I love this thread, it is slowly becoming my defact-o location for deciding which aircraft to purchase next… Keep up the amazing work.   :+1: :+1: :+1: :flight_departure: :airplane: :flight_arrival:

Me too, but you should have added the Turbo II/IV in there too.

That’s a great point!

And… it would be more work me thinks…

This is (sort of) a hybrid list in that you can ā€œvoteā€ for new aircraft by updating your list.

Good idea to mesh all C172s into a single type.

I’ll try it this weekend and see how long it takes on top. Probably not too bad…

So that’s one vote for 172’s together and one for separate. Will wait a bit longer before deciding!

As my first list was categorized by type… i.e. Trainer, Twin, Airliner etc… here’s a new list categorized by the top 5 ā€œmost flownā€ -

Carenado C337H Skymaster
Flysimware C414AW Chancellor
SimWorks Studios Kodiak 100 Series II
Just Flight PA-28R Arrow III
PMDG DC-6B

Took this list directly from my logbook over the last thirty days. The two twin Cessnas have been getting the bulk of my time the past two weeks, with the C414 actually at the top this week. But… the Skymaster has more flying time in the last thirty days. That said, the only plane I flew in January was the Kodiak. Looking back to June and July this past year the logbook is solid DC-6B time… hours and hours and hours.

I have a feeling once I get to spend some serious time with the new Wing42 247D Boeing it may go the same way the DC-6 did at first: hours and hours of time in the left seat!

@Baracus250 - Great thread… thanks! :slight_smile:

1 - Flysimware Cessna 414A: Absolutely gorgeous aircraft inside and out. An absolute pleasure to fly!
2 - PMDG DC-6: Amazing inside and out. There’s just something magical about that big old girl that I just can’t resist.
3 - Aerosoft Twin Otter: Beautifully modelled. Floats or wheels you can put that thing anywhere.
4 - SWS Kodiak 100: Fantastically modelled. Great for exploring remote areas and making your own runways.
5 - Black Box Sim BN 2 Islander: Well modelled and true to life. Great for slower paced flights when you just want to take it all in with the added benefit of being able to hit every remote strip you find.

So is this to replace your first list or want me to add it in addition?

(My pleasure for the thread, thank you for contributing!).

It replaces, as the first wasn’t in ā€œproperā€ order… lol!

Black Box BN-2 Islander: Lovely plane, great for short hops and STOL operations. Has amazing sounds and it’s been improved by the devs (that are always active in these forums). My favorite so far and favorite twin.

Just Flight Arrows: Great for GA flying. Excellent attention to detail.

Milviz PC-6: Great little thing, very well made and fun to fly.

C152 (mod): also great for GA flying. Free.

JRF-6 Goose.

  1. Kodiak 100 - I’ve had it the longest of my ā€œaftermarketā€ planes
  2. FSW C414AW, that’s been a great little plane
  3. Discus 2C. Love gliding, love the free Discuss, can’t wait for the paid offering

(Edited to remove stock planes since this is in the 3rd party addons list - they were Caravan and 172 if anyone cares  )

Yay, finally someone with a glider in their Top 5!!

I think it’s more important to keep them separate, as they offer completely different experiences. People browse this thread for ideas on new planes to consider flying, and you’ll end up burying these great freeware options if you lump them in with the base Asobo model.
