Your Current TOP 10 Aircraft

I had an email from Just Flight earlier, they have updated the FS2020 Hawk T1A to ver 2.0, when I logged in to get it, they also gave me FS2024 ver 2. What a top developer..

I just stumbled over this Topic and would also like to contribute my top 10.
I am not really into airliner therefore you will not find one on my list.
If I could split between Heli and Airplan the list might look a bit different, especially going forward. When the upper modes for the H225 will be implemented.

  1. BlackSquare Duke (Piston/Grand):
I love the flight model and all its System depth
  2. BlackSquare TBM850:
Only second to the Duke because of single engine, I just love to see props on the wings just more than in front of me
  3. Flysimware’s Cessna 414AW Chancellor:
Great flight model in my mind
  4. BlackSquare Duke (Turbine):
Just flying it less than the other ones.
  5. Blackbird Cessna 310R:
Awesome plane, just the movements on my Motion System are on the heavy side, therefore it is below the others
  6. HypePerformanceGroup H160:
You can reject the gear, do I need to say more, just try it on a Motion platform xD. Flying in FS2020 is more stable on the motion platform since FS2024 does some wired shaking
  7. HypePerformanceGroup H145:
I like the flight model and there are a ton of mods including missions, love to fly Rescue operations with it. (FS2020) Flying in FS2020 is more stable on the motion platform since FS2024 does some wired shaking
  8. SimWorks Studios Kodiak 100:
    Bushtrips, Bushtrips, Bushtrips
  9. Cerenado Pilatus PC-12:
Most fun to fly in FS2024 as a default airplane, at least in my mind and my goto for Career mode.
  10. JustFlight Hawk T1:
Recently bought, somehow fun to fly, not sure if it will remain on my list. will see!

BTW Thanks for putting this together. Will be a source of inspiration going forward to test new planes.

Just curious, Baracus250. Any relationship at all to that guy named ā€œJobā€?
I have absolutely no idea how you keep this thread going with such accuracy and attention to detail. There are very few today in your league who would even consider doing this without significant monetization.
Great job, no pun intended, and a sincere much obliged!

hahaha. Yeah unfortunately I do also have to work. But now you have me thinking how I can turn this into a Subscription model  :stuck_out_tongue:

My current top ten as at Feb 7th 2025. All are MSFS2020 versions. At this point I think I’ll get 2024 when Flying Iron release their updated Spitfire for it. I’ve started on my Authentikit journey and would miss the Mk.IX.

  1. Spitfire Mk.IXc by Flying Iron
  2. Ant’s Tiger Moth
  3. Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat by Got Friends
  4. F6F-5 Hellcat by Flying Iron
  5. P-38L Lightning by Flying Iron
  6. Beechcraft Model 18 from Microsoft
  7. Cessna 310R by Blackbird
  8. Aviat Husky A-1C from Asobo
  9. PZL-108 Wilga 35/80 Series STOL by Got Friends
  10. Revolution Mini 500 Helicopter by Got Friends

PS. I’m using a Quest 3 via Virtual Desktop and have updated to DLSS 4. I’m getting very smooth performance in MSFS2020 and it looks fantastic. Check out Mark’s guides to it at Simhanger Flight Simulations on YT if you haven’t updated to it already.

It’s not the same dev anymore. Once FlightFX handed over the code to Asobo it branched and became a new dev and aircraft.

I completely switched to MSFS 2024 as I personaly have great moments flying only free flights for now.
My personal keys to have a positive experience with the game is to not bother at all with the carreer unfortunately. I’ll wait for third party to join at least.

Anyway I apparently have 103 of flying hours on the game so my current TOP 7 for the past 100 hours are :

1# Black Square - Piston Grand Duke.

Beautiful cockpit, awesome system and engines, top of the art sounds, good flight model (to me) and an overall interesting plane to play with. It really feels alive aswell in all flying phases so I’m really fond of this add-on. The integrated tablets did teach me few things on planes.

2# A2A - Comanche

Top of the art flight model and top of the art engines, Awesome sounds with ~good graphics. All flights are their own experiences however it’s not the plane format I fly the most so I objectively put it 2nd. I love the tablet aswel, particularly the instinctive Tow feature and the system displays.

3# BlackSquare - TBM 850

Awesome plane and ton of fun, it really can do everything and it will do it FAST.
It’s a really great plane to fly on cold/cloudy day as it keeps you busy with the really good icing / inlet separator systems. Bonus for the 850 switch that feels like playing a need for speed game when you finaly pierce the clouds. Clearly one of the most fun plane of my list.

However It is not easy to install in MSFS 2024 and the sounds of the top 2 is so superiors I feel like I cannot really put it higher on the list.

