The only thinig I miss is my Ortho scenery. I hope the streaming gets better in FS2020. It’s nowhere near the same as the high res ortho I used to fly in X-Plane.
I did the same thing yeah was a big waste of money.
I honestly kinda struggle to understand what “X-Plane has nothing to worry about” even means. X-Plane is Austin’s pet project, and wouldn’t go anywhere even if a couple hundred people used it. The mobile version makes him more money. There are boomers who will insist on using it forever, because they have their bespoke payware setups configured just the way they like it. MSFS is unlikely to come to Linux or OSX, so there’s that too.
If you mean “nothing to worry about”, in the sense that the flight model isn’t quite right relative to XP, or the AP is a bit of a mess right now, then you’re daft. This new sim is less than a week old, and has yet to get so much as a single patch in response to any post-release feedback.
I wish they’d been allowed to let the sim cook for at least a few more months, to sort out some of the more glaring issues with AP and the airliners, but it is what it is. At least we can all now experience it for ourselves, and provide the feedback they need.
There is literally nothing that he can do. I’m not sure why people don’t understand this and seem to think that X-Plane 12 will be a huge improvement. He literally cannot compete with the scenery of FS2020. Licensing Google or Bing map data and streaming it to players is not something that X-Plane will ever have the resources to do. There is a reason that X-Plane scenery is so expensive (and it’s not even as good as the default scenery in this game).
MSFS2020 is a new project, it’s going to take time for it to catch up to current day FSX and X-plane 11, but those Sims had a LONG time to get to where they are today, so please people, have some patience, it’s going to take a lot of time and work for this sim to truly start shining, it already has the best possible foundation to become something amazing, just give it time to develop!
None of what Asobo promoted in videos is working as they claimed.
Weather - broke
Wind - broke
1000 points of aircraft physics, non existent
Fake shaky video of external view of craft and in cockpit is not real world physics just camera trick
Aircraft and autopilot and all kinds of ifr and inoperable features fo4 aircraft avionics.
Game crashes, has buffer memory problems that cause performance issues.
This game is only good for pretend flying around bing maps integration
Bridges - can’t fly under or close to them because you hit a solid brick invisible wall or wall you can see.
Cache for scenery broke
Multiplayer broke because everyone who purchased or hacked game is online.
They promised a lot, released to early because Microsoft forced them, you get broke game that was beta tested for couple of weeks and all the submitted issues were ignored or pretended to be fixed or claimed this is how it works intentionally.
At least xplane 11 works correctly as a simulator with some nice working aircraft included.
Asobo has a lot of work to get completed and all Microsoft wants is money.
Actually we were lied to..
They claimed all new game engine, yet everything is based off of old fsx files in the folder for msfs2020.
This is incorrect, old files remain are not used in the sim, same with FSX still had files from fs98-95, (it’s copyright processing). Procedural are from Asobo proprietary engine, full PBR, scenery\weather\terrain\water are all new format not compatible from previous to get used on the new engine or does not exist anymore. For 95% you can’t use anything from previous that will work on the new engine level, not the same format\code or does not exist anymore (weather\water\wave\ scenery\ground texture name etc..), there is even protected compressed format pack not editable. One of the reason there still no real FX smoke\contrail etc.. they are implementing a new FX system. 3rd party need to redo stuff and some need to wait the finished SDK, many things don’t works like FSX.
I am still flying X-Plane because of VR. As soon as VR is working on MSFS, I will uninstall X-Plane. There is no reason for me to keep it.
Yup. Sure, systems simulation is there, but so it is in fsx and p3d and you have A LOT more choice in p3d, add-on wise. I also think the X-plane flightmodel is vastly overrated. It doesn’t feel special or organic at all. Sure it beats Fsx, but not necessarily a tuned p3d aircraft with an external model (like A2A or Majestic) I seriously don’t see the big deal about Xplane and many fanboys act like it’s this insane simulation that smokes everything else, but reality is, that it just doesn’t, and actually has it’s very own issues in EVERY regard, even the flight model, especially with liners at high altitudes, P3D’s lookup tables actually work better there. I see Fs2020 handily make it obsolete once features are added, bugs are ironed out, flight model is adjusted and 3rd party market is flourishing. Does that matter? No it doesn’t, Xplane will always exist, but don’t give me that talk about this unbeatable sim, that btw still has a ton of issues/misses features looks absolutely horrid, has no dynamic airmass simulation, requires a ton of 3rd party content to even be flyable, has dreadful water, horrific/missing default airports, low quality default aircraft, terrible ground handling physics like Fsx, has no usable ATC and basically no weather that is even close to earning the “simulation” stamp of approval, weather being the most important thing or a close second. Xplane also can’t handle as many add-ons as P3D before crumbling completely. In more ways than not, Xplane is a game/arcade than Msfs2020 and what people don’t realize, is that it’s not about the current state of the sim, it’s about resources and potential and that’s where Fs2020 is untouchable. Why this point matters will be clear in a few months.
