They called it a memory leak…
A memory leak is a catch-all term for a coding error.

With so many variables, and of course the old addage that correlation isn’t causation.

I’ll be amazed if they fix this bug anytime soon. At least they’re working.on it now. Or at least aware.

For those experiencing their avionics/screens going black, and CTDs, we would love for you to join in this Xbox Stability Test! This is one of the main memory bugs we are hoping to solve with the added telemetry of this build.

Thanks!!

Excellent! Now is the time for all of us that are affected by this memory leak to start the process and to bring that valuable data so it can hopefully create a much bigger picture for the developers to analyze and fix . Here is your chance guys and gals to help gather the data and let’s get rid of this for once and for all .

3 hours flight Los Angeles to kjfk black screen going out in then CTD

Hello @Brice5884,

This beta build does not contain any crash fixes. The only thing it does is sends more detailed logging info to the dev team so they can better diagnose and resolve Xbox CTDs in a future release.

Thanks,
MSFS Team

That’s is what I doing I took off Los Angeles to kjfk while I was in the middle of the flight my screens went out and then CTD I trying to give right information

Hello @Brice5884,

It’s not necessary to post crash information here. All telemetry and data logging is sent automatically. No action is required by Xbox players to participate in this test except manually opting into the beta build.

Thanks,

Did y’all mean allow optional Data collection I don’t see that one y’all put @SeedyL3205 don’t see Enable Allow enhanced error reporting.

Hi @Brice5884,

Please follow the instructions in this post to opt into the new beta test for Xbox players:

Short question - if I just face a black screen without CTD it is also not needed to post a bad report here?

Nobody needs to post reports here. All the data collection occurs automatically for those who opt into this test build.

Hi @SeedyL3205 - sorry to jump in but I am querying whether the instructions given in the post you’ve linked to are correct, as they refer to options and system menu screens that don’t seem to be available?

I’ve posted this in another thread. Forgive me for repeating it but it seems relevant to this particular discussion:

I’m not able to follow the steps listed under the section How to Correctly Enable Crash Reporting So We Don’t Miss Your Data

I am unable to complete the following steps:

  1. Enable Allow enhanced error reporting

This option is not available. However, there is a an option to ā€˜Allow optional user data collection’ (which I’ve ticked)

  1. Head over to the Settings > Account > Privacy & online safety.
  1. Navigate to the Xbox Live privacy > View details & customize > Data collection.
  1. Now change the You can share enhanced error reports setting

It is not possible to follow steps three and four. There is no Xbox Live Privacy screen, nor any of the proceeding screens. I can also see no option to share enhanced error reports setting.

I’m on board, lets track down this bug once and for all!

Thanks for the callout! The instructions have been updated:

From the Console:

  1. Navigate to Settings > System.
  2. Now select ā€˜Console info’.
  3. Check ā€˜Allow optional data collection’
