What is the benefit of keeping ifr active? Even with ifr active there is no guidance regatding prohibited areas. Got an prohibited penalty for some reason but i checked the whole route and i was safe.
Some of the little red circles are really tiny. Closer to destination airport i have notice a need to switch to heading mode becase NAV tracks the VOR or NDB, vortac at the airport and not your actual route, ie the pink line. So it may be that you inadvertently crossed one
there is none. in fact, it is a nett negative. I often cancel IFR immediately after takeoff (and get 100% airlines procedure score at the end – which just goes to show how bogus the whole system is).
What FL are you at in the pc12 and do you have to fly around all the airspaces? How do you get permission from atc to go through them
I don’t fly the pc-12 but clearance for crossing airspace you do by the atc menu. Select the airport controlling the airspace and request transition
Better to go IFR so you don’t have to do that
Yeah, I agree. I never fly VFR until the last miles. So, yeah, I admit I never fly VFR in Career A to B. So not sure How the person above never gets a ding after cancelling IFR so early..
I found out that you don’t even need to cancel IFR. After a handoff just switch the frequency but never contact the new center. That way they will leave you alone and you won’t get any penalties for misses ATC calls. As soon as you approach your destination contact the nearest center and proceed IFR.
Cancelling IFR caused some problems for me, especially when skipping parts of the flight
Doing it all the time that way… works great ![]()
After earning hundreds of millions of credits I can tell you that you can cancel IFR once you are handed over to departure after takeoff. The next time you need to contact anyone is 20 miles out before landing (tower). There is no penalty.
There is always a way to correct any problems once you cancel IFR after takeoff. For example, if you are 20 miles out of the arrival airport and you can’t get the frequency to tune in by hitting ENTER, then manually dial in the frequency for the arrival airport and use the COM Window to communicate to the tower. I never fly IFR from point to point anymore. I do the required task and get full credit. But I agree that you can just not tune into the next frequency is another way to fly without communicating.
Whats your experience with restricted areas, if ATC can’t “see” you, do you still get a ding.
2nd Question please, how high are you flying to be able to ignore ATC so well.
I do from time to time get hit with the restricted area penalty, but I’ve learned to look at the map for the blue outline (hard to see sometimes) and change my flight plans to either go around or stay above restricted altitude.
Is there not an planner that can help you with that. That will give you a warning when your altitude is not good to avoid these areas?
It feel wierd to check your route manually after planning to find these areas
Other than North Africa and the Middle East (which is a minefield) I never had this issue.
All other areas are rather save
Was three points away from finishing a flight until my Satiek pro throttle yoke connector cord decided to randomly read disconnected making my aircraft fall to the ground on a cargo run
only thing I can do is save up for a new throttle with a USB connection ![]()
Is it just me or are pay outs lower ?
Not been on in 2 weeks and 5 hour flight only payer 12m before I was getting 16 plus million even with bad weather
What is the fastest legitimate way of earning credit early in the career? I’m currently doing VIP charter missions in the Vision Jet which nets me roughly 250k per hour. However, there’s a long way to the PC 24, for example, with an asking price of 8-9 mio. Should I be doing medium cargo missions in the Caravan instead?
Not sure… in the past the way to go was medium cargo - and than passenger transport but the payments has changed now.
I am making a lot of credits atm doing vip and passenger transport. Occasionally medium carge. Can’t wait for heavy and super heavy transport will arrive
How much do you make per flight from VIP and passenger transport respectively?
Vip - average: 3,5 - 8 million for 3-4 hrs
Passenger - average: 15 - 20 million for 5-8 hrs
Medium cargo: 1 million 3 hrs
I don’t use the skip function but do use simrate on long haules ![]()
