Okay, understood, do not cause changes to any other regions, it’s just the Sierra Nevada which are assigned a bad biome mix. (And I’m glad you reverted from doing 100% conifers, that’s not right either.) Should look more like the Colorado Rockies do in the game. (With deciduous!)
EDIT: Oh wait, I just realized what you’re saying – yes, that’s the length and breadth of the Sierra Nevada region, I’m not talking about a specific small area like Tahoe. It’s that entire area that looks so strange for those of us familiar with it. (I’m assuming that the other world regions assigned to the same biome are correct.)
And yeah, I saw somebody else made a mod that does the biome reassignment but I went with the edit that someone suggested. But I do advise the change to others as it looks really screwy right now in the default MSFS and I’d like to get MS/Asobo to fix it. With this biome reassignment and your 4seasons mod, it doesn’t look so off at all but it would be cool if your pines get a more conifer/pine-shape to them.
Probably no need as I think it’s just the wrong biome to be assigned to and you don’t want to affect all the other regions in that biome. I forget which one they had it in, but you can look and see in your unmodified version.
In other words, I don’t think you want to mess with those percentages if you’re going to leave the Sierra Nevada in that biome. Those of us who love the Sierras will try to get MS/Asobo to reassign the Sierra Nevada. (I’m assuming that the other regions tagged to that biome with those percentages are correct, but I don’t know those areas.)
Plus those percentages may even be correct for the Sierras, it’s just that a percentage system doesn’t know how to distribute the different kinds of trees: like aspen being concentrated along creeks and lakes.
Oh yes, and many other parts of the Sierra (particularly the Eastern Sierra).
I was never saying it’s all conifer! But take a look at my shot several posts back of how MSFS was rendering it… almost entirely bushy deciduous, almost no pine trees. I was initially confused by why that was last year as the Colorado Rockies and other areas I was familiar with looked reasonable. When you put the Sierra Nevada in the same Cold Conifer biome as the Colorado Rockies, you get many more conifers – and of course the Colorado Rockies are known for their fall colors too!
@MajorAnxiety
I had to redo Sierra national forest anyway. I removed the previous giant redwoods and created couple of POI with multiple ecosystem with the new giant 3d trees.
I went to see Mount Roraima and was very disappointed with how bad the tepui looks in game Hopefully someone comes up with some good LIDAR DEM for South America. Someone just uploaded a 15m LIDAR DEM of Vancouver Island to Flightsim, but sadly not the rest of British Columbia. What still surprises me is no one has imported any Google photogrammetry of Vancouver into the game yet. That city really, really needs it because it doesn’t have it in game and is sorely lacking without it.
@bijanstudio How will you deal with updates once this is released on the Marketplace? Apparently MS’s contract now states that you may only release updates on other platforms once it’s also available in the Marketplace.
Dear @bijanstudio, great work on a great mod!
I am currently using the latest version of the Spring/Fall mod but the way trees as looking around Hamburg, Germany is a little strange. I have patches of extremely bright, pink and purple trees, and then patches of standard default green trees as it seems. The combination does not look realistic at all and the brightness of the colored trees even makes it very difficult to tell them apart from buildings etc. Do you have any recommendations here and is this expected behavior? Thanks
I just flew there and there was no issues.
I believe you are either using an older version OR you have the old version in the community folder as well.
Please remove and delete the season and download the latest version.
I just want to say thank you for this. I loaded something a week or two ago, and popped into the sim and saw the occassional crab apple tree in flowering/bloom, just like we have here now, it was very refreshing to see that!
@bijanstudio That doesn’t bode well at all because the Marketplace takes forever to update stuff while you’re able to add updates to SimMarket whenever necessary and when you’re able to. If the Marketplace has some sort of agreement like that, I wouldn’t do it. That seems like you’d be shooting yourself in the foot and you wouldn’t be able to add these updates as frequently as you do because the Marketplace version would be very behind and you’d have to wait to upload them to SimMarket until they’re added, whenever that is, to the Marketplace. It’s almost like Marketplace is treating it like they’re a first come first serve type of thing where you have to get the update from them first before it’s able to be posted elsewhere. I don’t like it at all.
Also, people would only be able to download one Season at a time as opposed to how you have it set up now, which is definitely not what people want. As you said the other day, they’re only going to have one Season up at a time as opposed to multiple seasons. The way they have it worded just makes it seem like the Marketplace is the worst way to go. Honestly, I’d just stick with SimMarket because they don’t have that kind of agreement. People have come to rely on your quick fixes and updates, and the Marketplace just won’t allow that because they take way too long to update stuff. So bugs and other odd glitches could be plaguing your mod weeks at a time while on SimMarket you get it fixed and uploaded pretty much right away, within the same day. SimMarket would be my preferred choice if that’s how Microsoft wants to play it, @bijanstudio.
I don’t think it is true that I can’t update elsewhere unless it’s updated on marketplace. I have asked that question days ago and have yet to hear back. I don’t see that info in the contract I have. But if it turns out to be like that, I won’t agree to that and just stick with Simmarket.
If that is Microsoft’s approach, it is only reasonable if they also commit to timely releases or allow exceptional updates elsewhere when they cannot meet a specified timescale, otherwise they are protecting their store business at the expense of the content originator’s.
Well, as @bijanstudio said, if Microsoft is doing that he’s just going to stick with SimMarket, which is what I would do as well. His mod would stagnate under Microsoft if he couldn’t update as frequently as he does or make patches as quickly as he does. As we’ve seen, major game companies are very slow when it comes to patching things as well, sometimes taking weeks or longer to fix something when @bijanstudio fixes them right away.
@bijanstudio But it should be no problem to update the 4 Season Pack more often because it’s not sold on the MS store, right? I mean these rules should only apply to the single season packages sold ingame. And you don’t sell these on SimMarket. Different packages - different rules.
