Thank you
Not sure about gusts, on ATR for example (Thales avionics) you can insert wind direction / speed / gust and it will update the approach speed. I’m not sure how it works on Airbus, on Boeing you don’t need to correct when on autothrottle as the AT already has a built-in logic for that, maybe same for Airbus with this groundspeed mini and what not.
I think if the METAR stays the same it doesn’t matter much if i change it or not. Not that much of a difference this time. I just wanted to know what data it sets if someone knew
Hi @nightxpress6423 this is a down-n-dirty shot of the rig.
I literally spawned in at a gate and quickly setup a few screens and the EFB on the iPad, so that you can see 2D screens in action.
The iPad mini showing the MCDU is just a display, so I can glance at the flight-plan.
I’m still working on the x-touch setup, but I think I’ve got there.
At the moment it’s actually showing the C414AW .
And yes, I’m using a yoke on an Airbus - so, don’t @ me
All yet to be tested in anger, but I hope the FPS will be acceptable
METAR reports are not unique to any particular forecast model, since they are real-time observations. I believe the Fenix EFB gets the METARS from the Vatsim weather server, which in turn gets the METARS from the US NOAA data feed. Depending on the time of the request, the reports can be up to an hour old, and since METARS express wind in true degrees, the pilot wouid have to know the magnetic variation at the destination airport to convert the direction to magnetic for the approach page.
I wasn’t aware that the Fenix can apparently fill out the approach data automatically in conjunction with the EFB? If so, it may be doing the true to magnetic conversion automatically.
I’d 100% recommend AAO. Just the fact that it auto switches your control settings for every plane makes it worth the money, never mind all the other things you can do. It also acts as a go-between to enable MIDI controllers (like the X-touch) which MSFS can’t natively “see”. When you get it (I know you will ) make sure sure to turn on the MIDI devices option in the hardware menu to be able to use your X-touch:
EDIT - see this flightsim.to download for a whole bunch of scripts for the Fenix that make setting up the X-touch and any other controller a breeze:
https://flightsim.to/file/33274/fenix-a320-aao-scripts-streamdeck-xl-profile-teaser
Once downloaded, you can import scripts from this into AAO that you can then assign to buttons/switches etc - saves you doing any of that yourself. Here’s a list of what’s already included and this is changing daily at the moment:
Maybe but simvar mag showed 245&10kts. What is correct at EDDC?
Edit: i looked it up. I think the airbus is correct. 4 degrees east of north it says on a map from 2020. Thats good it gets it correct Too bad MSFS injects declination of the direction opposite.
Does MSFS has a database of the magnetic declination? I think it needs to be updated or something.
Thank you. Looks good!
That is great! Could you connect the iPad over an IP Connection or did you use it as an additional Deisplay with something like “Duet”?
I did not get the x-touch mini yet, but I plan to. Looks like it was discussed in some previous posts how to make it work with the Fenix. I will watch the discussion regarding it carefully.
I don’t care about the input device. I look for systems & procedure training. Having the PFD/ND popped out helps also for departure, when some functions a mapped to Hardware (Gear, Spoilers unarm, etc). Mt older T.16000 does the Job so far. Maybe I switch to a more “Pro” Airbus Stick just for fun.
Thanks again. I hope FPS will be fine.
I use Spacedesk for the tablet displays.
And having the EFB done externally (not even requiring Spacedesk or anything like that) is a god-send!
Happy flying, my friend.
Thanks & Happy Landings for you!
just got the fenix a320… dont the default panel states work yet? Im trying to load in cold and dark but doesnt seem to work. well it does somehow but only after starting with engines on at the gate and multiple warnings and then suddenly shutting everything off… this is very disappointing.
Hm I fly only empty transfer flights and cargo. If the temperature rises a little bit behind the cockpit door no one will notice, just a few plastic elements of the cabin and the rubber isolation of the cables might start to melt…
I think that’s what it does, but it just takes a few seconds to get to c&d so not a big deal really for me
well this is pretty poor I think… but Im not going to talk about freeware that can do this better… just dont understand why they left it that way… its absolutely immersion breaking
Just view it as part of the loading
you are right… its probably due to the external app and how things are loaded. but its still a pity
I was able to do it via the secondary flight plan.
New topic, sounds very interesting.

My PC specs: I9 10900K / GPU 3080 / 32 GB RAM / Thrustmaster TCA Captain Pack Airbus
To calibrate throttle, the video below it was great, thanks Gavin:

I have completed 4 flights in sequence without restart MSFS between flights or leaving the airplane. Means I have completed 4 flights with no stops, and no issues. I have done EGLL/LPPT/LPLA/LEBL/LEMD.
Good FPS (cabin in Intermediate) always stable, no issues with Navigation or to follow ILS.
In general I’m very happy. If justify the buy, having the free FBW? This is a decision of each one, it will depend what you want from the airplane and why you fly. No doubts, it’s a much more complete, realistic and complex airplane that FBW.
FBW I always use Dev version.
