How? All I can do is press F1 now? Or power down and on again?
Just go into set up and back out and see if you can get into windows.
Yes Iām in windows now. Said I didnāt make any changes on bios. Took some pics (and no idea where POB is anyway. Chinese to me!)
Processes:
I do not own this CPU, but from what I gather, the first boot can take several long minutes due to the BIOS performing internal tests to find compatible and stable memory settings.
It can take up to 8 mns on a X670 motherboard.
.
If for any reason your bios settings were reset, it could well be that this whole process has to restart from scratch, and it should not be interrupted.
.
Although I cannot be sure this has anything to do with what you are experiencing, thought it might be useful to share that information.
That could be it - I called the shop and he said itās normal for it to check the RAM before post BEEP, but it had never taken that long before (normally 1 min), so could be that I interrupted it indeed. Would it have RESET the Bios though? I donāt know what was set oriiginally to compare anything now
Again I do not own this MB or CPU but my āinstinctsā would lead me to perform a BIOS reset and let it run the tests it needs to set the memory appropriately.
More here (same thing applies to all X670 MBs, not just Asrock).
So it looks like your system detected an issue at start up and I suspect to recover it reset your bios to all the base defaults - hence the reason for your memory timing not being correct.
Now, what I recommend is that you contact your PC vendor and tell them about the PC not booting up and the 1 screen you showed where it said press F1 to run set up. They should be able to walk you through putting the same bios parameters back in that the unit was shipped with.
Donāt tell them about the other changes to Windows/MSFS that you made as that will most likely confuse them and send you down another rabbit hole. Just the 1 picture you took of the screen prompting to press F1 should tell them all they need to know to get the bios parameters set back up.
Again, your PC is fine, itās just your bios is not optimized at this point.
Btw - Iāve built AMD PCās for over 20 years so been here a few times and got a pile of t-shirts
Will call them in the morning and see what occurs. Thanks for the advice all. What a mare!!
I think that would be the simplest approach as they know how your system was originally configured. It might have only detected an issue with your memory so just those parameters need to be set back up. If that is the case it may indicate an issue with one of your memory sticks that your vendor needs to know about.
Memory training on X670 motherboards is pretty erratic. Some motherboards retrain the memory on every bootup and have to wait 30 seconds longer. Normally it should memorize the trainings and use them on subsequent boot ups.
If the memory retraining fails for whatever reason (including a forced user shutdown), the memory will be set back to the default fail-safe DDR5 3600 and you will get the message you posted.
For me itās day 17 of trying to buy a 7950X3dā¦ Still sold out everywhere
Once you get your bios squared around this article will help in getting you all set up properly for your new 7950x3D.
How To Set Up Your System with A New AMD Ryzenā¢ 9 ā¦ - AMD Community
I only found one listing with it āin stock,ā and that was some random Amazon seller asking a scalped price and with an abysmal store rating (Takes your order, only to cancel it a couple months later).
Give it time, stock will replenish. Or just wait for the 7800x3d instead.
Yeah saw that 1200ā¬ offering too. Gave me 2020 GPU vibes.
Nah, I will defo not get the 7800X3d because, like mentioned a lot of times in this thread, it wonāt be that good for ppl who actually do more than just GA flying. Volanta, Vatspy, Vpilot, chrome etc. will use those non 3D cache cores so the 7950X3D will be way better than the 7800X3D in my case. Especially for streaming and stuff like that. I am losing like 20+ FPS with my current 5800X3D when using all those programmes while flying because the cores that MSFS needs get hit by all the other stuff running in the BG. That is not an issue with the 7950X3D and has already been confirmed by other users in this thread.
Balanced is the recommended. It doesnāt need to be AMD Balanced. Also the power plan is actually irrelevant. But balanced has the cpu options set to 5% min and 100% maximum by default. Thatās why they say set balanced. High performance has min 80% or some high number and max 100% by default. You can have any plan, change cpu settings and it will work if itās set to its mĆnimum correctly.
Thatās cool yeah, it has always been on balanced here, as I read about that before the unit arrived. Just wondering how the guy got those AMD RYZEN named ones into that list of options? But if it doesnāt matter then thatās fine
Also I believe Iāve had everything on the setup guide done already (game mode on, hags on, game bar active) but didnāt check if there is game bar update via the store app, so I will check that first thing when Iām up and running again.
EDIT: and seems my bios is on the version mentioned above already (0922) but read there is an update out today? I have the RoG Strix X670E-F mobo
I got āluckyā in my country. One of the official amd retailers didnāt have the 7950x3D available at launch day. I called them and they told me AMD didnāt sent them their order. They were actually mad because it screwed up their sales planning. So they told me to wait and as soon as the units were verified they would update the web store. A few F5s laterā¦ Next day very early in the morning it was finally listed and I purchased it at amdās msrp. In 24h they increase the price by 100ā¬ā¦ And in few more hours it went out of stock. Donāt get into desperation to pay the scalpers overpriced demand. Monitor your preferable retailers. I think you will have more chances to find it available in any online store of your country than in Amazon. Online stores or official retailers suddenly have it in stock for a few hours without any warning. Amazon will probably have official stock in 2 months or moreā¦
So I updated to 0925 BIOS Version on my ASUS A Gaming X670E and it seems more stable on bootup and tad bit better but still not really seeing a difference(?)
I did enabled eyefinity and ran MSFS in full screen
Little bit better imo, on DX11 Im getting about 20fps
mind you this is running on 10320x1440 with a 7900XTX
I am also in Inibuilds KLAX and running RealTraffic and PSXT(default settings) with Fenix A320 with DX12 and FSR i get a bit better performance id say around 30ish with the same setup
If I run FSLTL instead of PSXT/RT I get around close to 35 to 37fps
Maybe this is down to software optimization? Possibly maybe Fenix is causing a bit of the CPU issue? Iām not really sure, Iāll still keep sniffing around for anything else
You have the latest bios update for your motherboard. The Xbox game bar has to be version 5.823.1271.0 or superior.
