.31 is running REALLY WELL for me, just like .27 and .29. No idea what happened in .30, but I’m glad they’ve undone it!! Stutters and CPU spikes are gone. Ship it! Performance-wise I’ll gladly take this as SU4.

Stutters on my machines, did not happen before the latest update. Also, ground details are popping in while flying. Very disappointed with this build (RTX4090,VR)

Apart from only a couple of small stutters flying around London city (night, live weather, PA28 Dakota), I found it very smooth, and definitely an improvement on .30 :slightly_smiling_face:

I had that happen once, on the first run after installing .30 but it hasn’t happened since.

Sorry that’s no help, I hope someone can offer a solution :folded_hands:

Best one yet!

Up to 1.6.31 performance was mostly improving but with this build, I have noticably more stutters and my old friend is back: The frame rate slows down whithin a minute or so until the sim completely freezes. So… I‘m not very happy with this build.

1.6.31.0 is by far the worst performing in VR for me. I did a clean reinstall of my graphics driver and cleared all caches and there no improvement. I can’t even maintain 37.5 fps with motion reprojection anymore unless I enable OpenXR Toolkit turbo mode PLUS Nvidia low latency in-sim. Even then I barely maintain a stuttery 37.5 fps. Lots of stuttery rubber-banding as I turn my head left and right. Completely unusable now. However several builds prior I was able to look around and everything was silky smooth. I have RTX 5090, 9800x3d and 64 GB RAM.

I have to turn Terrain LOD up to 400 now with 1.6.31.0 in order to eliminate aggressive photogrammetry pop-in at close range that I didn’t have several betas back with it on 200. But this introduces stuttering. If I turn the latest beta down to 10, the sim runs smoothly again with OpenXR Toolkit turbo turned off. But the scenery is rubbish.

I used to get 130 fps before entering VR. Then it dropped to 37.5 (which seems excessively low when activating VR) Now it runs at only 85-90 fps and drops to 25 FPS in VR rendering motion reprojection useless.

I think you should try the “less is more” approach. Disable OpenXR toolkit. Turn off Motion Reprojection, and anything else you have enabled in your VR headset. Treat the headset just like a basic monitor, no supersampling, no foveated rendering, etc. Just basic display.

Turn off any frame generation. Turn off Nvidia Reflex low latency. Turn off anything that impacts timing like fps limits, etc.

Restore defaults in the Nvidia control panel. You don’t need anything in there.

Turn off FidelityFX sharpening. A lot of folks leave this on because it’s at 100 in the defaults. However, it’s not required. Sharpness comes from increasing headset resolution in VR.

Most users turn their settings up too high. I have a 9950x and a 4080S, and I run Medium texture resolution with medium to low graphic settings. If I run my Valve Index at 100% native resolution, I can run Ultra Preset with DLAA. It’s totally smooth, but not as sharp as I want. I increase the resolution of my headset to get the sharpness I want, but that means lowering the other settings.

I personally turn off Game Bar, Game Mode, Hardware Accelerated Graphics, Windowed Mode Improvements, and Resizable Bar.

Is your BIOS up to date? A friend of mine eliminated all CTDs with a BIOS update almost a year ago.

Thx for your reply, and yes, the BIOS is updated.

I’m getting brilliant performance. The only stutters I’m getting is with Live Traffic on, but they are only slight stutters, which I can live with as I always have Live Traffic on.

It worked! I turned all that junk off and got a solid 45 fps in VR. But it’s too low for my tastes so I enabled Varjo motion smoothing. It would only run at 25 fps. (I’m using generic KFAR Fargo, ND to test) The only way to get 37.5 fps was to re-enable OpenXR Toolkit and turn on turbo mode plus enable low latency mode in global settings in the Nvidia App. I also need to have my power management set to maximum performance. With those settings I get a solid stutter free 37.5 fps all day long. My instrument panel no longer stutters and rubber bands while moving around. Amazing!

Best yet beta for my system (CPU 13900, 5090, PCL). Very minor loading pauses and sharp clear ground textures as good as FS20. Rain/ clouds have big FPS hit. Previous beta build experienced large stutters at landing, even at same departure airport. Seems to be fixed.

Did a few of my typical test GA flights in areas such as St Just, London city, amongst others in VR. Did the usual clearing of various caches etc. Overall I found things to run 5-8 FPS lower on average consistently than some of the recent previous builds, however I had markedly less stutters at multiple airports and nearly no stutters in normal flight compared to the last build.

9800X3D, 5090, 48gb ram, NVMe, Pimax Crystal Super 50ppd resolution 1.0, DLSS Quality

What is your average fps with that combo of hardware and settings?

Just loaded the sim in same location as last night. Major stutters everywhere, almost broke my motion platform. Couldn’t maintain 37.5fps. The screen twitching/jerking (like someone slapping you in the face every 2-3 seconds came back despite buying a gsync monitor. This is rubbish.

For countryside flight, about 50fps where previously closely to 60fps on a mixture of medium high settings and DFR .3

Over London, it tends to be around 32 or 34fps, where preciosuly 38-42 fps.

Performance seems limited by RdrThread, but adjusting terrain LOD (usually 200) and other graphics settings up or down doesnt seem to change much at all.
