1.2.7.0 Sim Launch Loading Time Discussion

Loading time on MSFS 15 Minutes, not bothered.

Loading time on MSFS 2024 4 min, not bothered.

No CTD MSFS 2024 community folder filling up.

Still love MSFS Same for MSFS 2024.

My experience MSFS 2024 smoother better experience on my rig.
Fenix
BATC with FSTL
Cabby
Now have my co pilot with FS2CREW (Not animated yet)

I WILL now apoligies now for the positive experiance I have had with MSFS 2024. However not flown any stock aircraft or Career so cannot comment. I have only ever flown 3rd party aircraft like I did with MSFS.

I have Aviator edition for support.

Before the update: typically in the 3 min 15 sec range. Did have the occasional 2:30 launch on restart.

After the update: 1:35 to 1:55 consistently. Just did a quick test: 1 min 53. It does tend to be slower in the mornings and faster in the evenings here on the Canada West Coast when I believe load on the servers is light.

Loading takes a good while in my Series S, but to be honest the main difference I noticed is how long the loading progress stays at 14%, only to blaze through the rest quickly

AFTER FIRST patch 1:37 max and
AFTER LAST patch:

ta ta…:frowning: … loading language takes about 2:23 min. alone - there is a workaorund, but I´ll will wait for official statement !!

7950x3D, 4090RTX, 64GB Ram, all ssd´s, community folder disabled !

I agree that loading time shouldn’t be important and wouldn’t be if it was just one time per session. Unfortunately the current state of the sim, with multiple CTDs per session, waiting for each restart does get increasingly frustrating.

On that note, the majority of CTDs I’m experiencing are between flights while browsing through various menus. Very inconsistent though so nothing I could put in a bug report for now.

Back on topic. Since patch 3, loading sticks at 14% for 2 to 3 minutes so my loading time has more than doubled from just over 2 minutes to well over 5 minutes. Are you seeing a similar behaviour at 14%? Reading your latter post it would seem not.

I’m seeing it drastically slow once it hits that Activating Packages 14% point.

Does it speed up again after that? Mine stays on 14% for 2 to 3 minutes then slowly ticks up through to 17% and then goes back to normal. It’s about 5 ½ minutes now which is similar to my MSFS2020 load time.

At least starting flights is much quicker in MSFS2024.

Loading times on Xbox are about 2-3 times longer with the current patch.

Same. though I have had at least two crashes simply when trying to configure an aircraft (e.g, select a different livery or change from passenger to cargo variant).

It “picks up speed”, but in the way a turtle might pick up speed – not by very much.

Before patch nr. 3 I could light up a cigarette and sip 2cl of one of my 120+€ irish whiskys. Cigarette was smoked, whisky tumbler was empty and the sim has loaded.
After patch nr. 3 I light up a cigarette either and sip 2cl of one of my 120+€ irish whiskys. Cigarette is smoked, whisky tumbler is empty and the sim is still loading languages at 6%.
Something seems gone wrong in the last patch.
I checked my network-traffic (in the Mbit/s range) and I checked my CPU-Load (8 cores from 32 working at nearly 100%).

Have you activated any of the packages that had been deactivated after patch 3? I did activate maybe 5 - 10 of them and am wondering if that might be connected to the increased loading times. Maybe I can be bothered to compare the loading times with and without those packages being activated later.

I am not sure mine gained any speed since the patch, but it didn’t get dramatically slower… and now I have it opening all my Market content available (aircraft not scenery if there is any of that available).

Click start to Yellow Start Button = 3:37
Intel i7-10700k o/c’d to 5Ghz. 2 TB Western Digital Blue SSD and 32 GB of ram.

My MSFS2020 is 7 and a half min or so, but that’s with a lot of addons.

No. As I stated in my OP, I have been running a vanilla install consisting of 2024 Standard, Deluxe & Premium content only. None of my Aviator aircraft are enabled and I have an empty Community folder.

That is partially why I started the thread. With 2020, a vanilla install is massively faster to load than one chock full of add-ons. It seems odd that a vanilla install of 2024 should take 7:00+ to launch — especially when earlier versions did launch faster.

Maybe I will experiment with disabling the Deluxe and Premium content, WUs/CUs, etc., and seeing if it goes any faster.

Sim loading times are not really the issue for me comparing to 2020. But flightloading is taking much longer then before the patch…

I’ve really not noticed any detriment in loading times post patch. I’m wondering what some you have installed on your PCs for these loading times some are claiming.

What do you mean — installed sim content or other installed applications/utilities not a part of MSFS?

In my case, my computers don’t have much installed on them, at all, and as I’ve stated a few times I have an empty Community folder and only Standard, Deluxe and Premium content.

Again, the thread was started due to seeing a big change in load time with the patch on the 10th. Same computers, same content installation profile, longer load times.

What should we have installed - what does my installation have to do with ‘loading language’ of the MSFS - it loads whatever and where it loads what, especially before the patch it wasn’t and I didn’t change anything system-specific, just installed the update. Before that it was faster with the community folder filled accordingly - I emptied it and it makes no difference!
The fact is, they have changed something and that has caused MSFS to load more slowly. I can’t uninstall every single application on my PC now or search for the issue. Drivers are all up to date, BIOS too, Win Updaes too, reinstall MSFS 2024 done with clearing the caches etc. etc., clock sync,…
High end system with SSD´s and 150 Mbit …

Plenty as you well know. Having certain programs or addons on your PC, such as peripherals, can affect loading of the sim. Hence why we are often asked to remove such peripherals and addons when diagnosing problems such as this.

When I installed FS24 I did a complete reinstall of Windows, so a “fresh PC” so to speak. For the time being I have kept this purely as a FS24 PC where games are concerned. I have Office 365, Steam (for the game) , my Logitech Yoke, antivirus, the RJ100 from Just Flight and BeyondATC. That’s it.

I had oodles more stuff installed when I was using FS20.

My load times are significantly quicker than FS20 was.
