Aeroplane Heaven North American B-25J Mitchell

Aeroplane Heaven are working on a North American B-25J Mitchell for MSFS (no specifics yet for which of the two simulator versions it is being developed). This is one of my most wanted aircraft for MSFS! I really like Aeroplane Heavens recent releases (the P-47 and the Hurricane especially) and I intend to get the Lancaster soon as well, so I’m very happy to hear it.

Visually it already looks stunning, I just hope the sound will match that and the rest is well done (flight model and systems, especially the system LOGIC. Please, no major goof-ups there!)

well now…

Another favorite of mine - in the fight from beginning to end, like the P40, P-47 and F4F

The Aeroplane Heaven Lancaster is really good. I look forward to their B-25J. I imagine it will take a while.

In FSX I flew the North American B-25J “Briefing Time” created and released by the Mid Atlantic Air Museum (MAAM) and enjoyed it very much. So, now it is coming to MSFS 2020 / 2024, I am quite happy and I also hope that the livery from the “Briefing Time” will also be available.

I flew the MAAM b25 and c47 also in FSX. will there be a hornet aircraft carrier also?

There is the WW2 USS Lexington CV-02 from Miltech Simulations. And it is quite crampy and taking off with a Corsair was scary. So, imagine taking off with the B-25 !

Not sure about that, the screenshots make it look pretty complete, at least from a modelling/texturing perspective. If I remember correctly AH usually announces aircraft not too far from the release.

I hope you are right. I remember seeing screenshots of the Lancaster quite some time ago, hence my comment but happy to be wrong about it.

I remember flying Briefing Time in FS9. Was at th Mid Atlantic Air Museum last weekend and got this photo:

I am surprised to see this model back. I bought this B25J model same with the DC-3 from MAAM when flying FS9. They were perfect and I enjoyed many hours of flying.
After having bought the Lancaster I am looking forward now to the release of the Miitchell B-25.

Um, I don’t think the MAAM B-25 or C-47 were from Aeroplane Heaven, were they?

Maybe I’m wrong?

Was thinking that most developers seemed to really step up their game even with the crazy 2024 rollout. Going to be positive on this one - nice to see the WW2 bombers get attention and the Microprose B17 coming.

Yeah, along the same lines, I super liked MSFS with 2020. As a pilot, I was blown away with how realistic it is for the planes I fly (GA) and the planes I want to learn how to fly (Warbirds like the B-25. I might even get a chance to fly in and maybe even put my hands on the controls of B-25 someday (I volunteer with the Collings Foundation)). I even put in the effort to develop a bunch of airports around where I live that I fly into frequently in real life (and couldn’t stand how they looked in the sim by default).

But, with 2024, I find the interface to be so disgusting that I can’t motivate myself to put in all the work that will be necessary for me to get it working at least as well as 2020 is for me. And developing for it is out of the question now for me, I don’t have the time it requires now with all the LOD’s etc..

But, back to the subject at hand, in general, I liked AH planes ok enough to purchase them because they keep making the content I want in the sim. And I liked their work well enough when they fixed their lazy bugs, or somebody else did.

So I keep hoping someday I’ll put in the effort to get back to the sim again so I can enjoy planes like this one. Maybe it’ll get good again in a few years… if it lasts that long. I mean, today you can’t even see the planes on the tarmac when you’re flying in the pattern. That’s ridiculous. And I have a 24GB 4090 64GB desktop and a 16GB 4090 64GB laptop I want to use the sim on. It should be better. I think they forgot it should simulate flight in real life, which includes what you see…

For the time being, developing a model of the Collings Foundation’s new museum they’re going to build is more satisfying than trying to enjoy the sim.

That’s strange. The transition took zero effort for me. Even the control setup is more straight forward than people make it out to be and the options menus are virtually the same as FS2020.

Sure, I had no issue hooking up my controllers. I’m not sure why you brought that subject up. So, here’s not really the place to go into detail, but, I use a 55” TV. The interface looks like it was designed for a 12” TV, so tons of space is wasted and I can only see a small amount of content even though it’s a 55” TV 2 ft from my face. I don’t need reading glasses for anything, so I like my text small, no go in 2024. The hangar, I don’t even want to go there, what a mess. I like to meticulously organize and rename my planes with proper manufacturers, curate my liveries, get rid of the ones I won’t use, etc., etc. No go in 2024, they thought it’s better to organize our planes by the author of the DLC, not by the plane, nor should we be able to contain all of our liveries in the plane itself. They have to be organized by DLC author. Oh look, wouldn’t it be nice to search for all my amphibians? Nope, can’t do that, the search utility is basically useless to me, instead I have to scroll through my hangar 5 planes at a time, with zero organization. I could go on and on.

Sorry to go off topic. #endrant

A bunch of new screens released on the Aeroplane Heaven Facebook page over the past couple of days… We used to have two B-25s based at Paine Field pre-pandemic/KPAE passenger service, and it was so cool to see them flying. Excited for this one!

The modeling and texturing looks stunning!

It does look very nice - assuming this is still MSFS 2020 native though?

Interesting little easter egg on the 4th pic!

Indeed! Looks like we might be getting a B-17 competitor to the Microprose one.

Yea, they stated they would not do a native 2024 plane until “its ready” More and more developers are moving into 2024 now. Hope they don’t miss the boat. I will be waiting on this one until there is a 2024 native. Its not a must have for me, but would be fun.
