That’s what I’m seeing too, that post wasn’t useful at all in that other thread…
BTW,
1st
Boeing 777-200ER for being £10.00 more but for me wondering why not the 777-300ER for £10.00 less?
2nd
Boeing 747 because it’s iconic and took £5.00 from me in liveries and has a basic livery that comes with the game that I can work with too in one of my fantasy airlines fun with the range like my 1st choice but like my first choice, doesn’t fit into my niche airports gates or ramps.
3rd
Embraer 170/175 for fitting in my niche airports I’ve based wacky ideas however it lacks the range, so it’s down here at third.
4h
That private jet Cessna thing because it’s fun and it fits but not as well as the Embraer, but the range is not there and I’m all about that non-stop range and fitting, but I can’t find an aeroplane to fit at KEUG/EGLC/EGNV/NTTB, etc that can also fly 8, 000 miles or more… I just cannot find that sweet spot of range and size.
5th
Velocity, I get to fly around on the ground and go sightseeing in this thing.
Great job! I think we all really appreciate the work you are putting into this. The results are interesting and for me personally, it tends to make me take a look at planes I had otherwise brushed off or forgotten about.
I do have another idea. It comes with the territory of being a programmer who works with a lot of data.
You could have an “up and coming planes” section or a “planes that are hot” section. You could compile this by looking only at the data from the last week or two. This would help show off planes that are so new they haven’t had time to gain traction on the overall list.
Yeah good idea! Will have a think how to manage it perhaps automating in some way but as I say it’s manual now and there is no reference to dates which I make changes (just using Numbers on my iPhone/Mac with the FAVS and PTS columns set as “Stepper”, so I can quickly notch the values up and down) - so maybe I just have to do it separately. Not much work though.
And no worries - it’s fun for me also
Glad people are on board and enjoying it as well as joining in!!
Years ago (pre internet) I worked in the radio business. We would all fight over the latest copy of Billboard to see what was on the “Hot 100.” There was also - of course - the “Top 40.”
Back then, if a first week entry (new, not seen before) debuted much above mid-chart in the “Hot 100” it typically had a “bullet” next to it.
Seems to me the Flysimware C414AW is in that category… and look out for the Wing42 Boeing 247D!
From reading the B247D thread and how much people are loving it I was a little surprised it isn’t already on the list. But then I guess the lucky users that have it are still busy trying to start the engines or put out fires and don’t have the time to hang out on here like the rest of us.
Yup. I don’t think these classic study level planes are as popular because they are harder to start. Even though flying them is a joy.
I think study level sim pilots are more passionate than most, but it is beginning to look like they don’t outnumber the more casual and/or modern airplane sim pilots.
Just a quick one. In order to do this more like a “chart” as in Top 40, it would involve grabbing the data from the last week only. This way you would see weekly new entries and so on. Would be pretty neat imho.
However, this would of course be relying on users to post a new top 5 list every week, which I guess is expecting a lot.
It’s on the main list in Pos 28, but only 3 people have listed it so far. Average score is 4.00 though so it’s looking very good, just needs more mentions.
Yea I will definitely do this once a week too, but you’re right it still relies on people actually giving a list (or updating their previous one) so not sure how it’ll pan out but we’ll see.
The thread is only less than 2 weeks old now so it may not be that different overall but over time I expect we will see more focus on newer releases this way.
