XCloud - Xbox Controller flaws in MSFS2024 / Flying impossible!

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

When loading a flight the game will sometimes change the controller layout, thus meaning I can’t press “Start” button to bring up the menu. The control layout will be usually “Select” change view, but “select” sometimes becomes a menu pop up which only lets me quick select some minimal options like resetting flight. I can’t then press “start” to bring up the menu and back out, I have to reset the entire game. It’s very weird.

Yo ya me he dado de baja!

XBox control implementation is a mess. Even with a third party yoke and throttle that worked flawlessly in 2020, in 2024 there’s all sorts of wierdness … some controls are recognised from it, some from the controller; isn’t a bind issue - even with one or the other not even connected, some basic stuff doesn’t work - like that start button, only an actual controller pressing A will do the trick.

Let’s wait and see if tomorrow’s or Tuesday’s patch, which promises to be big, will fix this problem in Xcloud. I mean, this one among other problems.

I don’t find the workaround too big a deal, honestly. Annoying, certainly, and I wish it wasn 't needed, but it has become part of my standard start-up process now and it doesn’t add a huge amount of extra time. Once I’ve quit/re-started the Xbox app everything works well enough for me.

Anyone else stuck on this on Xcloud. How annoying.

nope, that’s not working. I guess we’re back to not being able to play… sigh
It’s basically a month of Ultimate thrown away due to this buggy mess…

They made the Simulator unusable in Xcloud. What agony that is. It wasn’t working well anymore, so now it doesn’t work anymore.

Have a look at this workaround:

Does that really not work?

No still not working

Emailed support last night directed me to the workaround too, which isn’t working for me either.

So, I have XBox because I don’t want to get involved in this Beta stuff. I just want to play the game.

This is completely unacceptable.

Microsoft are hardly a small outfit.

Please fix and advise that you have fixed it.

As usual, the hardware Microsoft sell is a second class citizen to PC users. They are bonkers.

I managed to get mine to work by doing the following fix: Clear the game’s reserved space in the Xcloud configuration menu. Clearing it makes it come back without the failure warning and without going into safe mode. Try it and see if it solves it. Important because there are a lot of people with the same problem.

It will load and at first it may still not have controls. Once it finishes loading and you reach the game launch page, reload the Xcloud page.

Instructions for clearing the reserved space:

Click on your profile icon in the top right corner of Xcloud. Go to settings. Manage Games. Look for MSFS 2024. And click on clear reserved space (You don’t need to delete the game save). This should force you to start all over again and try if that fixes the issue. Maybe.

If it works for you guys, I will flag jummi to create a new workaround.

Thank you. This works when the “official” MS workaround did not. And yes, there’s still the “reload to get the controller working” bug, but at least that workaround does still work.
