I recall hearing Simbrief had added an option to create VOR based flight plans about 12 months back that includes frequencies. No idea how good it is though as I have never personally used it.

Simbrief has had vor routing for some time I think, I’ve been using it for the DC6 since I got it. LittleNavMap will show & let you plot to & from VORs too.

Hey. One or 2 questions.

…can you be more specific about that one please? There are so many “Cub’s” but the only Piper one I think is the Flight Replicas PA-11 Cub Special but that is not “default”. Or the Grasshopper? Which one do you mean? Maybe Zlin Savage Cub or CubCrafters (not Piper)?

Last time you confirmed this to mean the WB-Sim enhancement but now you are saying default with mods - which mod?

And for your (and mainly my future) info:

For this I removed the -700 and -900 as you had all 3 listed last time. You can’t have 3 in 1 slot so I used the -800 which you had in first position on your last list. OK?

Same list for me this month (just re-ordered the list by my flight hours):

  • Big Radials JRF-6B Goose
  • Wing42 247D
  • JustFlight BAe-146
  • PMDG 737-600
  • Flysimware Cessna 414A
  • Asobo/Aeroplane Heaven DC-3 (with Duckworks mod)
  • PMDG DC-6
  • GotFriends PZL-104 Wilga
  • FSReborn Sting S4
  • FlyingIron Spitfire

So, one more time with a repeat of my previous list:

My work life is starting to sort itself out so I intend to hop back into the cockpit soon. Should hopefully be able to finally provide an updated list soon ™.

Having old spare monitors has helped a lot. Navigraph and Simbrief in browser on the right, LNM and Pilot2ATC (and Neofly sometimes) on left. With all those combined you have all the chart, weather, frequency and visual track info you need. Plus PMS GTN750 toolbar version on centre screen, and the tablet for checklists.

Pilot Description: I prefer bush, STOL, GA, vintage and very light jets and that is reflected in the aircraft I have chosen.

Where I Fly: Anywhere in the world that looks amazing but mainly San Diego, Southern California (especially the desert), Idaho and the Northwest, Canada, Alaska and New Zealand.

TOP 10 for July, 2023

  1. A2A Comanche 250: I have joined the bandwagon and put the Comanche in spot #1 ousting my good friend the Kodiak from its long long first place.
  2. SWS Kodiak: glass cockpit, but the power and STOL capabilities make it my top (oops, second) favorite plane. Only the Comanche could dethrone it.
  3. Black Square Bonanza A36: one of my favorite planes, even when it was just glass. But Black Square makes incredible products, with so many things to do in the cockpit and so many old school navigation systems, the Bonanza blasts right up into 3rd.
  4. Black Square Analog King Air: when I want to fly fast GA, with all the analog bells and whistles.
  5. Black Square Baron: a tad slower than the King Air and a little more comfortable to fly, with all the analog bells and whistles that BS is now famous for.
  6. Milviz Beaver: the perfect bush plane, steam gauge, stable - what a beast. The Got Friends freeware mod brings makes it a top 10 plane.
  7. Got Gravel Savage Carbon: FREE! A wonderful mod of the Savage Cub, tons of power and climbing capabilities, XSTOL to be honest. I actually fly this more than any other plane.
  8. Asobo ATR 42/72-600: I’m not an airliner type of simmer, but this just fits the bill - commuter, turboprop, just the right amount of FMS to keep me interested without frustrating me. Lots of fun!
  9. WB-Sim 172: slow technique work. Just amazing! Get the Boris sound package too!
  10. SWS RV-14: pure joy, fast, aerobatic, also a good cruiser.

CHANGES:

Microsoft Beechcraft Model D18S Twin Beech out, A2A Comanche in.

HONORABLE MENTIONS (which could all easily make my Top 10):

Beechcraft Model D18S Twin Beech, Islander, Staggerwing, Sting S4, DC-3, BS Cessna 208, Vision Jet, Honda Jet, V35, Arrows, RV-10, Cessna 310R, WB-Sim/JPL 152, AN-2, Warrior, Wilga

This month I 'ave been mostly eating… taramasalata - I mean, been flying the WB/CPL C152. The best starter plane for me in Neofly 4, which I have been using a lot since the recent release, although the little Cessna is not a Fast Show.

Cessna 152 [WB-Sim / JPLogistics]

Here are the other nine all-time greats that I can recommend, but more importantly are my personal favourites (in no order, and not based on the Hobbs tool data as a couple of weeks ago I installed at new SSD and all that info got reset once again it seems).

