Excellent comments! I concur/
No “Xbox kids” are telling us that. I don´t even think that a lot of Xbox players are registered here. People here are being really toxic and hating on Asobo and the Xbox players in the last few days. Flight simualators always had complicated communities.
I agree with everything you said but specially the paragraph I have quoted. I am sure you are right, but that wasnt what MS said when they asked for the simmers to come on board and buy into this Sim. All that was said was that it would ‘also’ be available eventually on X-Box.
But what now seems to have happened is that the X-Box has become the standard setter for this sim. Or to put it another way, the PC version wont improve (I am referring to some graphics failings) until there is a new X-Box.
If this is so then MS will quickly lost the interest of the simming community.
The way forward must be two versions. At its core they can share common code. But then each needs to be ‘enhanced’ to the level the hardware people use can handle.
The ‘one size fits all’ has never worked in the IT Programming world as I know from my own experience.
One size fits all = the lowest spec hardware sets the standard.
As I have said before, this latest update has been good for me except for the graphics, most noticably water and cloud rendering.
Now this may well be peculiar to my machine but there does seem to be a downgrade to the rendering to make it fit on the X-Box, something that, as Asobo has acknowledged, was something of a herculian task.
Lets wait and see what MS reaction is. By now they will be aware of the fact that they have been ‘rumbled’ by the PC simmers.
If they are as smart as I think they are, they will react.
You’re angry at the wrong people.
You’re also wrong to demean Xbox users by calling them “xbox kids”. It’s a pretty toxic attitude to have IMHO especially when you are angry at the wrong people. Xbox users have nothing to do with the recent updates, the blame there sits squarely on the desk of people at Microsoft, and to a lesser extent the managers in France.
WE WILL STAD BY MSFS2020
I just feel bad for all the hard core Simmers that went out and bought computer parts at high cost thinking they would have the best graphics in Flightsim. Maybe I will just get a XBOX. It’s really sad that they RUSH to get the console going without having the Simmers that were there for many years on PC up and running first.
I know it is a lot of work and they have done a great job. Get PC working right and then go and get the Newbies on XBOX… lol
Play the game on whatever hardware you want. But when it influences my pc experience by getting massive visual downgrade we have a problem. And this is exactly what happened.
No argument at all with XBox players, the more the better. What folk are angry about is the way the sim was working nearly perfectly, and was then ■■■■■■ by this great rush to launch on Xbox.
On top of the degraded visuals, we now have a toasty 40c at 37k, (forget trying to fly a tubliner in that heat) and despite players aircraft seen on the vfr map, goodluck seeing anyone in flight, no nav lights at night etc, etc
But that’s not the fault of the x-box users tho, so why all the condescending arrogant attitude like “x-box kids” by some, and so on?
Picking on the smaller ones like in High School again?
Most of the Xbox users will be back to COD faster than I can complete a typical flight. Consoles and sims are not compatible. Neither in hardware nor in audience. But consoles and the profits made them number one focus of every gaming company which led to dumber and easier games which lack complexity and depth and to horrible pc ports and unused hardware power. This is why pc users hate consoles.
Funny how things come full circle.
The original flight simulators were played on consoles back in the 80’s. The Commodore 64 was running the original from sub logic. The vast majority of sim flyers used those consoles and not pc’s.
Oh and the 64 stood for the amount of memory.in kilobytes.
We used to ooh and ahh how great it was watching the stick plane. The graphic whiners should be made to play those versions. They would quickly appreciate what we have now.
There’s quite few games on console who aren’t shooters. Calling everybody who owns a console a CoD player is just laughable.
If you don’t like consoles then hate the console not the players.
Speak for yourself!
Hehe. You made me squirt coffee put my nose.
You dont even need to go that far back to appreciate what we have now
Ah I’m staying off this thread now. It’s showing an ugly side to people who seem to look down on anyone who isn’t sat in a basement with a full kitted out cockpit. There’s plenty of xbox users who have waited for this game to come out on console for ages, it’s not their fault. Oh, and COD is rubbish.
Do diehards in here have an image of xbox users like those D&D Players in the 90’s dressed up like going to a renaissance fair ? Crazy… what’s the difference between a Dell, HP, homebuilt, or xbox for games? Let it go people.
PC user here, and one that has his issues with Sim Update 5.
That said I am really happy MSFS runs on the Xbox: this software is so many things on so many different levels that I hope new players will enjoy it.
I am also really looking forward to the fresh inputs and the changes that all the Xbox players will inevitably bring to the market and the community - you guys having a completely different perspective could be one of the most valuable and disruptive things that happened in flight simulation in a while.
I understand the frustration and I think there are issues that need to be solved on the PC side, but I don’t share those views where the Xbox or their users are guilty of insert whatever here.
PCuser too, I also have a PS 4.
I hope the X-boxers have as much fun as I had playing Horizon Zero Dawn and Ghost of Tshushima on my PS4. Holy mackerel, Batman.
Can’t wait for the Gost of Tshushima director’s cut.
We are all xbox kids are we,i cant stand people like you.Im 53yrs and i use xbox, does that make me a kid no it doesn’t its a platform i enjoy, get real.
For me, the Xbox version has returned the faith in the sim. I’ve been simming with MSFS2020 since the alpha/beta. Since the release, things have gone downhill for me. CTDs and other bugs have made me actually hate flight sims, and I haven’t touched a simulator for 4 months.
Now on the Xbox, everything is back to normal again, and I enjoy a stable sim at 4K, without fan noise or noticeable lag.
I’m just waiting for my TM HOTAS to arrive so that I can fly more properly:)
