Your Current TOP 10 Aircraft

ehhh, I never liked passengers anyways, they are just there to kill you with their whining and demands and get-there-itis, making you takeoff when you shouldn’t.

It’s not available on XBOX so I have no personal experience, but the developer has expressed frustrations about getting the flight model right in the most recent versions of MSFS. See this post above:

Not sure about tundra tired 747’s but here is a C130 with skis for you …

and a DC3 with skis …

They’re not skis! He’s just landed on a few boats

Had chance to take this up - it does feel nice with this yoke! It’s another one that the yoke animation barely moves though (weird).

I’d forgotten how fast this thing is. Has no problem going “a speed perfectly obscured by the cross-beam”, I mean, 210mph… without pushing it. If you take it to edge of redlines and over MP it, it gets up to like 240 on the flat! Luckily it’s Carenado* so you can’t actually blow it up!

That’s awesome to read your passion for it there

Does that one have engine failures or also not (*see above  )

I’m no mechanic but I’m pretty sure it doesn’t. I’ve pushed it pretty hard and nothing has happened. But then again I do pull back on the power just to lessen the noise sometimes.

That’s another thing I love about this sim. We buy add ons for their sound and the best speakers we can only to then turn down the prop or throttle (or put on virtual headphones!) just to get rid of the sound. Same way we buy the best HDR monitors and TVs just to get the super bright sun only to then buy add on planes with sun visors just to block that sun out. What an interesting bunch we are! I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I haven’t taken out the Staggerwing in a long time, so many great planes to fly now, nice “problem” to have eh @Baracus250. I’m on Xbox so I was patiently waiting.

But the Staggerwing was a cool plane to fly…I’ll have to revisit.

For Wilma you mean? I warned everyone to make the most of their waiting time by flying their other vehicles to death, as they wouldn’t see the light of day for some time after you feel your Willy!

For sure Wilma! Been flying her everyday now. My other planes will probably get jealous soon but they need to wait patiently. haha

February Edition:

February is a short month, just 2 or 3 weeks and it is done, weather is horrible in both hemispheres, too cold up there too hot down here and don’t think about enjoying your summer or winter activities, it will be stormy the moment you step out. It is also a prelude of March, the longest month in the year, it took 60+ days last year to end the torment.
So here we are with a new top-10 to be compiled, processed, maybe spit-on.

#1: Cessna Citation Longitude
Avionics, avionics, avionics, long range, fast, any route is realistic. This is a great plane. Wish there were even more liveries for it. If you want to realistically go A to B this works for almost any A or B.

#2: FBW A320NX
Great graphics, great sound, systems are slowly getting there. I can’t wait for the A380.

#3: FlightFX Vision Jet
Small plane but flies high and is very nice for short and medium routes. Nice to hand-fly. Great avionics.

#4: Flysimware C414
A “normal” GA twin, where normal means everything works as expected, a luxury in the sim community.

#5: JustFlight BAE 146
Quite an amazing plane in a very good simulation. Now where is that Avro? how can it take so long to release being so similar to the 146?

#6: Blacksquare Analog King Air
Mini airliner with all the bells and whistles.

#7: Aerosoft CRJ family.
Quite a complete package, the only downside are the small screens but that is the plane and not the model.

#8: Milviz C310.
Falls a little behind the C414 without any logic reason, this is also a great plane and very nice to fly, it really flies like a powerful twin.

#9: FS Reborn Sting S4.
Some people don’t even know this plane exists. It is a very nice “kit” plane in a very deep simulation, it even has wear and failures and you have to mantain it properly. If you want to “own” a plane in the sim this is quite a good idea.

#10: Carenado Cessna C337 Skymaster.
A Carenado plane in a top 10? What is this? Am I going insane? The 337 is actually very nicely modeled and now that I’ve seen Thranda’s version for XP I like this even more. A very nice plane to fly around and being a puller-pusher it is quite different to fly.

