No chages here in June.

PMDG 737-800

Itās been a while since I submitted a list. Was busy and didnāt fly as much.
It keeps getting harder. I made a list of planes to consider for the list and came up with 30. About 20 of them deserve recognition, but itās painful to see how many aircraft I bought and donāt fly very often!
This month:
- A2A Piper Comanche 250 - Best of the best of the best, sir!
- Aeroplane Heaven Cessna 140 - Not an in depth mod, but still my most flown plane.
- Got Friends PZL-104 Wilga 35/80 - Very fun. Need to learn its systems better.
- Just Friends Piper Turbo Arrow 3/4 - The turbo version makes it different enough than the Comanche, although the non-turbo Arrow has grown on me. These are one of the first mods I purchased and feel very familar whenever I get in one.
- Black Square Beechcraft Bonanza A36 - Iāve always like the Bonanza
- Just Friends Piper Warrior II - Always been fond of this one
- Flyboy Rans S6S Coyote II - Great flight model. Well done little plane.
- Antās Airplanes de Havilland Tiger Moth - Picked this up during a recent sale. Really enjoy it. It might start crawling up my list.
- Got Friends F4F-4 Wildcat - For when I feel the need for speed.
- BlackBird Cessna 310R - My twin engine. Someday Iām going to do a long distance trip with this thing.
A final reminder that it is UPDATE TIME tomorrow, so get your votes in if you have not already. Thanks!

