The FSS 727 has really scratched the itch, and adding the 707 for those long hauls would be a dream come true.

It’s most likely on hold indefinitely, due to MSFS 2024 being in total s**t state and, this being announced as a 2024 native, it turned out developing anything for this would be borderline impossible
That’s not really accurate. PMDG and others have praised the SDK in 2024, and even mentioned it being easier to develop for.
2020 didn’t really release with a finished SDK, and it evolved over the initial years of the product to what it is today. 2024 released with a finished SDK and added popular demanded features from the 3rd party Devs.

I winced once I heard the Famous Flyer would be done by AH. I have a few planes by them but this one is important to me, nothing half baked will make me happy…

The existing 707 in the marketplace is rubbish and does not seem to have any chance of being optimized, if you don’t need a good 707, thats up to you, but there seem to be a whole bunch of people who are enthusiastic about this plane in this thread, and I’m one of them.
I see nothing wrong with another 707.
I’m pretty enthusiastic about THIS 707. I mean if I can’t have a DC-8 then I’m definitely good with a 707.

According to their Discord channel it isn’t. They have been working on a weapons loadout project for the default F/A-18.
There is no indication that it is dead, but the 707 won’t be done before the end of the year, according to them.