4# Cows - DA42

Feel like they are getting more and more popular with their recent release and they deserve it.
It’s not the most complete add-on of my list but the DA42 feels great in everything it is trying to achieve, I don’t know what they could really improve on it right now. It really feels alive which wasn’t easy with a G1000s + automated engine system. Sounds are incredible.

5# Fenix - A320

Disclaimer : I’m not in an airline phase right now ahah.
Objectively one of the greatest airliner add-on in any sim. I just play it less at the moment.

6# Simwork - Kodiak 100

I’m unfortunately very disapointed with the recent update of the Kodiak 100. What a let down and missed opportunety to update the plane to more modern standard.

I love the plane IRL but I feel like simwork is not doing enough compared to the others developpers on the list. It still an awesome plane to play with, even more so in MSFS 2024; flying to random isolated airstrips in africa feels incredible.
Hope they manage to exceed my low expectations with their Kodiak 900 as this plane is so great for MSFS.

7# Gotfriend - Norden

Wow this plane feels good !
My only small complain is I personnaly think the rotor wash is a little overdone on ground when the tail wheel rises. For a ~semi-free plane it’s exceptionnaly good. I like Gotfriend planes a lot and I really would love to see them going 200% on one add-on to really produce something incredible in flysim now as they clearly have the talents in their house.

Thats all the plane I regularly play. Thanks again for everyone who post on this threads as I love reading all those differents opinions, it gives me a lot of ideas.

See you in 100 (gameplay) hours ! Could be in 2 weeks if a new epidemy break through but I hope for my social life It won’t be before at least few months.
I’m so excited for the black square and A2a incoming releases / upgrade.

Ever given any thought to perhaps starting a TOP XX Airfields thread?
I think you are eminently qualified, should you ever decide to venture there.
It might prove to be just as interesting and perhaps even more revealing about the demographics of your followers. Just a theory…
But I for one would definitely participate!

Edit:
Whoops!
Please disregard. I just noticed that you did just that back in Sept. 2022.
I’ll have to visit it in more depth!

I don’t even know where my last list was. This time of year I’m almost backwards, where I fly limited time vs summer months(I have a lot of hands-on hobbies for shut-in months). So I’m pretty much set up a nice GA experience and fly it without fussing, so only 2020 for me.

Forgot my last list but currently, my just plain GREAT every time list(probably hasn’t changed much). Been a ā€˜mild side’ kick lately so haven’t used much of my hyper STOL’s or jets..

All 2020, don’t have a chance of hope for spending time on 24 until at least June, maybe?

-SWS Kodiak
-JF Pipers Warrior/Arrows(is that 1, 2, or 3 choices?)
-A2A Comanche
-SWS C414
-Milviz C310
-Carenado 182RG(My go-to really short on time-just fly! GA)
-CAS Cub
-Asobo Husky
-FSR FSR500
-GF Wildcat (I always have some rough grumbling plane I fall in favor for be it the Wilga, Beaver, STA, etc. It’s been all Wildcat for the past couple months).

I actually forgot to vote in January, sorry for that! Joined the MSFS2024 beta, and the experience has been mostly positive. Unfortunately there is not much news about default plane bugfixes. Anyway, as I will go on vacation next weekend, here is my current list:

  1. Cowansim R22 (solid little thing)
  2. Carenado R66 (wish they would get rid of the hilarious dust effects)
  3. HPG H225 (hope this one will be updated soon, unfortunately it is very quiet on the HPG discord)
  4. GotFriends Zlin Norden (all I need in a bush plane)
  5. FSReborn FSR500 (fantastic for longer flights)
  6. SWS Vans RV-8 (a GA prop that feels like a fighter plane, with analog and digital panel options that are both really nicely done)
  7. SWS Kodiak 100 (had not flown this one for years, currently on a re-discovery in MSFS2024)
  8. Classics Hangar Klemm L25 (German classic, one of them is on display at my local science museum, very nicely done by the dev)
  9. COWS DA40 XLS (my new favorite plane, I think I will try to stick with this one for the coming weeks, really learning the details and getting proficient)
  10. //42 Juice Goose (just got the new MSFS2024 version and it is actually really fun to drive)

Actually historically this counted as one vote, simply because it was practically impossible for me to get the exact model info from people for years. It is still this way but perhaps I should change it seeing as we have split out the 737’s/777’s/Dukes etc. I am nervous to do that though!

