120FPS, but the fact that there has been a degradation is frustrating when I was able to achieve a near consistent 60FPS.

*When flying in areas with mountains (try Alaska, or try the area of the Bugalaga landing challenge in PNG), there’s a faint horizontal line in the distance that cuts through the mountains in the distance. It’s hard to explain so I’ve attached a picture.

*Blurry textures. Ground textures (satellite imagery) have gotten worse, they’re just not crisp anywhere. This is probably my biggest gripe with the graphics at the moment.

*LOD. Even with the inclusion of adjusting LOD to 400 in sim, the LOD has reduced significantly since launch. There’s still heaps that won’t render in the distance where it once use to.

I know a lot of what I’ve said is anecdotal, but these are my experiences I’m sharing on the forum.

Ryzen 5 3600, 2070 Super, 32GB RAM, 1440p, Nvidia driver 497.29. All my settings are the default “High” with a couple options turned off or down to medium (lens flare, lens correction are off, buildings and trees and medium).

EDIT: The forum has compressed the image so its difficult to see the horizontal line I’m referring to. You can see it in this crop of the photo

I used to get 40fps in general, now getting degradation to below 20 over the course of a flight.
RTX3070, Ryzen 7 3600XT with 32GB DDR4 RAM at 3200MHz.
AI traffic for me is off as I use VATSIM.
Sounds like a bug that needs to be fixed!

this is the relevant part for that topic

I would assume all above 30fps is fine for a sim and I also assume, in case you might simple disable the fps counter you will not notice these fps-range, at least in case you flight a civilian airplaine. Also it is comparable with other existing flight-sims on the market which works in same fps range and that with more expensive hardware than a 2070s ( and often less details on ground ). FPS drops caused by mods is nothing what the core app can avoid ( easy say’d ).

If you limit the fps of the sim and may be use things like v-sync, you should also not notice any kind of “stutters” sometime caused from fps-jumps.

Its of course up to you that you not play a game which give you min 40fps in WQHD with older hardware, but it is ( of course in my opinion only ) not a reason for that. I expected to read a realy horror-fps-scenario

About the shimmering , AA , etc exist differnent topics, its out-off-topic here.

if you not play in 4K you should reach usually 40fps… On ground it can be sometime lower and within 2x range.

I own a 2080TI and have a max limit at 37fps in 3840x1600. Without the limit I can see also >50fps, but I dont need that and I get a better “image” with the max-vsync-limit. On ground , depend on airport, sometime 25fps. All settings in Ultra… typical airplane mooney, junkers, helicopter…
Most users are not aware how much impact the used airplane have… I get e.g. higher fps with a C172s…

im running it in 1440p. With a mixture of medium high to ultra settings

Currently on average of 30% CPU and max 50% GPU usage giving average 21fps whilst sitting on the stand setting up. Why is the game not taking full advantage?

now… 30% can mean “one core” and then its clear that gpu not get enough work. I not wonder that this happens more often happens on ground , there are the “objects”.
In another topic a user wrote he can reach 144fps with “average settings” in WQHD and so he increase the settings till reach a range 70-90fps. This can mean, that your settings are to high ( for ground ).
I assume you get also much higher fps in the air ?

About optimzations we can only wait and there is a little hope for the new DX12 implementation. May be this can utilize the hardware much better. It just takes time to implement software…

There are of course other factors which may limit the fps… its just a multiplayer game which needs lots of syncs. And then the different airplanes, mods… as mentioned, you can try the same position with a C172 and compare the fps.

currently at 37000ft and getting 35fps with 30% CPU and 40% GPU.
So not really an improvement… seems the game is not using the computer properly

again 30% … then you are realy limited by one core… we have some topics which in-game-settings can reduce these.

which ones can I change for this

Installed the mandatory updates yesterday, and all of a sudden I am down from a steady 45-50 FPS and a wonderful experience to seriously 3 or 4 FPS. Its unplayable. It’s slower in every aspect - initial loading, navigating menus, loading into fly, everything.
