It is currently not possible to use the XBOX Controller via XBOX Cloud Gaming. When starting the flight no controls are possible. In the Menus - before the flight - everything is working. But after clicking on “Fly” and spawning on an airstrip nothing works anymore. Instead there are hotkeys shown for Keyboard, not for the Controller.
This is issue is now 3 days old. Please fix it, because a lot of people who can’t afford a high-end PC are left in den cold. For me, I am trying to play on my MacBook M1 via Cloud Gaming with the XBOX-Controller. It is sad that there is at the moment NO possibility to join the community.
I have the same issue, and no re-mapping controls work. I tried to invert cockpit view, and the system is not recording my inputs of the right stick at all.
Using the Xbox controller on Xcloud is quite confusing. I managed to get it working, but only after clearing the reserved space and the save (Settings, on the profile icon on the Xcloud home page, then “Manage Games” and look for MSFS 2024). I don’t know if this was a reflection of the problematic launch. To make it work, sometimes you have to reload the page for it to recognize the controller again. There is also a big flaw! It detects the keyboard, but there is no keyboard support yet for Xcloud, which causes bugs where the simulator gets stuck on the keyboard, and you can’t use the controller or it switches to another layout (Reloading the Xcloud page makes it work again, as it recognizes the Xbox controller again).
Additionally, using the EFB on Xcloud is not good, it’s very bad. They should have included an optional virtual keyboard on the EFB to interact with it virtually. If you try to use flight planning on the EFB, it opens an external window for you to type, but when you enter what you typed as an ICAO, the EFB does not search for the airport and gets stuck on that.
@batmanuffm Could you update your title to talk about the Xbox controller flaws in 2024 Xcloud in general? This would be helpful since Xcloud has little visibility on the forum.
Same issue here only way I got it to work was to restart the game like 20 times eventually it works me thinking ima have a good time the game starts glitching and crashes when spawning in airport
And, do you have to map everything manually to the Controller or is it pre-mapped? I did only see Gamepad 2024 Transversal as configuration which did not cover essential controls respectively did not work controlling the Cessna for example.
Push xbox button and go to start menu and then back afain into the game, it might say it lost connection but upon reloading it jumps back in and voila the controller works and game is fantastic!
But this needs to be fixed ASAP!!
Its actually the same on 2020 if you are idle to long, it ends up in keyborad mode since a couple of months back!
Played on cloud on my pc too and same problem, but couldnt do the same fix there, but still got it working some how.
But this bug is REALLY game breaking!
Everybody trying this game casually on cloud will never touch it again after getting into a plane and its basically just the stick that works.
I also have the same issue. I have to quit the game and reload again if I want to take a new flight because when I load menu with esc button on the keyboard, my controller will not work again
Basically I have the same issues on PC Xcloud. Usually if I open the EFB Flight plan, when I type on the new window opened to type, that tends to trigger this bug. But it’s not the only way to trigger it.
Another bug was trying to create my own controller profile, at the moment the window opens to set the name and setting of the new profile, I become unable to do anything else with my controller.
Longtime PC Flight-Simmer, decided to learn the XBOX flying ropes back on on 2020, as (lets face it), that’s where the world is going.
In 2024, wondering why controller mappings in XBOX versions don’t align ( I play on XBOX and on another machine using the Cloud version).
There was a brief moment yesterday when I fired up the Cloud version, and it seemed controller setting had aligned with base XBOX version…but it was a fleeting moment.
And, sometimes…I check the controller settings/bindingd, and they seemt o align with the base version, yet these inputs dont work and it defaults to some other set of defaults
This problem is more serious than I thought. I tried adjusting the sensitivity controls in the game menu, but I can’t access the sensitivity section on the right side. There’s an unnecessary requirement—at least for Xcloud—which seems to be the need for a mouse, something we currently can’t use on Xcloud. This doesn’t happen in the 2020 version; I’ll leave a photo.
Regarding the ground quality, it’s worse than the 2020 version. Unfortunately, Xcloud is nothing more than a Series S, which is also dealing with this poorly rendered ground. Additionally, the FPS is very poor.
I made a video showing the problem I mentioned earlier regarding the use of the EFB on Xcloud, which is terrible. As you can see in the video, when you add a departure airport and input an ICAO code, the typing screen appears (as it does in other games too). You can type and insert the data, but the EFB doesn’t react to the entered value. However, notice that when I click again to input, voilà, the airport is there and ready to be selected. But after you enter the typing window and exit, it erases the inserted text. It’s frustrating.
Hi.
I did manage to get one flight in MSFS 2024 and I was impressed but upon coming back later had the same problems I could do all the selection with the Xbox controller but upon selecting fly it resorted back to windows control, rendering the Xbox useless.
I know this is a new program but this really is a basic error, hope they sort it out before the next subscription is due
please Jorg and team. I haven’t flown a meter with FS24 because my mouse and flight stick from airbus doesn’t work.
The mouse has become the basis to look around in the cockpit and outside. The mouse spins like a top. There are so many complaints about this. The update didn’t help me. For 4 days I can’t do anything with FS24.
This issue is now 3 days old and it is not possible, with all due respect, that a multi billion company such as Microsoft can not issue a hotfix for this game breaking bug. Extremely disappointed
Mouse and Keyboard Dependency in 2024:
The FS2024 seems overly dependent on mouse and keyboard inputs, which is not feasible on Xcloud. This could be addressed to make it similar to FS2020. For instance, I cannot adjust the sensitivity of my controls because it’s impossible to access the adjustment bar using a game controller.
Buggy Controller Experience:
The controller functionality on Xcloud is very buggy, which seems to reflect issues happening on the physical console as well.
Issues with the New EFB (2024):
Using the new EFB introduced in FS2024 is a terrible experience on Xcloud. When trying to input information, it doesn’t yield any results. This seems to be related to the text input window that appears in Xcloud, which is non-functional. Again, FS2020 serves as a benchmark here—it works perfectly on Xcloud.
Inibuilds Tablet Problems:
The Inibuilds tablet is another nightmare. For example, if you try to enter your SimBrief ID or input weights manually, a text input window pops up. However, even after entering data, the window disappears, and the controls freeze. This forces a simulator restart to resolve the issue.
King Air B300 Touch Screen Issues:
On Xcloud, the touch screens in the King Air B300 are completely non-functional—you cannot click on anything. I’m unsure if this issue exists on the physical console.
Ground Texture Quality:
The ground quality is terrible. I expected a significant improvement with streaming technology, but there hasn’t been any noticeable enhancement.
Summary:
Overall, FS2024 on Xcloud is riddled with bugs and is far from being functional.
