CTDs are very common on Series X on long haul flights. Any flight over 7 hours is almost a guaranteed CTD since SU5. It wasn’t an issue before but has become rampant and widespread among basically all Series X. Ironically Series S actually fares better in this regard.
On a positive note, however, zendesk has replied to my tickets and taken telemetry data from my console which tells me the needle is moving and the issue is getting the attention it deserves.
Keep reporting ctds on Xbox to zendesk and we’ll see progress.
I dont have any issues at all with long haul flights, did an 11 hour flight just this past week with no issue at all. Did some 7 and 8 hour flights also and again no CTD. Most that have CTD have a faulty install as said by microsoft themselfs. Those that do I recommend follow the guidelines, complete uninstall, turn the xbox completely off which also means unplugging the power cord for atleast 5 minutes then do a reinstall of the sim but dont do anything else while it is installing.
They do work occasionally. But on Series X specifically there is a memory leak bug I’m the sim at the moment which very often causes ctds on long hauls. It is very widespread.
Consider yourself very fortunate, sir! That’s great that you’ve been able to do them.
It’s very strange, before the 2 hotfix updates I would get a CTD after a long haul. Now I don’t anymore, but at the end of a long-haul it is still a laggy freezing mess. I even captured a video of me suddenly getting 10-15 FPS out of nowhere at FL380, just curious if I can share that to ZenDesk.
However, I have found a temporary fix to poor performance on a long-haul: simply save the flight, restart the sim, and load back into the flight. Tried it last night with the 787 from KLAX to YSSY, before closing the sim 14 hours in, it was a hot laggy mess. But after restarting and loading in through a save file, it was silky smooth 30 FPS on landing. It might even reduce the likelihood of a CTD.
Agree this does help, but it also counts as starting a new flight for some reason which will ruin achievements- for example, Frequent Flyer Miles will not pop if this is done (LFBD to KSEA).
A good workaround as well is to disable all AI traffic and RW traffic turn nameplates and other players off, and lower all AI generated content like cars and airport workers to zero. This reduces severe frame drops and ctds (sometimes) on approach and landing - especially at busy airports.
I’m on a Series X with the Hotas 1 and keyboard and mouse and controller. Once I figured out how to map the Hotas buttons, I haven’t had ANY issues except having to re input sensitivity settings… As far as how my Xbox is running, I haven’t had any crashes or freezes. Smooth as silk, honestly. Of course, I only have one other game on the xbox hard drive.. I have over 250gigs of FREE Space on the xbox hard drive.. Other than that, no issues. I am getting the “expedite to x elevation” bug but whatever… I turn off live weather and that’s gone.. But people saying crashes and freezes are rampant on the Xbox just can NOT be the case. I don’t see how with the results I’m getting…
Well i am currently reinstalling at the moment using the exact advice of Patrickb1973.
He seems to know a few things so might be very helpful indeed if it works out.
Fingers crossed and I will let people know how things go once installed.
What’s also really annoying about this is that if you already own those products but bought them directly from them and not through the store then you have to buy them again to use them on Xbox.
I don’t understand that either. Since I bought it I’ve had 3 crashes all in all.
And whilst I wouldn’t say I’m literally spending days on it, I’m not hopping in for an hour or so either.
I can only imagine it can be one of a few things:
It never installed properly
There’s a mod conflict from marketplace
The Xbox is not getting enough ventilation
The Xbox is not upright (best position)
Your internet is weak
Crashes do happen time to time with games. I’ve had plenty installing mods like Skyrim and fallout, I’ve had crashes with cyberpunk, ghost recon and watch dogs legion.
I’d just like to point out, too many posts to read them all, but I never saw anyone go back to the subject. I know Little Nav Map uses Simconnect to get information from FS, and I imagine SimBrief does, too. If that’s the case, SimBrief, and any other product that relies on Simconnect, will never come to Xbox as Simconnect will never work on Xbox, at least that is the current scuttlebutt from Matt at Working Title.

I have now reinstalled but due work I have not had the time to really try it properly yet.
I also noticed I need to reinstall all of the world updates again.
Does everybody install all of the world updates or only the ones you want.
I originally had them all installed when I was getting all of my ctd’s but I doubt that was the problem.
For the price of a series X you are not going to find a pc that comes close to that. I use it on the series X with mouse and keyboard and its beautiful, in 4K and smooth with everything maxed out.
Exactly, I do also run it on PC but it doesnt look as beautifull as I get on the Xbox Series X in beautifull 4K on a big screen TV. And hey im getting older so I love having the big cockpit lol
