"Your game license cannot be authenticated" issue upon starting MSFS

I will have to see if changing my multiplayer settings stops the server from spinning and connects. I swear my weather does not seem to be real-time but will check that again tomorrow.

I am able to get to marketplace and can download updates.

Still getting the error every time I launch the game. Zendesk has been absolutely no help. I get an update from them every 3 or 4 weeks to try something else that never works.

@XCAJUNX
Yes you seem to have a problem. Maybe if you turn on multi player and the server connects it will stay on it when you turn off the multi player. Check if you have live traffic labels too.

Yep, for me it looks like real-time weather still works but I am not getting any Bing map detail. Landsacpe and buildings are very generic now. All settings checked but no Bing. Also, I turned on multi-player. Still has a spinning server for me so not connecting and I don’t see anyone while flying around the more popular airports so this does not appear to be working either. Everything worked fine up until a couple months ago.

@XCAJUNX
Can you change servers in multiplayer mode? Turn off and on all live data functions so see if that changes things?

I tried it all. Went offline, back online. Multiplayer on/off. Turned the Bing data off, back on. Uninstalled the game, reinstalled (twice). Launched it standalone, from xbox live, from MS Store. Still no luck. Waiting for zendesk to decide when they want to respond to my ticket with more options to try. I’ll let everyone know if they come up with anything.

@XCAJUNX Did you install the google map mod in the past? If you did that might be the issue, it modifies a default windows file that no uninstall and reinstall of MSFS would ever fix.

Whenever this happens to me, I simply stopped the task in the task manager and launched the sim again. Usually it then started without the same error again.

Nope, I never have installed that mod for fear it would brick the game once MS decided they didn’t want the mod to work anymore.

I will give that a try. I know I have killed the app through the task manager before but not sure if I have ever tried to restart the game after. Thanks.

The last Time I had this Error, I was Offline in the XBox App for unknown Reasons. Going Online again and the Error was gone. I have the Marketplace Version of the SIM and had to install the XBox App for one of the previous Updates.

Sometimes I get this Warning and then I press OK and everything is OK. Why is that?

It’s been well reported. Best advice is that it doesn’t do anything, so just ignore it.

Assuming your licence is in order your wifi or internet dropped out at precisely the wrong moment … your first action should be to reset your router and check wifi and/or wired connections. If there is still problems it’s probably the net jammed up somewhere between you and the MSFS servers, this seems to be a common problem for some areas around update time.

I have the issue from time to time, got it again last night, none of the above were at issue, and no other action but ignore was required.
My flight went perfectly.

Well yeah it could also be just a glitch in the matrix … keep an eye out for black cats