Britten Norman BN2 Islander [BlackBox Simulation]
Airbus A320 Neo (A32NX) [Asobo / FlyByWire]
BAe 146 [Just Flight]
Antonov An-2 [Microsoft]
Piper PA-28R Arrow [Just Flight]
Cessna L19 Bird Dog [BlackBox Simulation]
Mooney M20R Ovation [Carenado]
P-38 Lightning [Flying Iron Simulations]
C-160 Transall [AzurPoly]

Two changes Legend

Swap Ants Tiger Moth for FBW A320NX & F35 for Fouger Magister

My love for my little CJ4 has led me back to the FBW again, having reversers, auto thrust & brakes is such a luxury. I still can’t believe these 2 planes are free.

The Magister is a work of art, feels like you’re flying a jet, all the buttons are in french, everything works, lighting and liveries are great. If you go high enough you could almost convince yourself you’re in a U2.

For a jet the performance can feel slow (250 knots cruise??), everywhere I look performance figures differ so I am on the verge of buying a POH. But Azurpoly definitely need to be commended for this one.

Havent got the Commanche as Im a rebel and I do the opposite to everyone else :stuck_out_tongue:
If it had been the Aerostar it would have been a day 1 purchase. I’m sure I’ll end up getting it at some point once a few updates have been rolled out.

  • FBW A320NX
  • FI Spitfire
  • CJ4 / working title mod
  • Fouger Magister
  • Kodiak
  • Analogue King Air
  • Asobo Zlin Cub with MGE mod
  • 310R
  • JF Turbo Arrow
  • BB Islander

Interesting the amount of love the Magister seems to get - I bought their TB-30 & was less than impressed, but I saw enough good reviews about the C-160 to take a gamble & it’s one of the 7 planes in my top 10 now. The Magister does seem like the sort of jet I’d like, hmm.

The JULY 2023 Charts Update is here

:globe_with_meridians: ==== ALL-TIME TOP 25 ==== :globe_with_meridians:

:bar_chart: ==== THIS MONTHS TOP 25 ==== :bar_chart:

:card_file_box: ==== COMPLETE CHARTS PDF PACK ==== :card_file_box:
Want to see more awesome aircraft?
You can download the entire Charts Pack as a PDF here. This file includes the main All-Time Chart and a page for every month listing all votes, so you can see aircraft that fall outside of the Top 25 above.
:link: Download the PDF here:

:speech_balloon: ====== MY SUMMARY ====== :speech_balloon:

Been a busy month on the admin for the charts for me with 67 posts to count, especially sent in the latter half of the month… thanks to all the 12 new posters!

Funny enough 67 is how many we had in February, with just January having more (83 - as it was a new system everyone piled in!).

As expected (?) a VERY good start for votes on the Comanche, jumping straight into top position for the month and already in Position 28 overall! Considering it’s had less than half the time in the month to get them that is pretty incredible I think. But the C414 and PMDG 737’s got a massive amount of hits this month too for some reason.

Biggest riser this month was the DoubleEnder by GotFriends (+66 positions! The largest increase I have seen so far). Bringing up the rear of the top 25 snapshot, the JF Fokker F28 creeps into view. Remember to grab the full PDF if you want to see everything.

All stable in the entire Top 12 of the all-time charts now but I feel there will be some movement there next month. However the gap between the C414 and Kodiak has increased where last month they ALMOST swapped.

Just 8 new aircraft mentioned this month:

Developer Aircraft
Microsoft / Aeroplane Heaven Boeing 307 Stratoliner
Just Flight Fokker F28 Fellowship
A2A Simulations Piper Comanche 250
VrilleAPlat Cessna T-37 Tweet
DC Designs F-4 Phantom
BlueMesh Caudron C.430 Rafale
iniBuilds Messerschmitt Bf 108 B Typhoon
Shrike Simulations MD-530F (Helicopter)

Last minute change for me. Decided to put the FlyInside Bell 206 JetRanger back in my 10. Was the Cowan Bell 206 in June, and I had put Airbus H125 in for this month but since getting some help from folks on the forum (thanks Jason!) to figure out my collective controls problem, I spent a good few hours this weekend using it again (and further tuning my curves a bit for cyclic) and it’s the best. It still regularly beats me up on landing, it is a beast… but it’s a good challenge and that is why I like helicopters. I can still use the others when I want a more leisurely sightseeing flight but this FlyInside certainly deserves it’s place in my list.

I have started to get to grips again though. The previous control problem I had (which I wasn’t even aware of until I looked closer… I just thought the FM was borked on my version) really messed it up but I am enjoying it again now. Managed to get some pretty soft and accurately placed landings (-23fpm was my best so far!) but it really still can get away from me in hover. I am determined to tame it though! Is a really nice feel of weight to it and normal flying at higher speed is perfect now. Also nice that you get engine failures.

Thanks again to everyone that voted, and a big warm welcome to the new contributors.

FINAL NOTE: The next Chart Update will be done on 3rd September as that is the nearest Sunday to the end of the month.
