From what i have been reading its basically the code cut and pasted out of MSFS2020.
Thats obviously going to be problematic especially with the new flight model. It either needs to be updated accordingly by a modder or implemented by MS/Asbo. My personal preference would be that MS/Asbo bring it back alongside the tab.
Really hope they bring it back but anyway cannot use MSFS2024 much atm too many problems for me to even attempt flying from my controls not working to missing planes its better I think for myself to wait in MSFS2020 for the time being.
I always use the AI Pilot to enjoy MSFS 24. I like the plane flying itself and enjoying the trip without having to do something. You can also use the autopilot for the flying but currently the game is so buggy, laggy and slow on XBSX that it is not an enjoying flying experience. Iâm going back to msfs 2020 for the moment.
Itâs in there, but not how youâd expect. If you enter Cursor Mode with a gamepad then the AI takes over and crashes the plane if you donât intervene. It canât even be disabled.
A bit harsh, imo. A.I. Pilot (in msfs2020) worked maybe 75-85% of the time. This included take-off and landing. Could often get lost and wander about a bit after landing, but I have countless âend-to-endâ flights successfully logged by A.I. Pilot in 2020. It just needed the love it was never going to get from the devs. Now they appear to have ditched it altogether.
AI Pilot was not bad (actually good and on some occasions perfect) in default planes, not touched by significant modifications, like those from FBW and others.
Also the skip-time function was ruined completely for modified planes.
Thatâs not my experience on XBSX. Yes, clicking into cursor mode does bring up a flightpath but if you donât keep on eye on the plane manually it wanders about, eventually veering off-course. Also, A.I. Pilot in 2020 could take-off, pilot and land your plane. Not so in 2024. Happy to be corrected (with a clear explanation) if wrong.
Depends very much on the aircraft. I find the Carenado Cessna Skymaster II is almost flawless when being directed by A.I. Pilot in MSFS 2020. Literally completes 98% of its flights end-to-end (including âhands-freeâ take-off and landings, and taxi-to-park) without any issues.
Other planes, not so much (if at all). Something Carenado did with Skymaster II sets it well apart from the rest. I have no idea what that might be, but this plane plays extremely well with A.I. Pilot - and in so doing shows exactly what A.I. Pilot could (and should) have been to the wider sim.
To be certain of what I am saying, I completed a short 75-mile flight this morning in MSFS 2020 with the Carenado Skymaster II. âHands-offâ from the runway (simply toggled the plane into âA.I. Pilotâ mode) - and the entire flight was completed 100% trouble-free.
Why A.I. Pilot is missing from 2024 is a mystery - and a massive blow. It clearly did work, given something about particular airplanes and how they are set-up by their devs.
Our disabled pilots in the VA I founded and run, me included, exclusively fly. We partnered with LVFR to keep their planes optimized for AI piloting. It flies our Airbus part of our fleet, which is all LVFR made, except for our Asobo A320NEOs, perfectly with our custom SB profiles that we use for flight planning.
The only time the AI pilot does poorly is when the MSFS servers go up and down. see my Newsky ACARS logbook! the proof is in the pudding. BTW it took 3 years of research to make the AI behave. I feel betrayed by MS and Asobo!
Unless my copy of MFS2020 was bugged, it used to work just fine. A good example is the Cessna Latitude. Before the series of AAU updates, I was able to do a full copilot experience but now it just goes full throttle 100% of the time. The Boeing Dreamliner is a hit and miss. The default Airbus a320 works just fine. 90% of the default piston/turboprop works just fine. I have to push the throttles on the Cessna Longitude to make it taxi and takeoff.
exactly, some players enjoy the immersion of flying without having to do all the difficult parts of flying right and people play in different ways. For people with disabilities it can be a great assist to have an ai pilot feature. I think they should at least have it as an option and for those who want to use it its there and for those who donât they donât have to. It just makes the game more accessible to more players
I certainly hope so, as it can be quite enjoyable to allow the AI Copilot to take over and simply appreciate the scenery. When everything functions as intended, the simulator is truly breathtaking. However, I believe there is a bug on the Xbox Series X in cursor mode that causes the AI Copilot to remain stuck on, despite the fact that the option to enable the Copilot hasnât even been implemented in the settings yet.
