Wow. I went back to FS2020 for IFR airliner flights. And it is amazing!

So I went back to FS2020, after 5 months of solely FS2024, and wow, I am absolutely amazed on how well everything runs. The FPS are great, other aircraft are properly visible, no LOD issues, etc etc.

Yes, I do prefer the light effects in FS2024, and for low level VFR flights FS2024 is the best, but for IFR airliners, FS2020 will be my sim to go until FS2024 has made some major improvements.

You want to see it in VR…..

MSFS 2024 is a fail. MSFS 2020 is still not complete. DX12 still in beta, Simulator will run in background after exiting to desktop etc. They decided to develop another sim on foundations of existing one which isn’t complete. Anyways.. Microsoft..

This is fixed in the beta that I am running.

Ohh in 2020?

Yes. The FS2020 SU16 beta.

Good to know, it has been a while.

At last, I’m tired of having to go to task manager and kill it.

The only place where 2024 can be superior is for night flying. Too bad the night lighting is completely exaggerated, but it adds eye candy. If it would be more real (more light and vivid than 2020, but not the current light festival it is), would be a significant improvement over 2020, which was kinda “dead” (too plain) and dark (XP12 nails the night lighting).

at the moment, my pmdg airliners are pretty much the only thing keeping me from uninstalling 2020, i need them in my life
once pmdg upgrades them for 2024 i think that will be it for me

imo msfs2020 just looks bad and has jitter when panning, not going back to it. It certainly does not look amazing. Msfs 2024 is the new norm. You can play the old one, thats nostalgic.

That reminds me, I think I still have FSX on Steam. I should fire that up again one of these days. I bet the FPS will be phenomenal on my current hardware, and ATC that works for multi-leg hops.

I hope all the still existing bugs are not considered the new norm by you

Heh, not so fast. Unfortunately, FSX is stuck in the dual core days but if you look directly at the sky, you should get 300fps easy.

In response to OP, good for you! Me personally, I’ve been having a bit of a flightsim crisis just lately. I fire up the sim, then talk myself out of flying anything. Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t another “flame MSFS” post, love them both. I’m not really sure what it is. For now, I’m enjoying trying different types of games that I’ve had sat on hdd for years and never touched.

In the words of Arnold, “I’ll be back.”

Last time I compared FSX and MSFS the latter had 2x more fps with the same airplane, airport and runway. FSX can’t utilise modern hardware. Unless you have 15 years old PC… only then FSX will run better.