Falling from my top 10:

The Kodiak, because even if the plane is really nice I’m not convinced about the flight model.
The BN2 Islander, I think it needs an update but maybe I’m picky,

My small list of hidden “gems” that just didn’t make it to the top 10:

  • Velocity XL
  • T900
  • Rutan Long EZ
  • Bede5J
  • Carenado Beechcraft BE18 (is this better than the DC3?)

And my list of “I want cake now”:

  • The Antonov An-2, a very strange plane that I happen to know, pneumatic start, stall in case of engine failure, slats with rubber bands, a totally different thing.
  • The An225, first time I was really in shock when a plane was announced. Can’t wait.
  • The Aerosoft ATR42/72
  • The Caribou (is this still flying anywhere in these days?)
  • The FBW A380, such a complex plane if they are doing it 100% they will never end, the thing has too many systems, screens and configurations really hoping is not a never ending project.

And I want to try the Tiger Moth because it is getting mentioned a lot…

See you in March!

The beta FMs ( available if you ask, for PC anyway ) are vastly improved and apparently not far off being made fully public. I’ve no doubt there’ll be a resurgance in popularity after that.

I’ve asked. I didn’t get (twice)! I can wait. I am a patient person

Thank you for your Feb update!
Just wanted to check the Asobo A320, you do mean the FlyByWire, same as January, right?

What is this one?

If you are even half thinking about it - do it man! It will be the biggest “bargain” you can ever buy for this game! Should be double that price IMO. There are also some cool liveries for it on .to now.

T900 is my bad way of writing the TBM900
And yes, it is the FBW A320 of course. Edited! Thanks!

D’oh! :disappointed:  I thought you had a new and exciting plane you are keeping secret!!

Pratt and Whitney are developing a T900 turbine intended for upgrades to the current Blackhawks and Apaches.

Rolls Royce have the Trent 900 turbo fan for the A380 .

Not aware of any actual aircraft designated T900 .

I’ve been gone for a while. Was busy at work. Slowly getting back into the sim. My top 10.

  1. PMDG 737 600 - I hope to add the 800 soon too.
  2. Cessna 414
  3. Black Square Analog King Air
  4. Cirrus Vision Jet
  5. WT CJ4
  6. Discus Premium Glider
  7. Carenado Bonanza V-tail
  8. Carenado PC12
  9. Kodiak
  10. Cessna 310R - I just need to learn how to land this sucker.

Alright its been a hot second since I last posted:

1 - Flying Iron Spitfire Mk IXc
Since the last update, this is an entirely different aircraft. It flies amazingly, looks great. And with some practice, you can get this bird flying some excellent field pattern. NOT THE CLIPPED WINGS! Keep her under 250knots while below 10,000 and this makes for an excellent VFR (while in VR) plane! Even on VATSIM!!!
2 - PMDG 737-700/-800
PMDG has made some amazing aircraft in the 737 series. I find myself keep coming back to this plane, especially for 1.5-2 hour long flights around globe.
3 - FlightFX Vision Jet SF50
Tired of prop planes, but don’t want to fly the big jets? This is the solution… Although slower than its bigger brothers, this single engine (single pilot) jet is the perfect aircraft for flying out of smaller GA airports, yet having the speed to do cross country in shorter time than a Chancellor.
4 - FlySimWhere C414 Chancellor
Speaking of the Chancellor, FlySimWhere team have made an excellent model. This plane is #4 on my list because its the best “Twin” in the Sim!
5 - MilVis FG-1D Corsair
The ONLY reason this #5 and not #1 is because it hasn’t been updated in a while. The Corsair is probably my favorite all time aircraft (followed very closely by the Spitfire, and the Tomcat!). Either way, the current model is still pretty amazing, and flying this bird is still pretty incredible.

I add that I am not a pilot, my choices are completely subjective and based only on my personal experience in the sim and personal preference.
