In ASFS go to the conditions tab. At the lower left it will show the conditions for your location, either from the nearest weather station, or interpolated.
Was KBOS- live weather lots of clouds haha
Confirmed all of the settings are the same as yours? Whatâs strange is this time I started AS at the world map. The game was loading on the ground- period before clicking âready to flyâ I could see the clouds that were supposed to be rendered via AS for a moment. Then they all disappeared and I was left with the above screenshot? StrangeâŠ
Ok, so I uninstalled from C and onto the drive where MSFS is installed and that seems to have fixed my issue. One of the reasons I havenât tried to install AS or troubleshoot is because I was left wanting more when it came to their overcast depiction. It often looks good from the ground but when you get above the clouds I was constantly bothered by repetative patterns that were noticeably worse at night. MSFS has really improved their weather depiction IMO so Iâve been happy. Iâll be curious to see if AS has improved theirs? MS ans AS (last I tried) were and are still lacking in depicting conditions inside a cloud. P42 helped with this- but seeing that their addon does not work with fs24 (maybe never) this is still a big immersion killer. Thanks all for trying to problem solve this issue.

Been rolling wth HIFI Sim ever since FS 2004. Canât sim without em.
Happy Landings
Like I said before, I run in Passive Mode. Really canât run the sim without it these days. SU3.
Just got active sky with the black Friday discount for ÂŁ22, used it tonight really enhances the SIM.
Also bought rex atmos core for about ÂŁ11 again bf sale, with the two combined looked great together.
For ÂŁ33 itâs a great upgrade to the sim in 2024 and can still use active sky with 2020.
Hi
I picked ASFS up yesterday and initial impressions are, on the whole, very good indeed. I also picked up Atmos Core too and the two working together are so much more realistic than the default sim currently is. However, one thing I did notice this morning was that at EGJJ ASFS depicted the whole island as covered in snow (I presume snow and it wasnât meant to be frost) when in reality there is none. I donât believe itâs really snowed anywhere in the UK in the last week or so, so not sure where this is coming from. By the time I got to the coast of the mainland the snow was gone
I hadnât realised ASFS used Navigraph data so installed that after seeing this phenomenon but it hasnât made any difference. This is the webcam at EGJJ proving the lack of snowâŠ
This is the weather at EGJJ according to ASFS
This is ASFS in Live mode
and in Passive Mode
I have to say, apart from the cloud being a bit too much, passive mode matches the METAR much more closely than ASFSâs live control. The latter is depicting no fog at all for example
Is this something I have had set up incorrectly given the program is new to me? Cheers
As far as I know snow cover depends only on the temperature and not on actual snow covers. Active sky has an option to adjust the threshold temperature. I also wished they could access real snow data fir this.
Eek, surely not? So if the temp is 0 or below itâs just depicts snow?
The website claims this;
Ground Snow Simulation
Using actual global ground snow depth data, ground snow cover is controlled and smoothed at all times in AS Preset depiction mode.
That would suggest thereâs more to it but clearly it isnât/wasnât working at Jersey
Do you have the settings set for NOAA? Make sure you have Force DataNet turned off. DataNet does not have snow info.
where i find this? are the settings? in active sky?
thank you
you should have work in this team support! snow yes ! ![]()
Finally got chance to check this and in that instance above it was set to NOAA with force DataNet disabled. Something certainly wasnât right there.
Unfortunately Iâm seeing the same thing right now. ActiveSky has the whole of the UK north of the Yorkshire Dales covered in snow which is incorrect.
Passive mode with the correct surface depiction
Live weather mode in ActiveSky
ASFS uses Preset (global) weather control based on GFS snow depth data at a general resolution that takes time to update as you fly through regions. Based on your depiction/update/smoothing settings, you may be seeing the effects of this transitioning delay coupled with resolution limitations. My check of the snow depth data for the date of your post shows snow coverage over measurable areas of UK. Pockets of no snow coverage traversed at airliner speeds will not translate at fine resolution/regional differentiation so this is most likely what you are seeing.
It is recommended that you increase your update/smoothing rates if youâd like to see finer detail. You can also use the snow temperature threshold option to prevent snow coverage above a specified temperature.
Iâve just bought ASFS. Itâs very good, however, with the snow depiction⊠while I feel it is MOSTLY depicting snow in the correct areas, the depth is questionable.
For example, today at Geneva, the snow depth is minimal. There is ground snow, but itâs not the 12.70cm that is being forced by ASFS. Any help?
Ok so passive is better? How can I make the live weather and the weather to be accurate like snow and everything? Iâm trying to get real weather in my sim without default live weather. thank you!