Same as me. I was lucky enough to be in the alpha and once i was testing the sim i could not go back to Xplane 11 it just felt cold. Once MSFS was fully released and i purchased the premium deluxe Xplane 11 was sadly removed and i do not look back one bit.
Yes that true! But i hope that the Cummunity and 3th party guys can made it great! When i remember the star of xplane11 and p3d, it was also good but not perfect. And i guess you can’t evaluate the basic aircraft of FS2020, cause of they also was ■■■■■ in xplane11. We have to wait!
I think you are being unfair to X plane, Austin Myers is a great guy and has done his best to bring a package that works. I have X plane, FSX and now MS2020 and I enjoy all of them. Each new simulation software are different! you need to spend time with each to understand the pluses and minuses before deciding whether it works for you. Asobo studios have still failed to implement stairs, airport buses for boarding/de-boarding and visible passengers to provide the added realism. If the passenger aircraft is allocated ramp parking, do you just open the door and teleport the passengers in to the terminal? this is a glaring omission one which I hope Asobo will take note and provide a update to rectify this. I do not want to pay an addon developer for this very basic requirement for simulation realism whether Gate or Ramp parking! This should have been implemented as part of the ground services. finally MS2020 is a young product and it will take many months or even years to mature. happy flying and greeting to all.
No problem you need a rest day each week to keep the virtual FAA happy. so 2 days xplane, 2 days P3D and 2 days MSFS2020…of course you can fly one of the other sims on your day off.
Funny how you complain about missing passengers, yet completely dismiss the fact that you get airac cycles and nav data, weather, add-on scenery and beyond, that would cost hundreds of dollars if not thousands in add-on purchases and still mostly cant compete with base msfs2020, yet you get base Msfs2020 for the same price as vanilla P3D and Xplane, and let’s not forget live traffic powered by flightaware which is one of the most overlooked features. It brings life to the sim in ways never seen before, it’s incredible when you see other pilots around you, you feel like you’re part of something big and your presence in the sim matters, a feeling I never even remotely got in Xplane or P3D. They’re empty worlds, austin claiming otherwise doesn’t change that. That said I agree with you, Msfs2020 isn’t finished yet, far from, but that’s great! It means we have a lot of positive surprises to look forward to! Always also consider what you have, instead of what you don’t have, to keep it fair, the same goes for Xplane.
I think after some days spending time here with never end talks about compares, leave all pls this topic and come improve FS with your experience, possible bugs find. This goes to nothing, we simply expect to have this FS to be awesome.
I think many of underestimate just how resourceful Austin and his team are.
Orthos are not the be all and end all for scenery, its just one way to do it but has its own issues. Fields in Orthos for example are a fixed colour, a different system could adjust those colours using textures to match seasons. You get ugly lines too where orthos were taken at different times of the year. This is particularly true in the UK where joined textures are totally different in terms of brightness and contrast causing a really ugly line across the country. Clouds over some textures are another issue that isnt always addressed. Streaming orthos from Bing Maps gives a lot of ground cover quickly and easily but it isnt always pretty.
Does it surprise me that a lot have turned away from X-Plane and think FS is the best thing since sliced bread? Not really but I for one will never give up on any flight simulator that has potential and a team of people who are willing and able to keep working on it.
X-Plane is still the best simulator there is for Helis and airline IRF flights and its silky smooth too, offering a better rendition of the UK with ORBX TEGB in some areas than FS currently does. A case in point Barrow-In-Furness in Cumbria, its miles away from looking correct in FS, unrecognisable to be honest. The same goes for the National Park itself, its not looking the way it should in FS yet. Until these shortcomings are addressed X-Plane will be staying on my system.
Start loading add-ons and that smoothness disappears pretty quickly. I’d argue P3D is even better for airliners. I’ve spoken to real world pilots who think that BET in some scenarios is not as accurate as tables. I’d say it comes down to preference on this one. Where I think X-plane right now still is most accurate (after DCS, that does BET better than XPlane) is GA planes, until Msfs2020 refined the model that is. Btw, Orbx will have the whole lineup in Msfs2020 too, just a matter of time.
Did I respond to this total troll post yet?
I love how buddy guy OP provided No information to back up their claim.
For that alone, the post should have been pulled and repeated attempts to inflame people should have resulted in a ban.
Again, nothing in the original post to back up the statement. Just a snide “Nothing to worry about”.
We won’t forget you anytime soon when you have a point of view you want taken seriously.
You made that statement only to upset the people who are enjoying the sim.
In fact I think there is a certain amount of coordination that happens as well. Such as when others jump in with “XPlane is way more realistic..” - again with no supporting evidence or arguments.
I know both of these sims. Nothing about XPlane is better. Already. Not one thing. The sensation of flight is not better. The accuracy of the flight model is not better. The scenery is not better. The Ifr is not better. The Atc is not better. The sound is not better. Even the tutorials are not better.
Did we miss something?
Oh yes, the cockpits are also already comparable to XPlane for all craft and already look way better.
Black Entertainment Television?!
