Everybody has to have a role in life and I guess mine at the moment is to start Aeroplane Heaven warbird threads.
So…
They’ve just announced on their Facebook page and on YouTube that the Hurricane Mk.I is incoming.
The 40-second teaser is described on Facebook as a “sounds test.”
Seems not bad - but doesn’t include any interior sounds.
As usual with AH, I’m hoping for the best but waiting for reviews and reactions… while I continue to hold off on the P-47 until the community (or maybe official) soundpack comes out.
Over to you…

The Thunderbolt is awesome, yes the cockpit sounds are horrible but the plane itself is very good, flies well & seems pretty accurate plus AH need to be commended as they have really worked hard to keep their customers happy on this one… They have made many changes in the latest update including some actual model changes i.e: the spine shape & they have even changed the throttle lever. Currently the only minor issue is the sound but you can mod it if you want to… I can’t as I don’t have the hellcat or corsair in my hangar. Also the external sounds & the low end & start-up sounds are bang on if you watch P-47 videos of the actual plane, they sound completely different to what you might expect due to the massive piping & supercharger system. It almost sounds like a Glasair or Lancair at high RPM.

Always preferred the Hurricane over the Spitfire. Like the P-40 it is still a very underappreciated aircraft even though it was responsible for the majority of German air-to-air losses in the Battle of Britain.
I really hope AH do her justice!

According to a comment by Aeroplane Heaven on their Facebook page, sounds for the Hurricane will be provided by Echo 19, a soundset developer with a history in DCS that’s also responsible for the sounds for the Miltech Chinook and the Shrike F-86.
Pretty encouraging news if so - and shows that AH might be moving to address the ongoing complaints about their sound quality in a lasting way.
Echo 19 is also providing a sound update for the IndiaFoxtEcho F-35 - brief demo available here.

I will be keeping an eye on this (and the P47). The thing with AH is their planes are a premium price, so they need to be top notch imo. Thus far they haven’t done that. This does sound promising though - not just a good sound pack, but also the fact that they are improving the P47.

That’s very good to hear (literally)!

Have to say it looks promising…

But also be careful, because they were pointed out a repainting mistake for british Hurrie, this is what the reaction looks like:
This is not encouraging . Instead of saying, “okay, we’ll fix it”. Again, small mistakes can spoil the overall experience however I agree, model looks very nice on the fist eye’s touch.

I think it depends on which era P2921 you are looking at - I only skim-read the discussion earlier but it seems to centre on the roundel.
If you look at the aircraft as it is now, then the AH model is incorrect as the roundel is currently much smaller than the lettering:
However, if you look at wartime images of that exact airframe, the roundel is clearly as large as the letters:
Without spending time researching why the rebuilt version has a smaller roundel or even which timeframe the sim version claims to portray, I’d say AH are being pretty unfairly bashed for this. All aircraft have differences in their liveries over the years, particularly rebuilt warbirds (anybody remember the Charles Church camouflage colours?) It seems that the image linked above is a fair representation of the aircraft during its wartime service

I’m sorry but it’s quite childish to grab one response from a lengthy Facebook discussion and use in an attempt to make AH look bad. AH had already explained why it doesn’t need to be changed and has every right to put their foot down.

Any idea on a release date?
No, they didn’t explain anything at all, AH just wrote that they won’t improve it and that’s it, and if you don’t like it, don’t buy it. However, if you like this approach to customers, then ok.

there were two diameters used of the RAF fuselage roundels
A 35" and 49" diameter
RAF Roundels (woodair.net)
Yoyosims and AH have a long history and seem to understand each other quite well - anyone registered at SOH for a number of years knows this.
Repainters are free to use either diameter and will be authentic to the period when they do.

Hard to say but seems pretty close, judging by the P-47, which dropped just a couple of days after the trailer hit. It’s been in the works for a while so hoping for soon (and for some quick reactions).
Also of note in the Facebook thread…

It’s true, it’s a pity that they don’t only understand the word “constructive criticism”. Just like they have their passion, I have it and I don’t throw words to the wind, I try to help, but I don’t think everyone understands it. Oh well. End of topic . Im still enjoyed P-47 btw.
