It’s only since SU10 that i can call the level of performance “ok”. Did we already forgot the massive stuttering and lagg during camera movements, mostly when inside the cockpit prior to SU10? How many times i thought it was going to crash during those stutters and lag. And many times it did. This has improved massively since SU10.
I haven’t started the sim in two weeks and have no desire to. I feel a bit exhausted with all the testing I’ve done recently and the flip flop nature of where we are on Xbox.
You can’t take away visual quality at the cost of performance. It’s a flying sim and the environment is a key aspect of why you fly.
I’ve also put a hold on purchases for the foreseeable future. I no longer have the desire to dip into the marketplace at this moment.
I was hoping the beta would take the improvements around performance and combine them with fixes for ctds. I guess if and when the next beta drops will be crucial.
I’ve been playing other sim games like assetto Corsa competizione and you forget what a joy it is for something to just work and look great when you load it up. We need that feeling back with MSFS it’s been utterly draining this year.
I am very sorry, but how on Earth can you compare Assetto with MSFS. Closed environment versus the whole globe.
I’m really feeling this myself.
I can look back at the last year and can easily pull up a myriad of posts where I was the bastion of positivity in believing the sim was going to come good on Xbox.
Now, I’m just not sure. I’m wondering if there is even a computer yet built that can run this sim as it should.
I don’t understand what is going on here and, frankly, I’m losing the will to even care.
This wasn’t that long ago:
I absolutely understand that the Beta has been brilliant for you and why would you not want to keep it that way ,nothing wrong with that, but you I believe are in the minority of Xbox users who have seen a great improvement with S11 Beta.25.
The majority of Xbox users posting here in my opinion… are definitely not happy with Beta11 and quite naturally primarily want what is best for their personal requirements over anyone elses, that is quite natural human behaviour, but most of us are reasonable people and would probably agree that we don’t want other users game totally ruined so that we can have a great time with the game instead.
But this Beta 11 downgrade is just too much to swallow in my opinion.
It is what it is.
Maybe that’s part of the issue? How the sim streams in content. I’ve asked this question before, does the sim load in the whole globe? If so that’s unnecessary. Maybe if it calculated the flight and loaded in the necessary assets it would produce less load?
But the point stands, in 2022 and for the money I pay I expect things to work.
I’ve opted out from the last beta build, actually. Because of 2 nasty bugs that’s hindering me in my flights.
And offcourse, I do wish for everyone to enjoy their flight simming. But in my opinion, some people are a little bit too much focused on the graphical side of things. I think, with all the added stuff from past, present and no doubt the future, it’s not realistic to think that Xbox, with Series S in particular, will maintain the same level of graphical fidelity we saw in the past. Some sacrifices must be made. But yes, that’s only my personal opinion.
XBOX X
I fear that for many of us on Xbox we are heading back to an SU9 scenario where it was massively degraded for the majority of Xbox users and took something like 5 months or so to correct.I hope any repairs are quicker this time around,or even better let me stay on SU10🙄
So, what are they going to strip from the sim for the next round of whatever enhancements/features they are planning to implement?
And if this really is a case of the Xbox isn’t powerful enough, then they also need to readdress their minimum, recommended and ideal PC specifications, because I can’t get SU10 or SU11 beta to run on my PC like I could with SU9 and earlier — and this after I’ve stripped everything from the sim, tuned off every streamed data source, turned all traffic to 0 and turned the graphics to as low as they can go. And for what it’s worth I have absolutely nothing else installed on my better-than-recommended spec PC, either.
I fear they have created a golem here.
Let me add, too, that the sim isn’t unflyable (though I am completely bemused that you have even dropped out of SU11, yet still sing all the praises), it’s just the tug-o’-war that is exhausting.
Same boat. I feel like I’ve done countless hours of unpaid quality assurance work for this sim. Most of it was aimed toward trying to figure out CTDs. I could barely get a response out of Zendesk, despite the fact that I was being the most helpful I could possibly be by providing any findings in as much detail I could. Now, we’re met with an update that drained the sim of the visual quality that kept most of us flying in the first place. I’m exhausted with it and I’m disinterested in flying when the sim looks like this anyway.
Really? I opted out because of the controller and ATC bugs. The first one is reckoned but will not be fixed until final release, unfortunately. The second one, i can only hope they recognize it as well. Otherwise, I was still happy flying in Beta2, enjoying all my airports and scenerys which now in SU10, i can’t obviously . But those 2 bugs have greater impact for me personally, so I reverted back to SU10.
I participated in the first SU11 beta, and for 3 days with the second one so I know what I’m talking about.
I agree, the ground image quality have decrease, this is blury and I can’t get the crisp image quality I’m used to
This and the ground textures leaking thought the water, yeah, it is difficult to find any pleasure to play this game
Honestly, the graphics downgrade is so aggressive that I can’t believe it would be implemented simply in their most important update until now, which will be celebrating nothing less than a four decades anniversary.
Just imagine Digital Foundry having to do an updated analysis and the hundreds and hundreds of complaints here, in Reddit, YouTube, etc.
The backlash would be just insane. It would be a marketing tragedy, because this would receive the same (if not more) attention than the new content itself.
Oh, and not only this. Helicopters are coming. Just imagine how “beautiful” would be to fly them with all this downgrade.
Edit: Sorry, forgot to mention that crashes aren’t completely eradicated. This experiment wasn’t enough.
The last major visual downgrade was the GOTY release. Basically the same time last year. The big update. Get flight smooth for the big Holliday season!
Now, I have only noticed one stutter with this beta, which is worth noting because the TLOD settings did seem a bit too high to run smooth before. On PC the same adjustments would be made to increase smooth play.
That’s really strange, I’ve been getting tons of stuttering in this beta, but way less crashing.
What planes do you typically fly?
I saw terrain quality degradation and overall graphics quality with SU10. it’s shocking how Asobo broke a good simulator in su10 on PC.
I want revert back graphics from SU9. Terrain resolution and Anti Aliasing.
I agree with this.
SU 11 isn’t in a release state for xbox today.
Apparently the dev team aware now concentrating on adding the anniversary content.
Trouble is no amount of features and content can cover up first impressions of a new release. And the thing to hit you first about SU11 is the very marked visual downgrade.
It’s looking to me (as I commented elsewhere) that the much lauded Anniversary release of SU11 for Xbox is perfectly set up by continuing poor QA and a chunk of over-ambition to be remembered for all the wrong reasons. Which is a real shame. It shouldn’t have to be like this.
We should all be able to look forward to each new update, not come to dread them. If that became the overriding principle of their QA strategy we would all be in a much much better place with this sim.
SU11 is not fit for release in current state - there needs to be at least one or two more iterations. SU10 was in a much better state with two weeks to go than this effort is. And it shows! You can’t hide it in a blizzard of new aircraft and helicopters.
Ok, and do what exactly? Restore the visuals we have with SU10? I’m currently using SU10 and the amount of pop-in and terrain deformity is very present as well. I heard almost nobody about it…I really doubt it’s so much better compared to the beta from what I’ve experienced.
On top of that, losing most of my addons again is giving me headaches.
