Your Current TOP 10 Aircraft

Agreed, I also think the 414 has a big leg up in votes being on Xbox for quite a while. The 310 has some really killer features and I hope it picks up on the top 10 once the Xbox players have access to it for a while.

If you like the DC3, you will go crazy once you try out the PMDG DC6 they are planned to release soon for Xbox.
Its certainly one of my favourite planes and (altough its available) absolutly no GPS module in the cockpit for me. Just back to good old aviation days.

I’ve thought the same, I imagine availability has quite an influence generally on the charts.

I bought the 414 and very happy with it, will also get the 310 when I’ve got spare funds. If both had been out together on Xbox I think the 310 would (only just) have pipped it.

So comparing to your original list ā€œback in the dayā€ of March 2022, it’s just the C152 (JPL) dropped out and Vision Jet and the 737-700 in? You don’t want to keep the C152 still?

Cheers for the update

Assuming that is the Fox2 by Parallel 42? Not the BT Studio one lol

It must be a factor but not as huge as I would think / expect. When the Wilga (sorry to keep going on about it but it’s a good example for this point!) came to Xbox, it didn’t suddenly jump up.

I think most participants here are on PC (90%).

Will be interesting to see what effect this sudden batch of WASM based aircraft has though.

Maybe I should do a poll to get a rough idea

You’re probably right, I guess the 414/310 situation is unusual in that there were two very capable aircraft on sale in nearly the same segment (I’m ignoring the pressurisation aspect) with favourable reviews, but one released a lot earlier. I imagine the 310 will get a significant boost over the next few weeks, tempered though with the fact it’s a not at a bargain basement price of course.

I need to get boosting those Reward points for an Xbox gift card before I crumble and just buy it all with cash…

The Platform Poll

Just out of interest, would y’all mind answering this poll question?

What Platform do you play on?
  • PC only
  • Xbox only
  • PC and Xbox, but mainly PC
  • PC and Xbox, but mainly Xbox
  • PC and Xbox, almost equally

Apologies I totally forgot about that!

I would like to add the C152 in 7th place.

Updated my original post. Thank you so much!

Still a week left for March but I can already anticipate in my April ranking the Antonov An-2 will probably be #1. That is a hot entry in my rank.

It has been a while since I have posted an update but I figure that this is as good a time for me as ever.

  1. C414 - Still my favorite pair of work boots to put on.
  2. Mini 500 - I am a helicopter nut and this one is the most fun for me at the moment. It beats out the FI 206 and the Cowan MD 500 for me. I am very happy with what Got Friends was able to do with this one.
  3. C-22J - I just have a great time every time I fly this and I also love the challenge of not using GPS for navigation.
  4. Beech 18 with the Denarq mod. This is the type of radial engine management that I have been waiting for, combined with fantastic work on the flight model make this one a huge hit for me.
  5. Wilga - My favorite single. Cannot say enough good things about it.
  6. Kodiak - Still has that ā€œwow, this is goodā€ reaction from me despite the glass cockpit.
  7. Caribou - I find myself flying this quite a bit. I guess it is just fun.
  8. Discus 2c - Pure flying thrill.
  9. Got Friends Optica - I really enjoy the way this flies and the visibility is of course, awesome.
  10. Lake Skipper - I swear I am not trying to be a fanboy here but I would be lying if I said anything other than this machine has left me shouting with laughter as I skim across fields and jump tree lines in between stretches of water. This one takes me back to just doing nothing but having fun during sim time!

The necessary caveat here is that after the top spot, everything is really just dependent on the mood when I sit down to fly.

Old list:

  1. PMDG 737 600 - I hope to add the 800 soon too.
  2. Cessna 414
  3. Black Square Analog King Air
  4. Cirrus Vision Jet
  5. WT CJ4
  6. Discus Premium Glider
  7. Carenado Bonanza V-tail
  8. Carenado PC12
  9. Kodiak
  10. Cessna 310R

New list:

  1. PMDG 737 800 - I prefer the 800 over the 600. The 800 feels heavier, stops longer, takes longer to take off. I love it.
  2. Cessna 414 - Its brilliant. My favorite GA plane.
  3. Black Square Analog King Air - My favorite plane in the sim. I got about 140 hours on it and climbing fast. I fly this almost every day. This is my FSE credit grinding bird.
  4. Black Square Analog Bonanza - Great single engine model. Have not flown it nearly enough.
  5. Honda Jet - With the new auto throttle it kicked my Vision jet off the list.
  6. CJ4 - An old favorite that I cannot kick off the list.
  7. Discus Premium Glider - This is probably the most fun model for me in MSFS.
  8. Cessna 310R - I need to learn how to fly this thing. Its brilliant though.
  9. Carenado PC12 - patiently waiting for the SWS version.
  10. Black Square Analog Caravan - Kicked the Kodiak off the list for me simply because I prefer steam gauges.

Favourite plane in the sim but only third place?

Sorry dude, last minute change to my March vote.
My former March list
Flying Irons Spitfire
Fsadnis Hurricane (Freeware)
Bagolus Bush C172 (Freeware)
Asobo C-208 with the improvement Mod
Drifter A582
AH Chipmunk
Dave Garwoods Hawker Hunter (Freeware)
Blackbox Islander
Twin Otter
Asobo Diamond DA40

March list AL 1 is…
Flying Irons Spitfire
CJ Simulations Typhoon.
DC Designs Harrier GR9
Fsadnis Hurricane (Freeware)
Bagolus Bush C172 (Freeware)
Asobo C-208 with the improvement Mod
Drifter A582
AH Chipmunk
Dave Garwoods Hawker Hunter (Freeware)
Asobo Diamond DA-40

The top three are the only Aircraft I have flown this month,

CJ Typhoon flown for 79 minutes, DC GR9 Harrier flown for 70 minutes and still my baby, the Spitfire Mk IXc flown for 85 minutes.

