Orbx has the new v1.3 currently, and guns are correctly uncovered. I have to say though I’m just a bit disappointed. I think the WU13 Missouri is a bit nice and has the guns correctly elevated. WU13 also includes a modeled dock adjacent to the ship’s berth. The new Hawaiian Vessels version suppresses both the (nicer, IMHO) Missouri model as well as the berth.
Anyway, WU13 seems to have created a cliff wall in the water mesh on the southeastern side of Ford Island. I thought it might be due to the Seafront Simulations Missouri model but after uninstalling and then reloading the sim, the issue persists. Anyone else seeing this?
@SeafrontSims, any chance y’all could add a toggle to allow folks to use the WU13 Missouri in your add-on settings? Or otherwise allow us to choose that one somehow/? It’d be appreciated.
That’s all I know of. Looks like plenty of room in the market for new add-ons.
Do you have the Seafront Simulations core vessels pack from the Marketplace? If so, uninstall it and grab the one from Orbx that comes alongside and part of your purchase of the Hawaiian pack.
I’ve separated out the USS Bowfin and USS Missouri into their own folder so if you are on PC and want to use the WU13 models instead just delete the ‘WU13’ folder in seafront-sightseeing-vessels-hawaii>Scenery>seafront-hawaii. This will only work for the PC of course.
This change is in v1.3.1 which was released by Orbx a few hours ago and is with Microsoft for release too.
The terrain/waterfall issue is not related to our addon. I’ve raised it with our contact at Microsoft but it needs raising here or on zendesk as a bug really.
Please make sure you don’t have both the Marketplace AND Orbx versions of the Vessels Core Library Installed. Only the Marketplace version has the guns removed/covered.
Thank you for looking into that. I didn’t think it was related to your add-on since after removing, the issue remained. I’m going to try removing WU13 this weekend, checking the area, then reinstalling to see if it’s something occurring as part of the base scenery for the area or part of WU13. I have landed seaplanes in that channel before so I’m pretty sure it’s relatively new.
Thank you so much, @SeafrontSims! Vessels Hawaii just an amazing package for making the area feel more like the real thing. Yesterday I landed a helicopter on a Navy vessel leaving Pearl Harbor and just left it running in external view as it sailed around the island while I worked on another computer.
Now we just need some enterprising 3D modeler to do that giant radar ball on Ford Island, as it’s such a major visual for that area and it’s weird to have it missing if you’ve been there IRL.
The 1m DEM is great but so much more is needed to make it really nice. Thankfully there are some talented 3rd party content creators out there to fill the void.
I’m looking for some realistic liveries for sightseeing in hawaii, Helicopters, A5, Seareys, Widgeons, anything that is flying around today.
In particular I couldn’t find so far any realistic livery to do a heli-tour over Kailauea and Mauna Kona. Maybe the helis flying in Hawaii are not in MSFS? I find that hard to believe as there are many many helis flying over the islands, a 407, 206, MD500 or H135 should be available? Right? Wrong?
I don’t fly them, myself, so I can’t speak with much authority.
I do recall reading about some kind of Robinson model crashing from time to time over there.
Also, there’s that one that kind of looks like a bumble-bee in " Hawaii Five O" that is quite popular there.
I’m having a serious issue with the Vesssels Hawaii package. When I fly below 1000 feet the water within Pearl Harbor turns to nothing but white squares. I’ve cleared my cache in both Nvidia and Microsoft Flight Simulator to no avail.
Please could you let me know your hardware and settings? We covered the water in Pearl using a tiling polygon. This is normally not apparent but one other user mentioned it several months back and changing some anti aliasing settings helped them. It may be due to an anti-alias setting that you’re seeing a much more pronounced grid but given you’re the second to mention it I’d like to take a closer look.
It is odd as the guns covering was only shipped in the Orbx version, unless you have a very old version of the Vessels Core Library installed?
I have some good news on the weapon front in general. Microsoft are revising their policy restricting “any depiction of a weapon” to restriction of “Any depiction of a weapon except on real-world static memorials, signage, logos”.
This will allow us to provide the model of the USS Missouri and USS Bowfin that is included in the Orbx library, with guns. It also means we can do the same with the museum ships included in our UK South East scenery at Chatham Historic Dockyard for example.
EDIT: The updated model in the upcoming version (subject to MS testing and approval)
