"Your game license cannot be authenticated" issue upon starting MSFS

I get this maybe 1 in 4 or 5 starts of the sim, and as the only button to press is “OK”, I press it, and things are then made “OK” and the sim starts…

I also get something similar with Forza Horizon 5 from time to time too - but that requires a pc restart to resolve (it doesn’t have an “OK” option of course  which is clearly the problem)

I suspect it is server end glitches or game services acting up, or xbox app not quite plugged in or something, but (as they say) if it’s not broken, don’t fix it, so when it becomes “OK” after pressing “OK”, I’m good

They keep saying to try it again, and again, and again… no changes. It’s a pity!

So something is ‘broke’ and I like to fix it…

same here in Germany

Well, zendesk sent be another list of items to try. Some of them the same as the ones they sent before but I went through them step by step and still no luck. The other thing I noticed is that I purchased the Vegas city/airport add-on awhile ago and it worked fine. Now when I fly in Vegas, everything is generic so it looks like it is not pulling in the Bing maps and also won’t let me use the city add-on I purchased.

Truly amazing that this is the support MS provides for this app.

Did you check to see if it was still showing installed?

Yes, I even deleted it out of my content library and reinstalled it. It’s there but I think my issues with getting Bing data (photowhateveritscalled) is making it so it wont pick up the add-on. Would be helpful if zendesk would just get on the phone with me. Or another option would be for them to credit back the purchase and then I go in an purchase the game again to see if maybe that would help.

When you are in the sim, and on the world globe screen, what does it say for servers (top right, click on your profile icon) ?

When I click that it shows “Automatic” in the server name field and a never ending spinning circle. It looks like it is trying to connect to a server but can’t. I assume due to the license authentication error. Crazy thing is, I can see purchases I have made, I have access to the marketplace, and can download updates, etc… My email account used on MS Store, XBOX, and in the game has always been the same.

Ok, turn on multiplayer from the General Settings, Data, menu, and then change the server from Automatic to a server that has nice high number.
Then save your settings

Everything is on. Multiplayer, Photogrammetry, bing data. When I click on my profile, it doesn’t give me any options to select any other server. Only shows “Automatic […]” with a spinning wheel. No other option.

That is quite odd.
The sim isn’t supposed to do that.
I don’t know what the Zendesk got you to try.
This is one thing that often works.

  1. Open the XBox app.
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Hit the Sign Out button.
  4. Shut down XBox app.
  5. Reboot PC
  6. Restart Xbox app.
  7. Then log in again.
  8. Launch the Microsoft Flight Simulator.

If that doesn’t work, try this

  1. Windows Settings
  2. Gaming
  3. Xbox Networking
  4. Check if the Nat Type says Open & if the Server Connectivity says Connected.

Well, they have had me try all of that except for checking xbox networking. When I when I went there, it shows I am connected but have Moderate NAT. Not sure if that could be it but trying to figure out how I change it to Open. I have a Spectrum router, UPnP is enabled but it is not allowing me to add any ports.

At this point it might be worth a shot to go get my own router and see if there is something in the Spectrum router than it blocking traffic or if I am able to open up the NAT.

There are quite a few returns when you google Spectrum Router block traffic!

Swapped out the router to a new ASUS router. I have open NAT now. Problem still exists. Unfortunately, the best that zendesk can offer is to keep recommending the same knowledge base articles that they have been suggesting for over a month now. I have followed every step in all of them and still no luck.

I may just ask Microsoft to refund me back my purchase and then maybe if I purchase the game again, it will work. Who knows at this point…

Here’s one to try.
Open your “Task Manager”
Go to the “Services” tab.
Scroll down to you see anything with Xbox.
If any say “Stopped” hit “Restart” or “Start”
See if that does anything.

I took a look and everything appears to be running.

Next up is Teredo and see if that is functioning properly. When I check gaming services, sometimes it will say “Teredo is unable to qualify”. When I click “Try again”, NAT goes to Open and I show connected. I’m wondering if there is something causing my Teredo Tunneling Adapter to not stay connected.

Looks like there are a lot of articles out there on it and I have confirmed it is running using the cmd line but I am not seeing it in the hardware list for my network adapter. Could be that Windows doesn’t display it anymore in the hardware list for the network adapter but still looking into it.

Once I figure this out, I hope it helps someone having the same issue.

today I have the same issue, due to an expected error my game licence can’t be authenticated.
If I type ok another warning appears. Do you have idea how I can fix the problem, please?

Did you read the posts in this thread?
There are lots there that offer advice on what to do.
If after trying those you still have issues, let us know!

Nobody spoke about error 0x80832003. Isn’t?
Anyway the issue seems now disappeared.
Bye
