Yes, me too. I think I will be waiting though until mid June or July for a few gremlins to surface/get sorted with ram/motherboards/bios or even maybe with the 7800x3d cpu itself. Hopefully prices might have reduced a little bit by then as well (happy to buy the 7800x3d at rrp). A few more atx 3.0 PSUs might also be out by then too.
At least M.2 SSDs are great value atm and should stay that way, I think, for the next 6 months or so.
PC case already bought. Can’t wait either

All my parts in on the way, hardest was the CPU itself won’t arrive until the 24th but at least I can drool all over the other parts in the mean time.
Upgrading from 5800x going to do some testing to compare once the new builds done.
At least the temporary shortage of these chips has shown us something. Those stores that hike up the prices from the MSRP can now have a big red flag against them for any future purchases. Shame on them and I hope others see this too and boycott these short term thinking greed merchants. So glad to see my preferred store has maintained the same MSRP throughout.
All of them do that. At least a minimum over msrp when limited stock.
When the 7950x3D was released I got it at msrp (809€) just 2 days later it went to 919€. And it is a “respectable” store.
I didn’t see the 7800x3D on that store yet or in any other I usually buy from. In fact I saw it nowhere available for purchase at release day.
Nope. That’s my whole point. They don’t all hike the prices just because they can. The good ones stick to the MSRP until they sell out and then get more stock and again sell at MSRP. At least where I am.
that be it, lucky you. I have no problem checking other stores around Europe, but for these kind of releases (ie. 100 cpus in stock for the whole EU xD) I have to stick with my country AMD’s oficial retailers. Luckily if F5 fast enough early in the morning I can get it always at msrp. Early bird xD
Oh I didn’t say they always had stock they just don’t hike the prices when stock gets low. It will settle down given time. We just have to wait.
I’m using the 7800X3D for a few days now and overall I’m really satisfied with the performance uplift compared to my old 5800X3D.
One thing I noticed though is that while I’m running MSFS, the processor only clocks around 4.5Ghz while usually the CPU hovers between 4.7 and 5.0 Ghz. (playing other games, watching YouTube etc)
It can’t be due to temperature because in MSFS the processor does not exceed 55c.
Is there any way I can force the CPU to clock higher in MSFS?
Did you activate PBO in bios?
Yes, I did.
In all other applications the CPU clock is fine, it’s just in MSFS where it’s slow for some reason…

I want to know what people are experiencing with the 7800X3D, because I have one I’m putting into a build once all my other components arrive here over the next few weeks.

A fellow simmer shared his experience on reddit after upgrading a 7600X CPU to 7800X3D.
EGLL on RW09R with live AI traffic (PSXT + RT with about 70 aircraft), at 12:00 with clouded skies. Settings are ‘pretty much all on ultra’. TLOD is 100. DX12 @ 4K with TAA and Frame Generation

Useless test without info sbout resolution ezc. Also comparing with livetraffic etc isnt good, as it can heavily change from first to second test. I get better frames than him on my i7-12700k with a 2080… something doesnt look right.

Hmm, something doesn’t sound right though. I could be wrong as I never use AI Traffic, but I have tested with my 7950X3D and saw about 10-12 fps loss by using traffic. Personally, just the way there are so many crazy bugs with AI traffic, I don’t use it especially how I take a 10-12 fps hit. But I would have thought he could have been still above 60 fps with even TLOD at 200 and AI traffic.
But again, I could be wrong. I know AI traffic brings CPU to it’s knees sometimes.
Is your GPU maxed out at 99-100% during that?
If so ive noticed the CPU wont max out clocks when it doesn’t have to, if its getting all the work done at lower clocks and voltage no point using more pwr.
