An Update on Voting!

Hi all,

We’ve implemented a few changes and wanted to make you aware of them as you continue to vote on topics in the Bugs/Issues and the Wishlist categories.

  1. We have partially solved a forum issue where votes weren’t merging when we combined duplicate posts. This issue is quite an annoying one as we hated to lose all the votes when a smaller topic was being merged into a bigger one. Thanks to some investigation, we are now able to merge topics without losing votes. The only caveat is that everyone can now see who has voted on what. I’d rather that be private so we have reached out to Discourse to see if this is a bug or something they could change in the future.

  2. Clarification on how many votes you have:

    • Trust Level 0: Unable to vote
    • Trust Level 1: 10 votes
    • Trust Level 2: Unlimited votes
    • Trust Level 3: Unlimited votes

Click here to review Trust Levels and how to advance. This has been set in place to help avoid spamming of topics that may inflate the vote unfairly, and to prioritize core simmer sentiment/voting to help our developers see what the highest requests/feedback items are.

  1. A reminder that if the topic is closed or archived, the votes are released to the users and can be applied to other topics but the vote count on the topic remains.

Thanks and have a great rest of your week!