First mention of this buggy! Good choice

Fully switched over to fs2024, the only reason to go back to fs2020 is to fly the fs studios ERJ 170 because there’s not a lot of selection for regional jetliners yet

  1. Fokker f27 freeware great airliner with great detail

  2. Cessna 408 been having tons of fun with all of it’s variants

  3. Beechcraft g36 I am actually loving this little GA

  4. default Airbus h125 been enjoying this helicopter way too much

  5. powered parachute is fun to explore with

  6. Inibuilds a321 Neo is my favorite airliner to fly with because my PMDG 737 800 isn’t compatible yet in fs2024 marketplace

  7. m24 Orion I have been enjoying flying something different

  8. Saab 340b been enjoying this regional aircraft with how easy it is to fly

  9. SkySim DC9) I have been having lots of fun with this airliner

  10. Asobo ATR 72 I have been messing around with the atr 72 and it’s been a lot of fun

I think I will do a sort of placeholder list this month (that won’t be far off an actual all-time faves selection though). Reason being that after having used the simulator A LOT during the long summer break, I decided early in February to wait for the SU1 and Marketplace releases, and play something else in the meantime. So instead of flying my DHL A300-600F between EDDP and LGAV, I took cargo to Athens on the roads - see pic below. Now excited for the launch of the ini A350 of course, and planning routes for that (it has beaten the JF Fokker 70/100 to the punch in terms of budgeting and launch date). It will also be nice to have some planes back in 2024 as they become compatible and/or MP accessible. I did try out the 2024 Juice Goose after paying the princely upgrade sum of three bucks and change Australian, and it is great for checking out airports by driving from one end to the other and then getting out on foot.

Here is the February top ten:

BBS Islander
FSW C414
A2A Comanche
JF BAe146
Fenix A320
ini A300-600
MS/Asobo 2024 VisionJet
FI P-38 Lightning
Miltech Chinook
MND Nardi Riviera

No room alas for Piper Cub, Transall, A380, Bronco, Avro RJ, Wilga, Xcub or WB C152, but they all deserve a mention as well. The Cub missed out just because the Nardi is so fun in the water with MSFS2024.

This is my list. I am using MSFS2020 and MSFS2024:

  1. Vision Jet. Use it for my world tour in MSFS2020, Excellent plane, easy to fly and a great Youtube video about this plane: https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/lHTTId3IJwo

  2. Piaggio P180 Avanti. Maybe the fastest turboprop and can fly at 41,000 feet.

That are all the planes I am using at the moment. World tour (real-time) takes a lot of time.

I’ve no idea if or what you counted for me last month :face_with_peeking_eye: but I just want to vote for everything by Fenix.

In MSFS2024 that’s all I’m using. Everything else I tried had issues and I’m really not interested in dealing with any of that.

Thankfully DLSS 4 has been a saviour for me on this sim, it’s made DLSS Quality usable for airliners, which with framegen has made my 3060 usable in MSFS2024 where it was certainly not before. Given it’s impossible to buy a good graphics card at the moment this saved me from giving up on 2024.

With BATC traffic and now it has added a LLM for the ATC, flying airbus has never been so realistic.

I wondered whether the Great and Powerful Ozaracus would allow that one on my list.

I bought it a week ago, and it’s a blast! (as long as i stick to wilderness areas.)

I tried driving it around cities, and there are too many terrain problems, like falling through elevated roadways, running into invisible walls, and generally horrific PG objects viewed up close (boring generic buildings with PG turned off.) But those are sim problems. The model itself is really well done, and a bargain at $15.

This is what I am flying in Feb that can go on this list:

Avanti P180
777-300ER
777F
737-700
737-800
C414AW
35A Learjet
B60 Grand/Duke
B58/P analog
A36/TC analog

Flying some other stuff in 24 during SU1 beta, but none are Top 10 for me.

No big changes for me again this month. The only thing I’ve swapped out is the F-35 and replaced it with the updated Hawk T1, which was a previous regular for most of my lists. They might not be the fastest at providing updates for older aircraft, but JF still care enough about their customers and products to keep them going, it’s good to see (as do most of the really good devs).

In addition to my top 10, there’s about another 10 that get semi-regularly flown and could easily warrant being in there; Winjeel, DA42, DA50, Sting S4, Tiger Moth, FW190, P-38L, Rans S6, IFE F14 and some more I can’t remember.

I’ve been dipping in and out of various aircraft, just having fun reacquainting my self with them and seeing if any of my seldom used purchases interested me enough to warrant some more time, but nothing did really.

There’s not anything I’ve seen in 3rd party development that’s really exciting me at the moment in terms of civil aviation but I am interested in seeing the upcoming Sepecat Jaguar from Azurpoly. As much as I enjoy the IFE Tornado, I’m still curious to see what JF come up with for their GR1.

I’ve also noticed that Blackbird have put their T6 ADV back on the market. I was going to get this at release, but there seemed to be so many bugs I didn’t fancy shelling out quite a bit of money on something that would just frustrate. Anybody have any comments on what it’s like now?

No order to the list - all 2020
Just Flight - Vulcan
Just Flight - Hawk T1
Just Flight - PA38 Tomahawk
SWS - Kodiak
Flying Iron - Spitfire Mk IXc
A2A - PA24 Comanche
IFE - Tornado
BKSQ - Piston Duke
Got Friends - Wilga
Asobo - Cabri G2
