Give this a try and let me know if it works:
+1, same issue.
I had to do a full uninstall after being stuck on the checking updates screen. Have spent about 7 hours reinstalling game plus all world updates and half of my 300 plus add ons. Now game is frozen on checking updates screen again. I am furious and so sick if this rubbish!!!
What is the total GB of your (desired) Marketplace installation?
I am having the exact same issue, stuck on checking for updates screen. It then crashes about 30 min after trying to load the game. The Xbox servers are up and running, so that canāt be the issue. Iām not going to uninstall this game and wait 7 hours to install! Anyone else have a workaround?
Iām not sure but there is ample room left on the hard drive, its not even close to being full
Iām asking, not because of your available space, but because we seem to have an issue when your Marketplace content installation causes the Reserved Space (location where MSFS stores Marketplace and other content) to hit a 500 GB point.
Iām wondering if youāre in this situation with such a large number of add-ons.
See:
I think you could be right, I was periodically exiting the game and restarting during the reinstall without issue until I downloaded the last batch of add ons
Take a look at this related thread, too, to understand some of what Iāve been discovering/researching about how our Xboxes are managing the storage of the sim.
I can confirm that it definitly has something to do with the amount of addons. I cleared my reserved space and downloaded deluxe, premium deluxe some world updates and some of my marked place updates. I didnāt download wu1,2,5,7,10,11,12 and topgun and the sim ist running fine now.
Okay, I have triggered the stuck on āChecking for Updatesā problem again. My āReserved Spaceā is 249.5 GB. I have 202 add-ons, less than 500 āsub-packagesā (?) installed. I can get past āChecking for Updatesā by pressing the Home button and then going back to the sim. It then gets stuck when the blue loading bar is full. I can get past that by pulling the network cable and plugging it back in, but then marketplace and content manager are not working, even though I am online, the data services are activated.
I have had enough for now. If the content manager isnāt working, I cannot remove a few add-ons to get it working again. This needs to be fixed. If there are limits, fine, but they need to be enforced without breaking the sim, when unknowningly reaching them. And I cannot think of any good reason why the update process should get stuck, just because there are a few more add-ons. As a software developer myself, I would be really interested in learning what is going wrong here.
This problem isnĀ“t only on xbox. It is also on PC. For me it started with SU12. Before SU12 I did not have that problem. I have to delete several files to get the game started. It is really a bad joke. We spent a lot of money on marketplace and now we have to delete a lot of files to get the game started.
Same problem for me here on a PC. Itās even worse, sometimes I cannot exit the game. This appears, at least in my case, to be a communications issue with the sim. What a mess. Itās never good to force shut-down this sim. It can corrupt your install, so every time this happens, I cringe. MS needs to get eyes on this ASAP. Not what I would call a great update. I thought I read where they were aware of this issue during the Beta, but alas, they pushed the update out anyway. Can anyone confirm this?
Excellent testing, RimcaHiwao!
This might be a very valuable finding. Thanks for sticking through that test session. Must have taken alot of time.
Ive got the stuck-on-update-check issue, but not the auto-deinstall issue.
XboxX with some 800 addons which takes up 627,6GB. Only MSFS is on the internal drive.
This exact setup worked on AAU1 v1.30.xx but not on SU12 v1.31.xx (any beta or release).
I kept rolling back and forth between 1.30. and SU12 several times. The 627Gb addons/reserved space repeatedly caused checkupdate-freeze on SU12, but never on AAU1 1.30.
So, in defence of the programmers, this is definately not a limit which was introduced on purpose.
And since we, the big addon-customers, cant buy any new addons without the marketplace, it should be a sure bet that it eventually gets fixed.
Would be kind of funny if the sales department notices an abrupt marketplace sales decrease after SU12 launch cuz of this bug.
Do you have the same issue if you follow the OPās steps to reproduce it?
Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
i got the same problem returning ad i think today i figured it out.
I am on xbox sieries x i have quit a few addons installed.
So whats happening is, as soon the the premuim and premium delux edition gets updated were you have to have to klick the buttun to update in the sim befor its loads to the main menu.
Then it get stucked on the content update screen and there is no way you movin on because you dont reach the screen were you klick to update pemium and premium delux eddition.
When i delete my all my addons then it goes true the content update page to the scrren were it ask you updatde delux and premium edition. And then is loads to the main menu again. Thank you! It is good to know that such big installations were possible before. I donāt have that many add-ons yet, but I am pretty sure I will get there.
Right now the sim is working for me, but I only installed 180 add-ons. I have 38 that are not installed right now. I want to stay well below ā200ā for now. This time I selected all 180 add-ons and installed them in one go. It took about 12 hours. Towards the end there was a ānot enough spaceā error, although there were still 120 GB available. Fortunately a restart of the sim fixed that. Everything is installed on the internal drive. It is good to know that I can put the core sim on the external drive, although it probably will be a while before it becomes an issue for me.
Lets hope we will have a fix soon. I am missing all the little airports that arenāt installed now. It is nice to have āprettyā starting points for excursions all over the world.
Iāll once again state, I really, really donāt think this has anything to do with how many mods you have in your community folder. The āChecking for Updatesā issue, the āCannot connect to your Profileā issues on start up, and the failure of the sim to exit gracefully all point to TCP/IP stack issues or ānet codeā in dev speak. Iām having all of these issues after SU12. I honestly think you guys are fretting over add-on limits for nothing. Trust me, MS will in no way intentionally put a cap on what they can sell you. IMO, itās net code related or something they changed on the back-end.
Have you disabled/removed all your mods and add-ons?
NO
Are you using Developer Mode or made changes in it?
No
Brief description of the issue:
update to 1.31.22.0 still stuck on āchecking for updateā loop of death. Present in ALL betas and has NOT been addressed. I have reinstalled everything multiple times (presently downloaded over 2.7 TB of data) and still nothing.
Provide Screenshot(s)/video(s) of the issue encountered:
Detailed steps to reproduce the issue encountered:
buy an XBOX, (not an emulator), download beta, then (very important step) load ALL of the updates and ALL of the 3rd party content. Then restart and see the results. This should been completed before released for beta.
PC specs and/or peripheral set up:
Iām really irritated at this point. Silence from MS on this. Every update they break the sim and now this. This is the worst. How in the heck are people supposed to enjoy their hobby if they CANāT because Asobo keeps changing things that break the sim. Telling the customer to troubleshoot which of the 100s of legitimately purchased mods is causing the problem is a joke. Iām not going to do it. Iām just going to stop playing this game. Iāve had it with the constant breaking. Hey Asobo/MS, Iām not your beta tester. Iām a customer. I think youāre forgetting that part of this relationship!