The Teabag and Hoover are great fun to fly. The Defender (Islander) and Twotter had issues that annoyed me, I’ll give them a bash in SU12 to see if it has improved them.

My march list

  • Black square analog caravan 208 ( loved the Asobo EX version wich one I flew a lot during 2022, but the BS steam gauge version is just a big step up and a joy to fly vor to vor with all his gauge & needle acting realisticlty )

  • Black square B350 King air I wasn’t used to the default B350 wich l never really flew, but having this depth of detail is very engaging to learn a aircraft, very nice to fly, love the ability to do without the glass cockpit and flying only with some collins and kns80 ! and his texturing giving this feeling to be on the middle of a photography ) tried abit this month the default one, it s just so poor in stock version :S

  • c414 flysimware (very love all details modelled, and the overhaul work donen on it, maybe regret the texturing not being that high )

  • Blackbird DHC2 beaver (love his retro look <3 )

  • WB 172

  • FBW A320NX

  • C152 JPL

  • Bell 407 (again thanks to Asobo for this update bringing a new way to fly around scenery !)

  • Black Square Bonanza, very love his agility and allow quiet long flight with tip tank, and having those random faillure is a very good point asking to stay concentrate on everythings

  • Asobo Grumman Goose love his design, and use it when I want to just fly by hand

see you next month !

( I just removed the Twin otter wich I realised there is so many stuff wrong in, it has been replaced by the bonanza, and pilatus from asobo by WB172 enhancement)

I don’t order them in favorite to least favorite. Each one counts as one vote. As far as i understand.

My previous list:

Quite a lot has changed for the March list. I’m really only flying a handful of planes at the moment. Even fewer of these I will pretty much enjoy every time:

  • Ant’s Airplanes Tiger Moth - once again topping my list. So far 166 hours of pure, unadulterated joy, with no doubt many more hours to come. For me she checks all the boxes, but far and away the most outstanding feature is how nicely she flies. She just handles wonderfully through and through. I feel connected to this plane as if it was just an extension of my body - do you know the feeling of riding a bicycle that just absolutely fits you to the point where it’s hard to define where the body stops and where the body begins? The Tiger Moth is like that for me. And besides, the Moth just looks stunning!
  • Wilma - much praise has been heaped on this and for good reason. The second plane that I’ll enjoy any day of the week. Compared with the Moth she has more features, more complexity, and more STOL capability. She also comes in a number of variants. So there’s a lot that recommends her and I can recommend Wilma to anyone. Though I have to admit my heart still beats more for the Moth. Well, the heart does as the heart does.
  • Mini-500 - for my occasional rotary fix. I’ll need to take it up again soon as it’s been temporarily parked in the hangar for a month. Actually, I think I’ll do that right after finishing this post. I found it quite easy to handle for a helicopter. Learning to keep it steady and put it down exactly where you want is of course a different story, but I feel cautiously confident about my current skill level (read: I don’t crash it and will eventually put it down whereI want, but not exactly elegantly…)
  • Farman F60 Goliath - my clear favourite of the First Golden Age airplanes. Quite tricky to master for taxiing, take off, and landing. Slow, not very powerful, not manoeuvrable at all. And awesome from start to finish!
  • Top Rudder 103 - out of the three barebones ultralights that I own (this, the Ant’s Drifter, and the VGP PowerSTOL) this is the one I have decided to keep in active rotation. All of them have their charm. What draws me to the 103 is the looks and size of the thing. If I had a pilot’s license this may well be the plane I’d want to own IRL.

Other planes that I like a lot but will only fly occasionally:

  • Big Radials JRF Goose - can go anywhere, handles nicely, has a nice engine sound especially at low RPM. Also the fastest of the planes I fly regularly and with decent range.
  • JPL Cessna 152 - amazing freeware aircraft that easily outclasses the majority of the payware airplanes I’ve bought. It helps that I have an affinity for this smaller, leaner Cessna as opposed to its more popular sibling, the 172. Yet another plane that I should actually be flying more than I do.
  • Nieuport 17 - open cockpit, nice wooden cockpit, good manoeuvrability, some quirky details. Very enjoyable! Doesn’t have the greatest sound unfortunately, which may be true to real life. To be quite honest, I haven’t a clue on how a rotary engine sounds in reality.
  • GotFriends Lake Skipper - very niche, but what a bundle of joy this is! Flying just above the waves, dipping the wingtips into the water whilst cackling like a madman, turning tight corners navigating through narrow channels. And totally free!
  • Just Flight Arrow III - for now this is only a legacy placing. I haven’t flown it for quite a while and am getting a bit frustrated about how slow the updates have become, especially compared with how amazing the experience was in the beginning. But Just Flight have earned my loyalty with the first good addon plane for MSFS, and I’m holding out for the update that hopefully finally will arrive next week. If it does then maybe the old Arrow shall fly again!

Summary for B.A:
Out: Brown B-2, BR P-40B, Junkers F13, Blackbird PC-6, Blackbird DHC-2
In: Mini-500, Big Radials JRF Goose, Nieuport 17, Lake Skipper, JF Arrow III

I’ll let Baracus250 answer that one.

Correct, order doesn’t matter for ā€œscoringā€ now at all. So if anything it’s just to highlight your ultimate favourites to readers. Only that