I wasnāt going to change anything this month but just having done a nice group flight bush trip in the CAS J3 Cub, it HAS to go on the list and I canāt see it ever coming off. Itās is truly a special thing for the kind of planes that talk to me!
Removed the BS Velocity XL (already!) to make space for it.
I loved the Cub already before today, but this trip cemented it as one of the very best aircraft available IMO. The flight I just did had a lot of landings off-piste shall we say, places where you should not REALLY be landing, so the ground was not smooth but the ground handing of the Cub is really excellent, giving lots of control and feel over the terrain. It is challenging⦠very challenging, but with a good approach and inputs it does nothing weird. The way the physics dealt with these extreme situations totally lifted my already high opinion of the plane. Highly satisfying. You can hold it lightly on 1 wheel, while cross controlled slipping it in to help slow down - and feel the grip of that wheel holding you on the surface and not suddenly chucking you to the side as you might expect from other planes doing this! ā then turn it with the rudder to straighten up, set the other wheel down and you KNOW what is going on below you at all times. It is on a par with the Comanche in this area I feel. Lord knows how heās done it but it shows the MSFS engine is capable of these feats. Must admit I modified the brake force a little bit (and I might actually tweak it DOWN a bit now), but itās lost none of the character by doing so.
What I love about its flight characteristics is that even though you are going slow (70 ish is really where it wants to be at a push unless you are going down hill), it still demands constant attention much like a helicopter. You have to keep hold of it always, and you need to look at the terrain and really have good situational awareness especially with regard to wind as it can have a big effect on your track. All of the little touches the developer has put in are lovely, lots of care and attention⦠and the fact they are in the process of making it BETTER is exciting too! Bush wheels, and Float version coming soon. Seriously folks this thing is one of the best value products Iāve bought. It should cost more!
Towards the end of the trip, the winds (gusting heavily) made the landings somewhat more ridiculous but there is a point at which I really think this kind of plane should not be taken up, when the wind is 35% of the max speed of the aircraft itself, that is probably a sign to stay in the clubhouse!
EDIT:
LOL⦠I just went in to do this and seems an update I did via Contrail had reverted it back to the original value, so on the flight I just did I WAS with the original āno brakesā but it felt fine this time⦠maybe itās just a case of practice then! I wonāt change it again now and see how I get on!
- Marwan Garibs Hjet - I really like the automation. It feels like the Wizard of Oz is controlling the plane, while I just fly it and enjoy Emerald City.
- FSReborn FSR500 - I love how it looks, sounds and flies.
- captmatto Bonanza G36 Improvement Mod - Old faithful. I use it to test my sim after any system changes.
- Flyndive Smaug - Wilga on steroids. How can you not love a freeware bush plane that can hit 215 kts and land at 40 kts?
- Got Friends Wilga - Thereās just something special about her.
- GotGravel Vertigo - The sense of speed and power.
- OV-10 Bronco - Just an awesome example of modeling. So fun to fly.
- Flying Fries XF-11 - A really cool airplane, modeled well. Iām glad I own it.
- Black Square Duke Turbine - Gorgeous aircraft.
My 1st helicopter goes in the 10 spot. I had to take one plane off the list, and this month the Optica gets the axe. Itās a great little sightseer, so it was a tough call. But hey, thatās a heloās strength, right?
I finally got my collective/cyclic controls installed and configured. Iāve been mapping everything in SPAD (this oneās been pretty easy) and will take it up soon - maybe tomorrow morning.
- Asobo Guimbal Cabri G2. Iām excited to get started on my helicopter adventure.
No change for me for June.
Thought it was time to do another longer top ten list breakdown, because a number of aircraft have now emerged as all-time favourites that I will miss if they donāt carry over to MSFS 2024. Also good time to take stock I guess because itās the EOFY here in Australia⦠Out of the half dozen or so aircraft I bought recently, really only two have stood out and become hot favourites for the list: the Chinook and the Chancellor. Most of the planes on the list now work great with my XTouch through Axis & Ohs, although it took quite a bit of time to set some of these up (looking at you, C414).
-
Aircraft: BlackBox BN2 Islander
Category: Go-anywhere casual flyer.
Variant/livery: My custom VH-CDS livery. Colour scheme based on the Norving pax variant, which gives me a nice generic 70s blue stripes paint scheme. But with a different panel colour and seats, and in the cockpit is a picture of my dog. The copilot in the second row (because BBSā¦) is a border collie from Got Friends avatars. Also using the PMS GTN 750 in its toolbar form to sync with the inbuilt GPS and autopilot.
Where and how: Anywhere and everywhere. If I just want to get in quickly, go through the procedures which I know by heart, take off and have an enjoyable flight with an aircraft that I can also land just about anywhere. Sometimes I do more real world based flights in Scotland, the Caribbean or NZ with the appropriate liveries. -
Aircraft: Just Flight Bae146
Category: Regional jetliner.
Variant/livery: -200 passenger version with the nice included liveries for Qantas, Ansett New Zealand and British Airways.
Where and how: Mostly between all the airports in New Zealand, including those by NZA, Flightbeam and Xwind, the ones from the World Update, and the ones that I got off Flightsim.to by CoolGuns that are excellent for free. And also in Australia, up and down the East Coast or between Kalgoorlie and Perth. But this will soon be taken over by the Just Flight Fokker 100. -
Aircraft: A2A Piper Comanche
Category: Realistic single-prop GA flying.
Variant/livery: A nice 70s paint scheme with a pale leather interior from flightsim.to that also has a custom rego so I can use G-CDSO.
Where and how: In between all the small and slightly larger airfields in the south of England, mainly by Burning Blue Design. -
Aircraft: Fenix A320
Category: Passenger tubeliner.
Variant/livery: The Eurowings, Air NZ and Qantaslink ones supplied by Fenix.
Where and how: Between the bigger airports in Australia and New Zealand, and all over Europe. With GSX integration and seated passengers of course! -
Aircraft: FSW C4141AW Chancellor
Category: Fast, pressurised, ILS-capable prop twin biz aircraft.
Variant/livery: The nice Swiss-registered one that is now included with the package and has the GTN 750.
Where and how: Across and all around the Alps, in Switzerland, Italy, southern Germany, France, Austria and Slovenia. Mostly the airports that were included in various World Updates. Instrument flying and a pressurised cabin are good here. With the IFR equipment, itās also feasible to do flights at night in the US (normally I donāt go there in real time because it is always dark with the timezone I am in), and I did a lovely trip from the free Catalina over a brightly lit LA into an even brighter Las Vegas with the latest CU. -
Aircraft: Ini A300-600
Category: Freighter.
Variant/livery: The 600R cargo variant in DHL colours.
Where and how: From the hub at Leipzig-Halle to about two dozen destinations in the DHL network, such as Porto, Midlands, Brussels, Tallin, Cologne, Gothenburg, Vitoria, Gdansk or Marseille. -
Aircraft: Azurpoly C160 Transall
Category: Military turboprop transport.
Variant/livery: Old-style Luftwaffe, and Australian civil firefighter version from Flightsim.to.
Where and how: Similar to the Islander, anywhere I want to really (just longer runways/stripsā¦). -
Aircraft: Miltech CH47 Chinook
Category: Helicopter.
Variant/livery: As for the Transall, Australian firefighting, and (fictitious) Luftwaffe. Also a Scottish wind farm maintenance livery from Flightsim.to for trips out to Aerosoftās North Sea industry from the new FlyTampa Humberside.
Where and how: The above, and there is a great Buckeburg German airbase scenery on Flightsim.to that is tailored to helicopters ā recommended.
And thatās all the must-haves, really. Apart from these eight, I canāt really pick two favourites from among the GF Wildcat, BBS Bird Dog, AP Bronco, ATsim An-2, FI Lightning or GF NXcub. All great planes that I will get into occasionally and fly just for fun without the need for much planning or looking at procedures. My predictions for an eventual permanent numbers nine and ten are the JF Fokker 100, and quite possibly the PMDG B777 (but the latter will have to wait until it is a Christmas present to myself given its price ā and that will be good timing because I will have time to actually do seven-hour flights during the summer holidays).
no change here
This post was fun to read. It inspired me to take the Mooney out for the first time in years. I put together a rudimentary profile for it in SPAD and off I went. Couldnāt maintain 100kt cruise for the life of me. Thought this thing was supposed to be fast?
Turns out I accidentally triggered the speedbrake with a controller bind when I was tweaking the profile and it took me almost to my final approach fix before i realized I did the entire flight with my spoilers out
Now Iāll have to try again proper!
I donāt think Iāve posted this month. I got into fast jets and trainers. And Iām picking up gliders again. (Canāt get much further apart than that :))
