As were mine — until the 10th. It appears I’m not alone:
Between this issue and the CTDs I get when trying to save a control profile to default or save to all aircraft, I’m pondering deleting my cloud save and seeing if that is part of the issues I’m seeing. I’m not keen on resetting up my control profiles, but I’d rather do that than have these issues.
Just did a few more tests. Enabling/disabling packages doesn’t seem to make a difference, about +/- 5 to 10 seconds. During some starts the music plays while loading even though I disabled that, sometimes it doesn’t play at all while loading. Also the video that is played sometimes stutters more than on other starts. I think it stuttered less before patch 3 but that might be imagination. Overall my start times are about 30 - 45 seconds longer compared to pre patch 3.
I don’t have anything in the community folder, 64 GB rolling cache, no developer mode. Wonder if it makes sense to clean the StreamedPackages folder and the cache.
So my load times have increased by approximately 1 minute (from ~3:35 to ~4:30) after the most recent patch.
Conversely, yesterday afternoon I loaded into FS2020 with almost everything I own - aircraft, sceneries, liveries, utilities ….) all enabled. Dozens of separate items. From double-clicking the shortcut to sim main menu was 6:27. That is at least twice as quick as I’ve come to expect over time. In fact, in months past I would often get the daily Xbox points reward for “Playing a PC game for 15 minutes” during the load process!
Load times have been relatively stable for me since the last patch. I didnt measure but its pretty much always around the length of the opening credits.
For me, loading a flight used to go straight through the clouds onto the plane and sometimes i had a hickup there… now i am looking at the clouds for a minute and then it goes down to the plane and also stutters there. Loading the sim costed me a minute and now 3, so it is still faster then msfs2020 but slower then before the patch
Should I uninstall everything now and stop using the hardware? As you may have read above, it already worked with the same configuration - it’s the update, for whatever reason!
I’ve noticed that it’s the same people who complain about performance issues both pre and post update. That’s what makes me think the issue is at the consumer end, whether it’s the PC, additional software/hardware or internet speed. Otherwise we’d ALL have the same issues.
I have made no negative comment about the performance of 2024 until this thread and that comment has been strictly regarding a change in the sim’s loading time. In fact, I’m fairly certain I have praised its performance elsewhere, but I may be mistaken.
I see this change reflected on two different PCs. Worse on one more than the other. All that changed was the sim. I’ve reinstalled on both PCs with no change. Wiping my PCs seems like a rather drastic step to take to fix a change brought on by a patch to the simulator.
I’m not talking about you personally, but there are people here who have had big issues with the game both before and after the “big patch”.
Where awful stutters, for example, or extraordinary loading times are concerned, I am convinced it’s at the consumer end, not the game. My opinion only obviously, but it’s how it seems to me.
