An Update from HPG Regarding Airbus H225 Development

Just a reminder folks - please keep it civil. There will be strong feelings and opinions but let’s stay within the bounds of the Code of Conduct please. Thanks!

At least we have the explanation about the status of HPG team and future. It comes late but it is better than never. I hope that the team will be able to take over / hand over the original lead developer, and that they will find an agreement to transfer the H145 / H160 code ownership !

I do hope all is well with Dave and that they HPG can come up with some sort of agreement with him so they can carry on developing the H145/H160.

The Statement about some code being in Daves hands might explain why the afcs is completely gone since the last update in the h225, if that part of the source code never made it to the new team.

If that is true lets hope the new team can either get the code or can rebuild an afcs system.

I commend HPG for this statement and I hope they can get things together sooner rather than later. The situation with code ownership and the general state of the H225 is a real bummer. I also hope that “new development team” that was mentioned will be able to properly fix and upgrade the aircraft because it’s probably the helicopter I’d use the most, if it was at a high quality.

Reading Steve’s statement, I can kind of understand why things dragged on for so long. Dave‘s development skills and constant communication on their Discord were the reasons that made the HPG H145 so outstanding. I don’t think HPG will be able to replace him. Will be interesting to see who takes over the H225.

Really thanks for the explanation, no problem at all, sure the new team will develop a great aircraft again and a new AFCS if necessary in months or a pair of years.

And the former developer will recover from his sadly mental/body illness sure, and get back again to HPG if he decides it, and thanks for his already work, and will let work in their code sure, if not for some reason, that I can´t judge if good or not, a new code will be delivered again with time by the new team.

What I will not forgive is to have unfinished the H225, that must be a sin, haha. Jokes apart sure “new” H225 will come, if not a major cause like Andromeda colliding before time with the Milkyway e.g. hahaha.

Thankful for HPG eing honest and putting out this statement regarding the H225 and all the issues and drama behind the scenes.

Is that the only 1st party dev to present explanation/apologies for the state of planes/helis they delivered at release ?

HPG are really good, I hope they will be able to update the 145/160 with the new dev, especially in msfs 2024

With this update from HPG I really feel the need to put this here. I was aware that Dave had left, but I sense there’s more to what Steve isn’t telling us, and it feels like a big piece of the puzzle is missing. My guess is that money played a role, and Dave likely reached his limit with Steve. I also suspect their relationship was strained during the stress of the H225 Microsoft deal, especially if Dave felt his contributions weren’t fairly rewarded. Dave always struck me as genuine, but I never got the same impression from Steve. I hope we hear from Dave, that he is OK, and his version of this!

Agree. My own experience in business tells me also that money may have played a significant role, especially when HPG was making a deal with Microsoft. It will certainly be interesting to hear the version of Dave and to see where he will reappear. Hopefully soon as his helicopters were fantastic!

Really hoping for an update on AP upper modes. I specifically purchased the upgrade for this beautiful helicopter!

Probably better to just post on this thread as HPG are no longer involved.

Just purchased the H225 in mp yesterday, but should have looked at the reviews. Just found out the AP doesn’t work. What its it that developers choose to release half finished products. Same thing with the BO-105 from the marketplace also half finished.

HPG had some staffing issues a few years ago though Inibuilds is allegedly slowly due to fix it.
I wasn’t aware that the BO 105 was supposed to come with an autopilot (I saw correspondence indicating no AP by design) but perhaps intentions changed.
I’d always recommend reading these and other forums prior to making any aircraft purchase.

So i have read the statement by HPG. Because the original developer left and took the AFCS code with him it has no autopilot.

Yea i should have read the rating for the H225, thats my bad. But HPG shouldn’t have released a product thats unfinished.

Is it possible to use the H225 without AP?

I am thinking of getting the H225 into my hangar as its the only Helo I lack for having Swiss Air Force complete.

Rating currently i 1.5 stars. Is this still valid or has the helo improved to a usable, worth the 18 bucks, price tag?

Don‘t do it

At the moment, the H225 is just incomplete, and has a flight model from some entirely different helicopter. I wouldn’t spend a dime until you see how the next couple updates look.
