Aerosoft Twin Otter baby!

I bought the Arrow twice.

Basically you are probably right. But there are some Twinotter fans, and I think there are quite a few, who would pay for another purchase / upgrade for a revised version with comprehensible flight dynamics, well implemented cockpit and realistic sound.

+1

I would love a better Twotter too. I just won’t ever give AS money for the same plane. If the AS model showed up as a Local legend that would cause massive backlash IMO. The ripple would lead to far more policy changes too. Now if it’s another Twotter then sure why not? Pulling a plane you already sold tho to rebrand and sell again? Why would you ever support that? That is like paying for updates to airports you already own.

If I was Microsoft I certainly wouldn’t want to take it on for the tidal wave of outrage awaiting.

Not sure how many places it was sold through, but it’s going to be a bit of a task finding previous owners if they do offer them a discount of some sort.

They could bill it as a completely new product, but that’s an ask when the other one mysteriously disappeared a few months before.

I’d reluctantly buy another Twotter, but it would have to be Black Square good.

You are right, of course, when it comes to a Twinotter that has not been reworked but only re-released under a different publisher. I would not pay for that again.

But I would pay 50 - 70 bucks if it comes to Twinotter in BSQ or Blackbird quality.

Glad to hear the Twotter has a new owner, and hopefully they will do it justice. I did not and will not buy from Aerosoft, but if someone else is about to improve this aircraft, than I’ll go for it, as long as it’s actually good quality.

A faithful rendition of the Twin Otter remains my most desired aircraft in MSFS. The Aerosoft model wasn’t too far off the mark–even if it wasn’t marketed as “study level”–it just needed a more devoted developer/publisher. I’d happily pay for a more in-depth Twin Otter or even a newer Series 400 model.

If the new developers are checking the forum here, I would love to donate my time and experience in furthering the flight model, as a currently contracted Military Pilot and QFI on the 400. Would very much like to see a high fidelity model released. 40yrs flying, mostly Military - past eight years on the Twotter with Special Forces in Austere locations.

It would be nice to have a decent twotter in the sim. or even an indecent one!

For me, it’s a little too quiet around the Twinotter. I hope this is not a sign that the new publisher, whoever that may be, considers the Twinotters a low priority :eyes:

I’m sure they are aware there is a large, expectant community out here, looking for something special.

Just a small message like: “hey guys, we took over and its gonna be allright now” would be nice.

But that would ruin the “surprise” element.

I think we already had enough surpises with this one :face_with_peeking_eye:

Over on the Top 10 Favorite Aircraft thread, the Twin Otter sits at number 16 for all time.

Think about that for a moment. Here is a release that was of low fidelity in terms of systems modeling and certainly one that was lacking in areas of flight model and sound. Yet it still outperforms dozens of other releases in terms of sales. Now think of the revenue possibilities if this aircraft were released in a state that more closely matches the level of modeling that we have come to expect on the high end products.

I think it is safe to say that the Twin Otter will be back and it will be good simply because it has already proven itself to be a fan favorite and the amount of money it stands to make is substantial.

I am absolutely convinced that a study-level Twinotter would be in the Top 5 of all FS aircraft within a very short time. This could be a hall-of-fame Aircraft.

Exactly. It really ticks a lot of the boxes that a huge segment of the user base wants to have in the sim.

I guess we just wait and see what happens!

I think a lot of developers think it’s better to be quiet during development and announce the product when its ready or nearly ready. I personally disagree with that method. I like seeing the work being done. I love following updates and seeing the progress even if the progress is sometimes slow. And I’m more willing to invest in the product after seeing all the work that led up to its release.

The downside to frequent development updates is when you hit a wall, and you have nothing to update.
